I have not seen any other post on this but I was thinking about it today. Once they delete the Sorc. class from the game us warlocks will not have our old tier 2 fire and ice spells to fall back on when we are fighting a mob with poison immunities. I kind of see this as a unforseen nerf to warlocks and wizards(fire and ice immune mobs). Sure these are not powerful spells but they come through in a pinch and are better than no damage at all.

They're making it so mobs aren't immune to things anymore. They may have high resists, but with enough people debuffing you can get those to a reasonable level.

Oh really I did not know that. Thats cool I always thought immunities were a lame way of trying to make mobs difficult. Where did yu see that info btw?EDIT:those wands suck compared to the tier 2 spells we lose

Message Edited by VeraIkonica on 01-31-200611:29 AM

I will make my reply as a quote take directly from your initial post

VeraIkonica wrote:....they come through in a pinch and are better than no damage at all.

The difference in damage you are going to be doing with them is not going to make a difference in any encounter.

Part of the 19c test patch notes:- Most creatures are no longer immune to certain damage types. Many will have retained high resistance to particular forms of damage but should no longer be completely immune.

Ice Flame will be marked Wizard (35) Warlock (35) after the revamp, so your fear of this "nerf" is not needed

Well no immunity thing is great, Sorcerers should see higher damage on raids now, still doesn't fix their raid imbalance completely as they would need direct attention to the bulk of their spells for that, but that's a start.

Yes, Ice Flame is one of those spells. But a smart warlock also realized they had Incinerate (Fire version of Shadows line, t6 torment of shadows), Blaze (Fire Version of Pyre line, t6 shadowed pyre), Freezing Whorl (Ice version of Maelstrom line) and any of the ice nukes - i.e. Ice Spike / etc (though most people use Word of Force).

Those spells, while doing very little damage, tended to add up if you had a troubadour in group which would allow you to proc enough to do some damage. You have fewer options against these mobs. Sure, it is a minor change, but it was an option.

Some mobs are ice/poison immune, leaving you only with Shadowed Pyre and Nil Absolution. On mobs where mez is needed, you are left with only Shadowed Pyre and Word of Force. Some mobs are even Poison/Disease immune, leaving you with Thwart and Word of Force.

Now, with "no immunities" that will change things, but there are some mobs with high immunities that are just as painful to hit, even with a brigant, coercer and bard full debuffing.
