I have a Warlock almost to L30 and I think I'm confused about a few things. I spend most time in groups with some soloing quests/writs, and am not extremely wealthy or twinked out.I've been using AQ gear and treasured pieces from quests/loot for the most part. How necessary is mastercrafted gear or when does it become necessary?Should I look to farm the rares before leveling passed 30 or how did you all deal with gear while leveling?I've been using mostly Ad1 spells with occasional Ad3s when I find a rare. How necessary are Ad3 spells or when do they become necessary? How do you all go about getting spells while leveling? When I use the -disease/poison debuff encounter spell I notice that damage spells often hit for more than the tooltip claims. Can mobs be brought into negative resistance? Or how does that work, I'm a bit unclear on resistances in this game. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I dont have alot of input on the resistances, but I can say as your blazing through the lower levels having fabled and master crafted gear isnt super needed. I would just spend what you can on + intel gear and pick up whatever good drops you find. This is expecially true when grouping as you shouldnt be taking any hits with a good group. And if you make sure your intel is high, and you buy atleast adept I spells you can do a ton of damage and be very useful. Once you get higher up and leveling slows I would worry more about better gear as you will have it longer. But I still wouldnt go obessive over having the best of the best gear until you get over level 60, when you know for sure you will be keeping everything for a long time and making the transition to T7 raiding. In any event just make sure you keep your spells up, and have fun blazing through the levels!

Message Edited by Taipans on 06-28-2006 08:35 AM

What he said. Keep an eye out for cheap high int/power gear, and adept1's. Adept3's are nice but not at all necessary, and you'll only "need" the mastercrafted or better armor once you're in your60s-70 and start raiding. I think thats the normal run of things. At 70 i still use a number of pieces of pristine tranquil dragon's breath armor for the 23int and resists as my main gear (havent gotten lucky winning loot on raids yet to gear up in full fabled)It would vary if you intend to solo named in each tier as you progress... then you would want the best gear and all adept3's, but thats a less common play style. You'll start keeping spells on your bar at 57(aside from the 2 earlier ancient teachings) so thats where you wanna start with adept3s for sure.

It's not nessasary, but at lvl 35 I have managed to obtain almost all Mastercrafted/Legendary and almost all Master I spells. All these I got through the broker at the 40gp each price. It helps a lot, and does make a huge difference to both your damage output and survivability esp when your Int goes up into the 220 + area.

All I can advise is that you take the odd hour or so to solo in certain areas collecting every '?' you see and taking on as many named heroics as poss for the Master drops. It all adds up and you will find it hard to spend your cash. I made over 2p the other morning harvesting '?'

Good luck too ya :smileyhappy:
