Our power tap has to be cast on the mob so if it gets resisted it costs us power and gives the gorup none. I forgot exact numbers but it costs about 250 power I think, and returnes about 300 over 36 seconds at adept 3, and 350 over 36 second at master 1. That means if we do nto get resisted the warlock gains 50 power at adpet 3, and abotu 100 at master 1. It has a 3 seocnd cast time, lasts for 36 seconds, and has a 120 second recast.

Overall I think wizards and warlocks are pretty well balanced to each other, aside from the warlocks lack of a real equal to evac. Our power tap line is the same level as wizards evac but they are in no ways similer and I think other wizard abilities balance it out.

ahh well if they put that in there to balance wizards having evac and portal then that balance is fubared. The only thing I can think of is if they removed or reduced the power cost on that, I know the recast is pretty long, so it wouldn't be that overpowered. I think 250ish power given back to the warlock would help to balance the two out, with the edge to the warlock.

It is situational for the warlocks to do great dps, which does need to change.

If your fighting in say blackscale with heroic 3 linked mobs, a good warlock (with a good tank) should out dps a wizard the majority of the time. there are problems with this generality though, if your in a high mele dps group the mobs die so fast you'll only get 1-2 aoes off on the full 3 mobs before one drops, and another 1 before the 2nd drops, which leaves you less and less efficient and doing less and less dmg. again i refer to my previous point of warlock dps being very situational

If your fighting in say labs on a raid, a good warlock should out dps a wizard on a 3 mob encounter, and 2 mob encounters they typically come close to each other, and one mob encounters the wizard will for the most part be higher.

Raids are a much better picture of a warlock especially on 3 or more linked mobs in an encounter, since the mobs have higher hitpoints they live longer and allow most warlocks to get a full aoe spell chain (tank & agro reduction dependant) off.

There is a big problem with useing damages for a comparison. App1, app2, app3, app4, adept 1, adept 3, master 1, master 2 make huge differences, as well as wether or not the INT is capped. My suggestion for this would be use a standard spell quality on an int capped character of equal of higher level then the spell.

For example use player crafted spell qualities eitehr App4 or Adept 3 as any of these spells are easy to get (where as soem adept 1s and master 1s are too rare) and also Sage has access to them all just from the recipe book itself. So find a level 70/70 sage who has capped int and have them tell you the values, or use a link program to generate links of all the spells and test look at them yourself (if you are level 70 and have capped int).

That will result in consistantcy for the most accurate comparrisons possible.

Also would be good to name the spell you got the average damage from, for example: lv.1 Wizard - Plasma Line 2s C, 3s R (1051 dmg) Just glansing at this it loosk liek the level 1 spell does 1051 damage. My suggestion is: lv.1 Wizard - Plasma Line 2s C, 3s R (L57 Sunstrike average damage 1051 at adept 3) If you use only adept 3s for the comparrison you won't need to list it for each spell.

Since I am a 70 sage 70 warlock I can get the average numbers for you on adpet 3s of both classes. My int isn't capped right now but I can probaly switch soem gear around or gets buffs to raise it to max. Send me a PM on these forums and we can get in touch ingame or I can just write all the number down and post them here for you.

Message Edited by Worrick on 06-07-2006 11:31 PM

Okay master 1 can be used as a standard, I'd still siggest adding a note as to which spell is used for the damage average. I got a lot of masters I can can get numbers for you for soem warlock ones. Overall the numbers should be pretty much the same as wizard numbers.
