After searching for quite a while I was unable to find a serious article, post, block of text, that described warlocks' characters and system of beliefs.

There was of course the small number of lines that is the official stance on warlocks in that regard. But I believe it should go beyond that. Interest in death and disease, does this lead to specific dieties? Would they tend towards being a more discordant evil or orderly evil? Why all the references to "the void" (the void refered to in nightblood lore or a different void?) and nihilistics (is it a different nihilistics than the standard definition)? Are there notable groups of warlocks that a roleplayer could make references to? Would warlocks tend to have personality quirks, such as being indifferent or depressed?

Preparing to begin roleplay with my Iksar alternate and I am hoping to get off to a good start.

It wasn't nessecairily a rabid concern to stay true to some imaginary image of a warlock. I am simply searching for some inspiration for good roleplay. Probably going to make race the primary influence over my character, yet it would be great fun to exhibit some class based factors coming to play.

i have not seen any EQ2 lore involving a sect of warlocks, that you might garner some RP inspiration from.a lot of NPCs seem to be somewhat agnostic, with the disappearance of the gods.i think you don't need a faith for a warlock, but it could be fun, and add to your motivationsas for deities i would have to say:Bertoxxulos, The Plaguebringer would probably be a good choice, from the classic Norrathian gods.i always think of him as the original warlock, with disease, and poison, leaving foul decay in his wake.Cazic-Thule, The Faceless might also be appropriate, his tools tools are pain, misery, violence, and torture.if your character's intent was leaning towards causing pain and suffering, this would be a good one.alignment wise i think that would be based totally on your motivations in Norrath.if you wanted to blight, and poison any that held you from your goals...alternatively you might be simply the opposite side of a healer, it's fairly un-natural to resurrect and massively heal.frogs, and snakes utilize poisons, disease is a natural occurrence in the world.maybe you are like a neutral druid with an interesting spin on things oh and Mr. " It's all 1's and 0's, chill out."yeah, and books are just letters, some with punctuation...people are just a bunch of atoms with electrical, and chemical activity...does that mean we can't enjoy them in our own way?

Message Edited by rszazix on 12-26-2005 07:21 AM

Roleplaying is pretty much what ever you want to make it. I wouldn't say that you can pigeon hole any specific behaviours on an individual class. You could just as easly be some mad scientist hell bent on taking over the world as you could be some normal chap who just has an exceptional affinity for this sort of magic. If you are looking for inspiration i would first go with your starting city and race. Then figure out your reason for chosing warlock as a carrer path and go from there.

You can, but I'll still think it's [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]. I love star wars but you don't see me dressing up like an idiot when I go to watch it.

Your point on the natural and unatural is an extremely interesting one. I had never thought about the possibility that a warlock could be played as a nature based class. I bet you've already used it to great effect in your own roleplay :smileyhappy:

It's a shame we have histories of all the races, but not histories of all the classes. We have more lore about enemy monsters than we really do about ourselves. :smileysad:
