Hello all!!!Got a quick question: I was wondering who has better DPS on single targets. Necro or warlock? I will be grping with friends. SK, Fury, ranger and me and i want to know which would be a better asset to the grp in the long run. IE dps in long fights and utility for the grp. Any insight would help alot. Thanks =)Skeli Tanman 25 necroNukealot 27 warlock

I dont know about lower levels but after level 50 I have a hard time getting higher DPS than my necromancer guild mate on single targets. I rarely manage to get above him and this with me going all out on a mob. And all my spells are at least at Adept III, with some masters (including Devastation). On multiple targets there is no question, we win hands down. But on single targets necromancers and conjurors are awesome DPS.

Message Edited by Iranicus on 12-08-2005 04:43 PM

Well - I know that my Necro guildie who is level 56ish has said that my single target nukes are more powerful than his. On the other hand - necro's get a damage pet which does some serious numbers on its own. The netheros lord and dark broodlings can add a significant amount of DPS to a fight against single-target yellow con heroic ^^^ but less than that is somewhat inefficient to summon them up - and you don't receive the abilities until 48 and 52 respectively. The new power of the warlock lies in the fact that we are granted stun effects to several of our spell lines - and that our AoE spells trump all others. For single targets we have essentially three powerful single-target nukes, and two DoT's doing light to moderate damage. We also have a two reactive lines which can proc additional damage; and our damage shields which can add some nice fluff numbers to whoever we put them on in a group.

Warlock still should be better but not by large margine, conjurer different story ....

Don't even get me started on how a summoner class can do hundreds of dps more on solo and near equal dps on grouped mobs...Consistently scout pets from summoners do at least 300dps per battle (including raid mobs) and I've seen as much as 500dps...and around 600-650 with group procs and coercer velocity on it...its really a load of bull..on top of that they can heal, FD, buff stamina and intelligence, buff the same amount of noxious resist and power...the summoner class got such an enormously huge increase from LU13 its pathetic. The only thing I can suggest to make this fair is that the summoners pet needs to give aggro to the summoner...enough I am mad from just typing all of this.

Totally agree with you on the conjurers. I parsed several raid events and my guildie will out dps me on mobs for around (200+dps) . I was doing around 700+ dps and he was in the 900s on multiple occasions. I would cast gift and realm before the fight even started..lol, all my spells are Adept 3's and some master spells. His pet usually will do 80k alone, I just cant believe it. I am ready to roll one, but once I do SOE will nerf that class. Rolled a warlock because he was the hardest hitter, then bammmm nerf.

I started a Necro after they [Removed for Content]'ed my Warlock. It is nice to out DPS people again. Nice to be able to take out named solo. And I have made a ton of plat selling necro adept 3 spells....but not able to sell warlock spells, for some strange reason, LOL.

As far as utility goes, pets can be a tank, scout or warlock, I can be a healer or blaster. Root, fear, and stun. Oh, and no need to root/shoot when you have a tank.

See ya in the funny papers---

Well folks MAIN problem why summoner can outdps warlock is ability to sustein DPS....

In intence AOE combat will OOP in 2-3 min depending on gear/precence or absence bard+enchanter in group. In intence single target combat we'll last a little long but not by much....

FYI most mana hungry necro spell cost .... 230 power lol? My primary AOEs all cost 337 power with my mana pool at 5500, constant canibalization, summoners heart+stone I am OOP in about 3 max 4 rounds of Devastation and of course nuking with rest of my AoE as soon as they up

Necro lich = infinitive power, all summoners can tap own pet for mana on top of it - hearts and stones. Toss here fact that necros and conjurer spell is mana cheap and you got 2 ultimate classes for susteined DPS

Make no mistake .... if raid have a lot DPS classes and fights lasts no longer then 3-4 min warlock will always come on top of food chain .... any second longer? bleh we down to ~300DPS that we can sustein infinitive by using Ghastly contract and using that mana on Devastation+DI+Nul Distortion

Summoners beat all other mages for damage. They get a tank they can heal. If was to start over, I would choose a summoner over a sorceror. Warlocks are even worse, we get diddlysquat utility, and on raids like GoAA, 50% and more of the mobs are poison and disease immune. Spam Word of Force, Thwart and Ice Flame over and over.

Ppl I want to point out one last time that damage is to wide term

There is burst damage and susteined damage... In burst damage combat sorcs specially warlock win hands up by LARGE margine - they shorter combat the far ahead warlock will be over any other class - peak of damage warlock have in 22s combat - 9.5-16.5K damage per mob

Susteined damage other story - we got our cani spell nerfed BIG time in LU13 and got our power efficiency nerfed BIG time in same LU13.

Lol if you want nerf summoners - dont nerf damage just bring power cost of thier spells and mana regeneration of em on a same level like warlocks have and watch em crumble

By the way, my necro gets up to 25% of her damage from dumbfire pets. On raids they're great... get them behind the mob and they're immune to AOE's. Combatstats has never previously parsed dumbfires as part of the necro's damage because they were named like "Rotting Pack Leader" instead of "Topi's Rotting Pack Leader". This changes as of LU18. There are going to be some parsing surprises.

Message Edited by XBrit on 12-12-2005 03:31 PM
