View Full Version : October 19th patch

<DIV>Today's patch, nerfed warlocks, and also made UI windows ugly and take up more room. Lets start off with the warlock stuff.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> Our AE lines had there resist rates changed meaning they will get resisted more. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ice Flame is no longer unresistible, probably should have been unresistible anyway but since it has a 12 meter range I think thats adequate draw back to allow it to remain hwo it was also it's 1 of 2 spells we have that aren't poison based.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ghastly Contract had it's hp cost increased for no increase in power return. Before the revamp one of the strengths of warlocks was are power efficiency, not only did they remove that with the revamp they also made us onyl usefull for AE damage costing us even mro epower to use. As a reasult we asked for a more power efficient hp to power conversion to compansate for the lareg abotu of power AEs take. They listened and made our hp to pwoer conversion a littl ebit better. Thank you sony for actully listening to our concerns, oh wait, they just took that away now never mind.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Our Seal buff line, on the day they made INT buffs usefull they took away are Int buffs. On that day they made casting skill increases useless they gave us a casting skill buff. Now on october 19th they took out crappy seal buf fline and made it even worse. Mechanically I ecpect to see no change since crap turned to crap is still crap, the seal buff at 33 points had no noticible effect so I don't expect 27 to have any less of an effect then nothing. I use Vivid Seal now, 13 int makes a difference, a much bigger then 33 points of disruption ever made.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now onto the UI windows, not as important as the otehr changes but still worth mentioning. They are ugly, the borders take up more spece and leave less room inside. I used to have a double row for both my maintained and currently in effect spells, now I have to widen the windows to cover even mro eof my screen to see the icons. The chaneg was supposedly to make it easier to resize windows. I never had any trouble resizing before, and honestly do peopel resize thier windows so much they needed to add these new thick borders in? They shoudl have just made window borders a toggle like the new improved con system they added a while back that gave less information then the old one. They could call it fat window mode.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One final thing since I am on the topic of the patch. They improved the stats on rare crafetd armor. Now very light armor cuffs are worth useing, that is all goodbye.</DIV>

<P>Worrick,</P> <P> </P> <P>Relax a bit! I hate these changes too, but they never actually mentioned if they highered the resist rate or lowered the resist rate. I am hoping they made it so the mobs resist our AE spells LESS. There no way of knowing until people have done their testing. So in the meantime lets hope our AE spells resist rates were changed for the better! </P> <P> </P> <P>"Get back to A.B and go hit 60 already" =P</P> <P> </P> <P>Betryal - A.B -</P> <P>Level 41 Warlock</P>

<P>It doesnt sound like you are speaking from experience with the patch. How about giving us hard numbers before you fly off the deep end. </P> <P>Are you being resisted more on the Absolution line/Devastation?</P> <P>What are the actual numbers of Ghastly Contract now?</P> <P>So Seal of Ebon Thought at Master 2 buffed 27 Disruption now instead of 33?</P> <P>Ice flame was resisted before so idk. I know the fire portion was resisted on fire immune mobs. </P> <P> </P>

<DIV>Ghastly Contract now costs 433 hp and produces the same 200 power, previously it was 399 hp for 200 power. Seal fo Ebon thought master 2 does 27 instead of 33, adept 1 does 19.4 instead of 24.</DIV>

We arent gonna cry about 34 health are we? As I stated in the other thread Seal line didnt do [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] anyway so it could raise disruption by 100 and still be useless.

<DIV>May be a small change, but how many small changes are they going to make. We have a lto of valid issues we want adressed and they only thign they are doing is nerfing us, hwo many small changes does it take to matter? Disruption increases are completly useless and rather then do anythign possitive they lowered our buff. HP to power conversions have a poor ratio already so they make it even worse. We have only 2 spells that aren't poison damage so they make 1 of them less effective. Can you say one good thing about these changes at all? And I made an error with Ghastly contract it isn't 433 its 448.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Worrick on <span class=date_text>10-19-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:17 PM</span>

Anyone able to figure out if the resist change was for the better or worse?

Also there may be some bugs in the stats, like one hat (producers) is 20 INT and the other (cambric) is 20 WIS... makes no sense for mages. I think there may be some other 20 INT items, specifically one or both variant of pants and cuffs, but not clearly confirmed yet.<BR></P>

What the hell?! That's a joke, right? Tell me that's a joke! I spent a plat on those [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ing pants (no, I don't give a crap about getting haxxored on this one) just for the INT - I want my freakin money back! So they nerfed our useless buff even more? Bravo, bravo.... How are the resists on the AoEs now? not played yet since LU and not going to today or tomorrow (busy in rl) but I'll be honest, I'm getting more [Removed for Content] with each of those "little fixes" without really fixing our issues and cancelling doesn't seem quite as improbable a chance as it did a few months ago... now don't "don't let the door hit you" me, not cancelling (yet?) but considering the possibility more and more as time(patches, "fixes", "adjustments"=) goes by... pretty sure I'm not the only one... <div></div>

Makes no sense to me, I would never wear armor with a damage proc because of root breakage issues.</DIV>

There are 2 types of the legendary armor, producers and cambric. cambric gives the plus 20 int (head, bp, legs) and producer gives the 20 wis (head, bp, legs). So it has nothing to do with imbued versus non imbued. <div></div>

The producers cuffs in my backpack have +14 INT. I was staring at the broker looking at stats on BP and legs when i typed that. I'm sorry if I missed one piece (head) in my assumption that armor would be logical. Take a look at the armor for yourself. BP and legs producer= wis, BP and legs cambric= intel. there are 20 intel legs out there. <div></div>

Looks like the cambric pants are bugged atm with imbued/non imbued having different stats and the cambric hat having wis instead of intel. I'm sure this will get fixed shortly. <div></div>

<P>Head/legs/robe t6 legendary crafted can have 20int on it now, 8 other stats (robe agi, legs str, head I fogot which I think str) 34hp/34power and 300/300 resistances</P> <P>forearms are 14int/14str 34hp/power 300/300 resist</P> <P>I not seen all version of shawl and gloves but from what I have seen</P> <P>Shawl 14sta/14wis and Gloves 14str/14agi (dont ask why...)</P> <P>Mintingation better then fabled t5 (nighcrawlers pants have 106 vs. crafted 11<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> - resist summ almost indetical </P>

I have no hard data, but I did not notice any serious changes in resists tonight (in truth, I did not notice any change at all). Played for about 3 hours. Bit of a small and unscientific sampling, I know, but there it is.

<P>To be honest ,INT plays no importence to me.I get about 1dmg/INT.</P> <P>But WIS gets some nasty resists <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Our warden with 350+WIS gets about 70%+ resists from any mob including epics.</P> <P>If I recal correct beide the +4~ resist WIS adds to the chance for resisting.I remember something being said about INT vs WIS or something. Not sure if they kept it thuogh. But apearntly it works great.</P> <P> </P> <P>Beside in raids I easily break the INT cap,420 is pretty low considering you get about 50+INT from any INT buffer now.</P> <P> </P> <P>In our guild we do mostly WIS+STA. Not like we were ever low on DPS as warlocks <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

<P>Like the poster above, I have no HARD numbers.....</P> <P> </P> <P>But it doesn't seem that the changes to resists are major in either direction. I ran Harclave twice...both times I didn't notice any major changes. Also spent a little time killing white cons in The Feerott and again, didn't notice any of the spells listed in the patch getting resisted any more or less.....HOWEVER>>>></P> <P>There was indeed a steal change not mentioned in the patch note that I have seen. I am interrupted a LOT more than I was prior. It seemed that FOCUS had its effectiveness lowered some.</P> <DIV>As for the other stuff, it is minor. After the changes to food and the presence of the out of combat polys that anyone can use that stack with food (Like Spirit Totem of the Winged Viper), the regen outside combat is very fast. As for in-combat regen and the lich type spells, never use them anyway because the power return for the time to actually click the spell wasn't worth it AND because my out of combat health regen is 1/3 of my power regen, it is more efficent to let the power regen instead of having to wait on health.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>(These comments are from a level 38 TROLL warlock wearing 2 Legendary item (Neck and Wand), 1 Fabled item (Ear) and the rest is HC or Treasured with a 165 INT with Adept I+ on all spells that are useful and Master I Aura of Darkness...which dropped in Harclave <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )</DIV>
