I've primarily grouped up to my current level of 53, but with a change in work schedule and family commitments, i'll be looking to do more soloing here soon. I'm in the process of upgrading all my armor to what i would consider "really good" items. Not uber elite, but pretty decent stuff. I'm also getting most of my important spells upgraded to adept 3.So thats where i am at, besides a good strategy to solo and places to hunt. I'm looking for good xp spots and good areas to farm some decent items. I'm always seeing people talk about how they are soloing groups of mobs and i'm totally lost on how they are doing that. I'll admit i haven't put much solo time in, but when i do i struggle at times to kill a single yellow. Killing anything more than one together is foreign to me.So someone give me a soloing lesson here. How do I set my skill bar up at. What to pull with, what mobs to look for, good xp spots, and good drop mobs. Although i'm 53, i'm a solo newb. Please teach me.I'll thank everyone ahead of time <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<DIV>Well until you get the hang of soloing, the first the you want to do is stick to solo encounters. I know this may sound dumb, but if you start out trying to solo heroic groups of 3-5 mobs, you're going to die and get frustrated. Secondly, I find the best solo exp to come from blue mobs. They can be killed much faster than yellow mobs for just a little less exp. Likewise, there is less stunning etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That being said, play to your warlock's strength which is groups of mobs. One good place is the harpies on the northern side of pillar of flames (just west of the monk camp). There are lots of groups of three harpies up there, and you can just go to town with AOEs. There is alot of debate about whether or not to use roots on solo mobs, so I'll leave that one up to you. Personally, I never used a root but I was relying on the nice stun from devestation / nebula that no long exist :smileysad:. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also <U>highly</U> recommend silent city (Batu the Lion tamer area) once you've had a little bit of experience soloing. There are 3 named mobs that spawn often in that area, solo groups of mobs, and small "heroic" groups (easiest heroic groups in the game). I soloed almost entirely from 55 - 60 in this area. I didn't get bored; I made good money and ended up with a few masters to boot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a few other general pointers, soloing is about killing the mob faster than it can kill you. Thus, I usually don't worry about debuffing solo mobs as chances are they're going to be in 10 seconds anyway. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You'll notice a big difference in success with decent gear and also adept 3s but it sounds like your already down that path.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Finally, if you have enough AA points to get down the wisdom line for the ward, it is very nice to have for soloing. Honestly, with it at rank 8, a green mob really doesn't have a chance at hurting me at level 70 :smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope this helps, and I'm sure as you get started you'll develop your own style and be flying in no time!</DIV>

Alot of good info. there, thanks for taking the time to post. Couple things though.....................Generally speaking, what spells should i look to be using or toying with to learn my style? I know devesation was awesome to pull with, but with the stun gone, is that still good to start with? Is it good to start with a root or something like devestation? Also, where exactely is that spot you mentioned that you solo'd from 55-60? Does't sound like anywhere i have been to. I do know where the harpies are at though.Any other tips or advice would be great. Thanks again!<div></div>

I recommend pulling with it from max distance, and then either a) using null absolution to finish them off or b) if they are more powerful and that won't kill them (for solo groups devestation / null absolution will kill most groups) using vulian intrusion (or previous version) before they get to you. This gives you a couple of seconds without them attacking you to get off a group root etc. </P> <P> </P> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> xmann1102 wrote:<BR>Also, where exactely is that spot you mentioned that you solo'd from 55-60? Using this back door used to require an access quest but I don't believe it does anymore.<BR></P> <DIV><BR></DIV>

<P>Wizards and warlocks are like both parts of a single pair of shoes. As with the shoe's other, than the differances required to make one shoe left and the other right, they are nearly identical. Wizards on average will out perform warlocks in single target encounters, but the differance is negligable and the warlock still performs very very well. On group encounters Warlocks will on average out perform wizards, but the differance is negligable and the wizard will still perform very very well.</P> <P> </P>

now back on subject, i found all those harpies, but man is it aggro crazy out there. any particular spot you know of that is free of roaming aggro? i ran around invisible and really coulnd't locate anywhere that i'd feel comfortable to camp and fight for awhile. i did kill a couple 2 groups of 2 harpies fairly easy.as long as i don't get resisted, groups aren't too bad to take down.<div></div>

<P>Here let me see if i can help you, first thing you are going to want to do is make sure you have the first expansion. Secondly you are going to make sure you have the largest bags you can hold and all your AE nukes are at least AD3 as well as your poison debuff and your group root. OK when you enter Sinking sands use the carpet to go to twin tears. From there head towards where the Gates of AAket Aken zone in is. There is a group/solo zone here. The first court is for the most part a solo spot. Right here is where you are going to xp, The xp is fair to good, the loot is awesome (albeit body loot)there are groups of enemies as high as 4 and 5 in here and yet still solo encounters. </P> <P>My advice at 53 is to cast the spells in the following order.</P> <P>Group Root, Poison Debuff, Devastation, Small AE (this one has a stun component to it.), if the mobs are still alive large AE. Be very careful of using your AE Dot as it is not limited to the encounter and you can get some bad ju-ju from it in this zone. </P> <P>I soloed there basically 53 to 60. Made over 150 plat there in over a month in body loot and treasured chest drops without selling it on broker (just to vendor) of course I did farm it extensively. Good Luck.</P>
