View Full Version : Oct 18 Test Server Update Notes
<div></div><div></div>Todays Test Server patch notes have some goodies for warlocks: *** The following area-of-effect damage spells now correctly use the same resistance rates as other AoE spell lines: Warlock: Negative Absolution, Dark Siphoning, Devastation *** Is this the previously-hinted at nerf to AoE? *** Invite Void had its health cost slightly increased *** Another underpowered spell further nerfed. *** Dark Pact now grants a slightly smaller casting skill bonus. *** The Seal line currently does nothing. I don't understand how you can lower its "casting bonus" any more. <p>Message Edited by V4nce on <span class=date_text>10-18-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:32 PM</span>

They didn't state that clearly. From my little use of it I think Negative Absolution does get resisted more then my Conflagration and Putrid Cloud so my thoughts on these patch notes is that they are actually buffing it, but it does'nt state it clearly.</span><div></div>

One thing you learn about SOE is that patch notes are there more for PR than they are for informing the players of whats going on, rest assured if something is changed in a way that the players would see as a good thing, THEY WILL LET YOU KNOW ABOUT IT ! When you read something such as this that is unclear or could be taken as either a good or bad, it ussally means it is something the players would see as a bad thing, and SOE are wording it in such a way as to not sound like a negative. While i do hope this is in our favor, i fear it is not. <div></div>

<DIV>I agree. Normally if its convoluted and unclear it normally means that its negative is some way. I tryed to log into test server last night and I hadnt logged in a few months. It was gonna take 2 hours to patch everything so I stopped. I will prolly do it tonight and let it patch while I watch Land of the Dead or something on DVD :smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hopefully I will have something to report by tomorrow evening.</DIV>

<P>For those of you at work...these changes already were pushed to the live servers this morning.</P> <P>Warlock changes:<BR>- Invite Void had its health cost slightly increased to match the price that other mages must pay to restore power.<BR>- Dark Pact now grants a slightly smaller casting skill bonus.<BR>- Nil Absolution now uses the same Heroic Opportunity advancement as the previous spells in the line.</P>

Sounds like only the spells stated were affected.

<DIV>You missed that Ice Flame is no longer unresistible. Isn't that just dandy for a 12.0 range.</DIV>

<P>Bad news, the whole lines were changed:</P> <P>Ghastly Contract, Adept 1 used to be 399 health for 200 mana, its now 448 for 200.</P> <P>Seal of Ebon Thought M2 used to give 33, now 27.</P> <P><IMG src="http://tinyurl.com/dyxro"></P> <P>Haven't tested AOE resistances yet.</P> <P>Edit: Ghastly contract, not grisly.</P><p>Message Edited by Zarquon on <span class=date_text>10-19-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:31 PM</span>

<DIV>Dont know if this nerf is a good or bad sign.</DIV> <DIV>Maybe those 33skill points were really making some diffrence and SOE knows about it and we dont.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But lame how we keep getting contantly nerfed...druids scream and get upgraded daily...SIGH</DIV>

<DIV>Im not getting my undies in a bunch over 49 health and the Seal line was garbage anyway so doesnt make any difference either way. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What about resists on Absolution and Devastation?</DIV>

Though I honestly can't think of the last time I remember either being resisted at all on any run-of-the-mill mobs.<BR>

<DIV>I definately remember times where Devastation was resisted by 1 or 2 mobs in a group. Wasnt often but I remember a number of times it being resisted. </DIV>

<DIV>Since we dont know if this was a nerf or an upgrade we cant really comment.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But probably a nerf since I remember a pretty low resist rate.If it was truly off the charts then its fine by me.Not fun...but fair.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Don't wanna be negative, but can anyone tell me when or what, we Warlocks got that made our class happy? If we did, I can't possibly rememeber when that was. As long as I've been playing a Warlock I haven't heard anything else but nerfs and negative things to our class. <div></div>
Way way back in the day they increased our damage. At the time it almost tripled my Dark Distortion damage output. Made me happy then.

<DIV>Yeah I also had it where devastation got resisted on one mob sometimes and very very rarely two mobs. Think about what version of spell you have too adept 3s or Master is going to have a real hard chance or getting resisted either way on regular xp mobs and such. If the spells were app4 or adept 1 maybe more noticeable but for us that have atleast adept 3s wont be so noticeable. I for one have devastation master so I hardly see resists on it even on oranges back when dof came out. Would be good to see anyone with adept 1 or app4 versions of some of these spells give us some insight.</DIV>
