<DIV>I spend about 80% of my time grp'd but when I am solo I dont even know why I try to fight back unless it is a green. I am really starting to feel the pain of the long cast times for the spells and getting owned by any other class except other robes. Roots dont last for crap. 1, 3 second stun does nothing. Dots are crap in pvp. Resists are freaking rediculous.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I guess I am trying to find some kind of playstyle that works well in a solo pvp encounter when the need arises. I am 1% from lvl 46. I do in fact like the class but it seems being a Warlock (I guess any cloth wearer) are at a serious loss.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Root, Stifle and stun are the biggest points of interest when pvp'ing for a warlock. I use all of them when necessary but it is not enough. We cannot put out the damage necessary to kill anyone else wearing leather+ as fast as they can kill us in the same period of time. Once a root breaks or stifle finishes, it is a quick stun to us/knock back then dead in 3 seconds or less.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have all of my spells to atleast adept 1 with adept 3 and master 1's mixxed in. Gear does not matter what so ever unless it is resist gear. Caster fights mostly depends on who hits who first from my experience.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In grp environments I do just fine. I am usually killed first which is prob a good strat for the opposers.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Oidan on <span class=date_text>06-14-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:32 AM</span>

<DIV>I don't PVP so I can't really help much there, but as a possible suggestion. You can have both your single target root and your group root both up at the same time, so that can help with the root break issue. If one breaks the other may stick. Also, Its not mana efficient but using your encounter nukes, really helps when soloing even single targets, as its another big nuke rather than a dot with all of those root break chances.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<div>You're right, you don't play a PvP server. PvP servers have immunities from roots after a root has been cast... so if you hit a 20 second root, they're immune for 40 seconds from being able to be rooted again.I don't solo alot but when I do... I try to start out with a stun/damage, then the group root since it's longer. I don't use dots since damage can break it and I only try to use my debuf and my bigger spells, including my big group AoEs on single targets. If you want to solo you picked the wrong class for a PvP server, if a melee gets to you it's usually lights out since you'll be interupted till the break of dawn. When I can't group I'll play with a scout now, wow, it's nice to usually pick your fights with tracking and have a boatload of upfront damage. But the group vs group fights are the things that I enjoy the most on the PvP servers.</div>

<P>I have a 51 Warlock on a PVP server and i solo almost 80% of the time.. Its not really doable to use the same cast tactics on every class.. I dont usually attack more than one player at a time.. unless i know one will go down in like 2 hits then i may try it..</P> <P>Fact is there are not a lot of soloists running around, specially freeps that i hunt.. they have no balls and stay in tight knit groups <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> if i feel like PVPing one on one I usually go to CL and circle there dock area for folks my lvl.. this can get plenty of folks looking for you after 1 or 2 kills though.. There is also TS/NF docks.. you can just zone around till ya see a solo player or follow a group and just lend a helping hand for faction kills and a lil exp.. EL docks is also a good place but there are usually groups hanging out there and even green/grey groups can be an issue at times..</P> <P>The main thing for us warlocks in solo PVP is to see them before they see us.. Its almost like being a trapdoor spider.. waiting for the right PC to come along.. I usually end up in rat form to hide easy in between rocks ect and always have my butterfly totems for those pesky scouts..</P> <P>My tactics for PVP</P> <P>Fighter: Root, debuff, 2 DDs then I DOT em with both Dots.. root never lasts long so i hit em with snare DD after dots and run em till i can root again (10 secs)..</P> <P>Priest: dont bother.. really they can heal faster then we can nuke..</P> <P>Int nukers: just wail on em.. all yer high dmg nukes (usually only takes 1-3) dont bother rooting.. its all about who sees who 1st and who can resist more..</P> <P>Scouts: Pain in the butt.. but if you see then 1st just root and snareDD.. if it breaks yer screwed one or two hits and yer dead :/</P>

I usually like solo characters but man... I saw so much potential with the warlock and group combat I had to go this way and so far, I'm extreamly happy with the class I selected.Soloing seems almost impossible since my master 1 roots get resisted a good amount and then it's interupt city as it should be against melees... I'm not seeing very many mages running around solo and when I do they have their big hitter ready and then run. Kiting never seems to work since there's more FPers on Nagafen then Qeynos... and with Exiles thrown in the mix... it'll probably be alot harder to solo without having others dogpile you.Agaisnt Priests... Pre 50, I'd debuff then double dot them and nuke slowly and I try to keep the dots on there constantly, hopefully, they take my slow damage as an opening to attack me... then I go for a big nuke, pacify and then I go for broke letting everything go... Good priests just take too long and it's just not worth it since the time it takes to wear one down I usually get jumped by another Fper and soon... exiles.</div>
