Hello! Me and my bro are planning on duoing. He is starting a warlock and I am wondering what class would go well with him. I want to be a warlock as well but for some reason i dont think that will turn out nicely. Can anyone give me a class that goes well with a lock? Thanks

(P.S. Please try to stay away from posting fighter classes that go well, i have way to many fighters but you can still post and say whats best :smileyvery-happy:

IMO there are a few options for duoing effectively... You say you want to make a Warlock... That is a good option with another warlock. May seem redundant, but it isn't. You will be able to root in tandem and nuke in tandem. It does work, however you need to know which spells have trouble stacking from same class. You will also act as triggers for one another having debuffs that help you both and triggers to poison effects later on. A wizzy is also a good complement. Probably the most abusive combination with a warlock is an Illusionist, they work best with wizzies but almost as effective with a warlock. Why... they buff you up and permaroot and you destroy. Better than coercers overall for the duo job. It would be interesting to see a troub or assassin with a warlock... could potentially work. Also if you want to go healer, a fury has excellent int buffs and good aoe to complement you. Notice that fighters have been left off... that is because they do not work well with sorcs for duoing. Their styles do not complement our quick kill style.

-Aldebaran 57 Warlock AB Server

I have to disagree about the fighter deal. I think a crusader makes an excellent duo. I duo an sk/warlock. The sk works like my pet, holds aggro, takes a decent beating, self heals with lifetaps, reactive procs. Disease debuffs for taunts. Then I aoe away. Fast killing and very little downtime.

But, if you don't like fighters, don't play one. I think a warlock/conjuror combo would be sick aoe damage with a bit of tank.

After LU13, I came to realize that i was extremly dissatisfied with the new Warlock class, (and still am) so I started playing my (then Level 33) Fury more. I got him to 40, and realized what a great 2-box he'd be for my Warlock (or any Mage, for that matter). I purchased a new account, had my Fury transferred to the new account, and have been 2-boxing ever since. Fury makes an excellent combo for any Mage. They get some wicked Intelligence buffs, and the heals will enable you to fight heroic stuff. (I fight even con ++ with my Warlock/Fury all the time, but +++ are a little rough) Fury's AE's are a nice compliment to Warlock's AE's also.

I am a little hesitant to post this, but here goes ... Ranger...I have been duoing with a ranger the last couple of days, and it is absolutely fantastic. Our stuns and DD, his stun poison and bow damage, and we are duoing 3 up arrow heroics (yellows). I went from 35 to 39 (20 % in) this weekend with vitality gone the first day. We do die sometimes, but make it back up with 1 kill...the worst part is my cast times...geez.

By the way, he has great gear and I have half [Removed for Content] high int gear, nothing fancy and no master or adept 3 spells (im broke). He probably out damages me 3 to 1, but I am mostly there to stun and cast the occasional dd spell. If he gets stunned and can't get away, we die in about 5 seconds flat, so it is not without risk. It is fun, and made me reconsider changing classes. I recently come back after the combat update, and didn't like the direction Warlocks are headed. I wanted a "wizard type" class that wasn't as common a long time ago, and picked this. Never saw many warlocks, then all of the sudden there were hundreds of thousands of them (ok a bit exagerated) all over the place. Anyways, I guess since we are so "[Removed for Content]" I am at least in the minority again .

~The Eternal One

Voltair

defiler. - stam buffs, great complimentary debuffs/dots, and wards that will allow the warlock to tank decently

A friend and I are playing two warlocks (dwarf and ogre, which might help out due to higher hit points). We are currently in our early 30's and hunting in zek and el. We have trouble taking heroics, and always have (though I have read it gets better at the higher levels). Just the other day we tried to kill four white orc builders in zek, no up arrows. At the end of the fight my friend was dead and I was one hit from death, but victory was ours, er, mine at any rate! Our choice in targets are the mupltiple solo mob groups. Ideally the 2 no arrow, 4 single down arrow heroics would be nice but they are really rare (last time we found those groups in good numbers were the gnolls in Antonica). Our tactics vary a bit, but the warlock has one encounter aoe that does light damge and stuns for a few seconds, and one big damage encounter spell. We alternate these often, so the group gets stunned for 3 seconds, then stunned shortly after that for another 3 seconds. When they get in close we have a pbaoe which against double and triple down mobs will pretty much end the fight. All in all it works really well, we destroy mobs yellow on down in con, with the odd orange solo as well...they just resist far too much to really make hunting them decent.

Hope this helps.

-Dorogus

think the ogre/dwarf combo might hurt more than the extra hps help...lol

Not sure why you think an ogre/dwarf combo would hurt. It's not like they can't get a good int (did you know ogres can get +5 int as a racial ability?) and the extra hit points at lower level mean more killing, less debt, less running back to where we were hunting. Course maybe you think our int is gimped, 159 on the dwarf, 168 on the ogre lol.

-Dorogus
