I know I have read this somewhere on the boards, but now that I need it, I can't find it. Can someone point me in the direction so I can see what is recommended to take at each time you can to choose what skill to make Master 2. Thanks <div></div>

A great pointless reply from pharacyde. Sounds like you just want to increase your post count, like that means anything. The OP already said he/she has looked for it!. I have also searched for a list of recomended training choices for warlocks but cant find definitive information either. I respec'd my warlock toon today and still havent made the choices yet. I'll take what I think is best I guess, if it turns out tobe wrong there will be more respec chances in the future I am sure. <div></div>

I remember the choices I took at 34 and at 44. Nul Absolution (34)= AE nuke. God-like damage until it is replaced by Nil Absolution at 48, which does Uber-Godlike AE damage. Soul Flay (44)--single target nuke, hits for around 800ish, nice secondary nuke.

<P>I disagree with taking Soul Flay. The adept 3 version of it still hits for around 700++ ( i cant check atm .) Abysmal Fury is imo the better choice. It may be a PBAoE but it still has a better dmg potential and comes in handy in Harclaves. Keep in mind it is also the only AoE line we get that does not seem to have a maximum number of targets.</P> <P>SOE made us AoE kings, dont be silly and take a DD when the Adept 3 is just fine.</P>

Abysmal Fury is ok in Harclave, but there's more to life than farming that instance. It's on a fairly long timer, and draws huge aggro, besides being point blank in range. I don't even use it in groups that often, because I'm usually well away from the tank/mobs, back with the healers--and out of range.</P></DIV>

Yes the abysmal fury line is very situational. Most groups I dont use it because mobs are dead easily just from the encounter based AEs. Soul Flay in my eyes gets used way more than Abysmal Fury and adept 3 abysmal is more than enough for the use of this spell.

<DIV>When I respec'ed, I took Grisly Contract, since it has a decent ratio, even if it's not that great overall. It's still much better than Ghastly Contract adept 3, though.</DIV>

<DIV>With the nerf to AoE resistances and the nerf to Seal line last week i decided to go Master 2 Seal of Ebon Thought. It is nice, it seems to effect resist rate. Now my resist rate is almost as low as it was before the nerf.</DIV>

<DIV>I also took Abyssmal Fury. It is truly devastating when combined with Abhorrent Gift. Soul flay is nice, but I usually just use it to polish off things near death.</DIV>

The fury line of spells is an important tool for accomplishing this task. Its also a great spell for grinding in DoF zones (when grouped) because there's lots of group mobs. I would say I cast Boundless Fury as much as any of my single target nukes. Also, remember it's our only out of encounter AE spell. <p>Message Edited by MilkToast on <span class=date_text>11-01-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:14 AM</span>

<i>Also, remember it's our only out of encounter AE spell.</i> Eh. Some people like it, others not so much. IMHO, it's an OK spell, but its use is very situational. Soul Flay is something I cast in every fight, unless I one shot a low green/grey mob. Out of Encounter means you're gonna really annoy the Chanter if you use it and break mezz. Even without a Chanty, there are places, like the harpie camps in PoF, where you'll wipe your group with out of encounter spells. Those monks are peaceful folks, until you nuke one of them accidentally......

Why mez anything unless you're in danger of wiping or fighting encounters way over your head, otherwise, it just slows a good group down. I'm not trying to knock Soul Flay, it's a fine single target nuke, but I think you really underestimate the usefulness of the Fury line of spells. All of our encounter based nukes hit a maxiumum of 5 targets the Fury spells will hit them all (limit 25?). </P> <P> </P>

I<i>'m not trying to knock Soul Flay, it's a fine single target nuke, but I think you really underestimate the usefulness of the Fury line of spells.</i> Well, after this discussion, I did some experimenting last night in Harclave. Gotta admit, I was impressed with the results I saw. Combined with the Gift line, Abysmal Fury can really make a noticiable difference in DPS. I only have the spell at Adept 1 right now, but I'll be looking to upgrade it to Adept 3 when I find another ruby. Saving the one I have left in the bank for Devastation when I ding 50, hopefully tonite.

For the last several nights I have been in a 2 group guild raid fighting the x2 and x4 Captain/General encounters in Silent City. These encounters all have 8+ mobs. It's hard to quantify my joy and my guildmates annoyance at the amount of damage/DPS I was able to generate in these fights. Someone was parsing all the fights and I found that an opening sequence of Corrupt Gift, Anarchic Maelstrom, Boundless Fury and Dark Nebula(faster casting than Nil Absolution/Devastation) usually generated the maximum DPS. If you need a morale booster I recommend giving this a try, it's great fun.
