I am level 65 and have soloed since level 50. This last update has almost stopped it completey. Not only will root not hold anymore but when the mob does get on my, they rip through me 10 times faster than they use to and I am only trying to fight a 66 one up.

A few questions I have for you then.

1. What exactly are you trying to solo? Single target? Grouped? Solo/heroic? Arrow up? Arrow down?

2. What sort of strategy are you using?

3. What's your equipment and spell qualities?

4. Are your defense/focus traits capped?

Soloing isn't impossible post-LU24, but these factors I believe are made a lot more critical to your survival than they were before.

I have a few a suggestions for you:

1. Stand at aboslute max Nuke range once the mob is rooted. Not max root range max nuke range.

2. Stack the roots and dont be afraid to wait till you can get both roots on before nukeing again. General rule of thumb is if only one root is on the mob, wait till you get them both on before doing damage.

3. Use Stun and Netheros Realm only when both roots are down and the mob is charging.

4. If you run out of mana and the mobs is not under 10% yell the encounter reroot and run. Come back and try a better combination of nukes.

I can still solo Blue con ^^^ heroic mobs post expansion pack so it can still be done it just a mater of paying close attention to spell timers.

Master 1 FTW! The difference between adept1 and adept3 is HUGE as is the difference between adept3 and master, every bit helps.

Also, now that you can debuff w/o breaking root, through down your debuffs, it'll give you a little less resistivity and you'll get your nil crystals! :smileywink:

I still don't see the single target root working at 15% break chance, but nobody else seems to be complaining about it so I guess I'll have to do some careful testing this weekend to find out why mine is breaking more frequently. I'm not using DoT's when rooting either, so it must be something else. Bony grasp is another story, but I'll deal with that later.

As for soloing difficulty increasing with the last LU, that my be true... but I've actually died more in groups since the change and not so much solo. Why? Because the MT is going down more often now because of overpulls, and once he or she goes down, the warlock is usually next on the hate list.

Message Edited by Robbpilot on 06-23-2006 09:46 AM
