<DIV>hey all, i got a 60 warlock on grobb and figured i would post this on the warlock forums first just because i'm used to being in here. no sense in wasting other space in class-wide forums if it's a stupid idea. anywho, i had an idea for the + skill we get every 5 levels or so that i think would really expand the uniqueness of everyone's toon. As it stand right now we all know that we get to choose a master 2 spell upgrade for one of our existing spells. my idea was instead of a master2 of the spells we had what about an app1 spell of any class in the game. This would be a huge advancement in uniqueness for all of us...some may pick dps spells, while others would pick buffs, or even pets. Of course you'd have to balance it but i think that would be simple. for example a warlock may choose ice comet as his choice which would up the warlock's single target damage but combined with devastation would be overkill. so put similar spells on the same timer. so ice comet and devastation are the lvl 50 equals for wiz and warlock so put them on the same timer. if the warlock chose ice comet then he could cast ice comet in combat but would have to wait the cool down before he could cast devastation. I think a lot of things would balance themselves out like warlocks could choose to summon a necro pet if they wanted but of course they wouldn't be able to buff it without the other spells. they could choose the enchanter's int buff but it would override seal of ebon thought, etc. warlocks could choose utility spells like evac or mez or call of heroes, etc. just had the idea today and thought i'd put something up here about it and see if yall would shoot it down. obviously there's probably holes in it somewhere but most of the stuff i think would self balance out with reuse timers or replacements. obviously the app1 version of the spell could be upgraded too. as it stands the uniqueness of characters is pretty slim...we all wear the same robes, most choose the same skill upgrades, etc. just a thought. thanks in advance for feedback and those of you that like to flame here's your chance</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>jayden</DIV> <DIV>60 warlock</DIV> <DIV>grobb</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I'm glad you only posted here for your sake because it's not a good idea at all in my humble opinion..First of all it screws with class diversity & uniqueness, Ice Comet belongs to being a wizard like pets belong to summoner classes, period.Then there's the part where major imballances occur, people will find abilities that go well with their own to make them able to do stuff they shouldn't do in the first place, I really don't have to think long of some abilities other mages have to make myself alot more powerful and imbalance combat. (ie having a necro pet, illusionist's mezz or mana regen to name a few). Even if such a thing could be implemented you could best stick to your own archetype because all spells and abilities are dependant on Skills (Disruption, Subjugation etc.). Having a powerful scout melee attack like errr the Ruse line in Brigand wouldn't work too well with the mage's lack of strength and other skills.<div></div>

<DIV>but that would be a stupid choice for a pally since you haev no disruption skill. you might land it once a week. your choices would still be somewhat limited according to what skills you have like ministration or disruption, etc. if you dont have that skill line then that spell wouldn't really help you at all...therefore a tank could pick an ice comet if he wanted but it'd be a waste. it would more or less let you choose skills that are part of your initial class instead of limiting you to just your subclass as well as givin you an extra spell or whatever to use against mobs that are immune to your normal attacks.</DIV>

<div></div>Unlike other tanks, Pallies have both combat arts and spells. SK's may be the same way. We get nukes now, just on a much smaller scale. I do, in fact, have disruption skill, which is capped for my level because I use those spells in almost every fight. If I had Ice Comet, I could use it very effectively. I'm not gonna pop the "gee whiz" numbers raid buffed Wizzies get, but in my offensive stance I'd being doing insane amounts of damage for a Pally. <p>Message Edited by Oakbrow on <span class=date_text>01-05-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:13 AM</span>
<div></div><p>I would probably choose a regen heal. Very mana efficient, you can root the mob(s) back up, use all your hp->power spells, and manastone, toss out a regen, rinse and repeat, and end result is full health and more power. You could solo anything (non epic).</p><p>Of course that might just be the Warden in me.</p>
