I am thinking of making either a mystic, continuouing my pred/ranger or making a wizard/warlock. So i come to you for help<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Ok i know mystic is the odd of the bunch as he is a debuff/healer where as the others are DPS characters so i just want to ask you about your expiriences of the 3 dps classes? Which is better? Which does more dmg? Which can solo better? I have read the threads about wizards being excellent soloers but how do warlocks and rangers compare to them? From what ive read, rangers have preaty high damage as well...Thanks in advance for any imput <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />P.S yes i have read the spells, but nothing beats personal expiriences.P.S.S posting this on the other 2 classes to get an insight aswell cheers mates!<div></div>

I cannot even answer that question for me.  I think if you define your play style, you will come up with the optimal class. If you like having a pet, choose either conjuror or necro.  If you want an undead pet, choose necro, if you want an elemental pet, choose conjuror.  If having a pet is an annoyance (you have to learn how to maneuver with them, assist in groups, have them back off and stay some times), do not choose a pet class.  I personally do not like using pets in groups, so I have found that both classes really dont work for me.  Great for soloing though, as long as you hand pick your targets. If you want to sit in the back and blast, pick a wiz or warlock.  I like the warlock, but you will get aggro in groups and sometimes die (minimized when your tank can hold encounters taunted).  Wizards are good at soloing single MoBs, great at it.  But not so good with adds.  They also have more utility than warlocks.  In the end with both classes in groups or raids, you are going to be figuring out which damage spells are most efficient on the target and just keep them going. As for the predator classes, they usually out dps the sorcerors in groups and raids.  Not as good at soloing, but not really that gimped either.  Much more utility than the conjuror and sorcerors.  They can also detaunt better than the above as well as take hits.  They are more costly to keep up as they need more expensive weapons and armor as well as keeping their combat arts upgraded (casters basically just go for the highest int items even if they are grey, well to a degree and only need to keep their spells upgraded).  But, you have to want to go up and hit things, sneak around, constantly position yourself, buy arrows and poisons and use up slots for those, etc.<div></div>

Ok ill give a bit more insight why i asked for those particular fights <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I love ranged damage. I had a ranger in EQL and even though gimped at ranged, it was still my primary source of dmg. In WoW i made a paladin as hunters were basicly beastlords with a bow which i didnt fancy haveing a pet running around me but i did miss the range combat. So basicly i want a ranged dpser! Conjurers/Necros are basicly off limit for me as i dont want to rely on my pet to kill something <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

If what you want is ranged DPS, then it boils down to this:  Do you want to shoot arrows--which you have to buy or craft, or do you want to nuke?Assuming you prefer nuking, would you prefer fire/ice on single targets or poison/disease on multi-targets?

I liked the theme of EQ necro nukes. Life taps and the works. If the warlock is resembled around similar things i would think i will take warlock hands down. I just read that warlocks are more utility than nukes in EQ2...<div></div>

<i>I just read that warlocks are more utility than nukes in EQ2...</i>ROFLMAOHAHAHAHAHAHAHAVery funny.  You either read something satirical, or something written by an idiot.  Warlocks are one trick ponies in EQ2.  We make things dead.  Lots of things.  Very dead. No lifetaps.  Very minor buffs--nothing to write home about. We do massive AE damage.  We do decent single target damage.  We have some issues with raid damage, and one of our best spells--Dark Infestation, is currently broken. If you want utility, go with a ranger or a wizzie.

<div></div>Just a word of caution, you may get in hot water for posting the same post in different forums.  I know its against the board rules.

I know its not generaly likeable <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> But i did note it in P.S and also i didnt find any suitable thread where to ask all 3 classes <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Aside from that i guess warlock it is <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Oh one last thing... warlock/wizard is still the universal mage class for both sides right? i mean no need to be evil to be a warlock.<div></div>

Warlock is awesome in group if you have Adept III or higher nukes, because mobs aren't that hard and you can kill them really fast with AoE. If they aggro you, you can still take several hits and a healer can keep you alive while you finish them off, aoe root them or teleport them away from you at lvl 55. In raids you can't AoE much because if you get aggro you die so you'll do much less dps than you want but at least you stay alive. (I can still pull aggro whenever I want with single target dps, that thought keeps me happy while I force myself to tone it down <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )The one thing I dislike about my warlock is how fast he dies if a tough mob breaks root or if a several in a group keep interrupting your AoE nuke spells which take 3-4 secs to cast (seems forever). Expect to be yellow/orange often when soloing arrow ups.Pure statistics we do most damage in game though, currently my highest AoE skill (devestation adept III) does 10100 - 18775 damage to a 5 mob encounter. It's like an AoE DoT over 6 seconds. The AoE nuke that does direct damage on all 5 mobs does 5805 - 10785 damage. With a Master 1 devestation I will break the 20k dmg barrier and do 11550 - 21450 damage! (mind you, my INT is at about 330-340 so there's much room for improvement when I will have full fabled)On single target devestation is still my highest damage nuke but does "only" 2020 - 3755 damage. Compared to other classes which hit for over 6000 damage in one hit that is a bit low.<div></div>

I like hanging back and making a difference in a group.I have a 50 Wizard who, despite being horrifyingly inefficient with power, is actually a heck of a lot of fun.I have a 22 Warlock who is also a heck of a lot of fun, especially fighting groups when the rest of the team say things like "Looks like the frog cut loose again" over the circle of bodies. He's only 22 but chatting to my 49 Warlock friend, that's pretty much how it goes. Oh, and he's inefficent with power and draws tonnes of hate.I took my Mystic to 21 but hated it. I just don't get on with wards. My brain thinks heal spells should change the health bar of the tank positively :S That's probably just me though. A guildie is very happy and successful as a Mystic, go figure :S My 50 Templar is a decent healer but unplayable solo and only gets dusted off when the guild needs a healer.High level rangers are have insane damage. They also get armour, avoidance and hate-reduction capabilities. Everything a sorceror doesn't have, but should have, in fact. Except the armour <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />By the sounds of things, you want to play a ranger. Lucky for you they are flavour of the month or at least nerf-bat dodgers of the month. Go for it. Play what you enjoy and identify with. My troll mage is never going to be the ultimate power-gaming toon but with decent kit he is great fun, effective and gets noticed. Play your favourite class, enjoy it and stick to it whatever anyone else says is my advice.<div></div>

<div></div>If you do go Warlock, you want to make friends with a Pally.  They have an aggro transfer line (Amends @ 50) that will give them a big chunk of the aggro you generate.  And you will generate tons of aggro.  Pallies like Warlocks in the group as much as we like them.  Your second choice of tank to group with should prolly be a Zerker. Those guys are great at holding aggro on multi-mob encounters, so you can bring the noise.  Guardians and SKs do ok, but you have to hold back more than you would with Pally/Zerker.  You generally don't want a monk tanking for ya.  They have problems with multi-mob aggro, and you can get dead a lot.

Yes, that's the main difference between them.<div></div>
