Im kinda new to the game and let me see if i have things right... Wizards have best burst dps, but over a longer fight warlocks will do more damage? I read that somewhere (dont have a clue if its right or not).. Im really kinda interested in starting up warlock, and im just kinda curious how they do damagewise higher lvl. So just wondering, why would warlocks out damage wizards over a longer period of time? My main goal is at end game to be actually useful in raids. I know in eq1 wizard/rogue seemed to be the main dps. Then ranger came up eventually. Classes like monk were just brought along so loot didnt rot lol. Sure they did dps but could have easily been replaced by a rogue.. I hate to start up a class in this game and find out im kinda useless like that. And since im interested in damage dealing i thought id check out the sorcerer classes. So far ive tried a predator (was gonna make it into ranger but changed servers), brawler, and now the sorcerer. The brawler is insanely overpowered when it comes to pve.. I do literally double the dmg my predator was doing. If not more. So that scares me into thinking they are going to be nerfed. And when soe nerfs, it hurts. I know, i played a monk in eq1 at the time they got nerfed. I don't want that to happen again. Scout is ok but difficult to solo with. Especially on a ^ mob or a lower lvl heroic, their stun to get a backstab in only lasts like half a second lol. So since i like aoe (just got the lvl 14 master2 version of conflag and it friggen OWNS) and i want to be useful on high end raids (also predator had zero aoe dmg), i think im going to go with warlock. So if i have this whole thing completely screwed up because theres so much garbage on these boards about people posting about 1 instance where they got some unlucky set of resists and died and came here to whine, please let me know! And pls tell me warlock is the class that i want that im describing what i want (cause i dont want to reroll again lol).

If you want to have the biggest single damage spells go Wizard for sure. Warlocks single target spells are lacking , and many of their spells in general are 3-4 second cast. Aggro issues also exist with their most powerful nukes being AOE.From what i have seen posters say in wizard forums in end game raids the wiz/war run out of power and basically the DPS based melee classes take over.So before you spend too much time on a sorceror you may want to consider a scout dps class. In end game you will be battling with 10 warlocks and 10 wizards trying to fill various slots in a raid group as they are one of the more overplayed classes. Rangers for example do some insane dps from what ive heard but ive seen a couple in my travels , every second new toon i see is a Mage based class followed by fighters/priests.Not trying to put you off the class is still fun , just keep in mind you will see us fellow sorcerors everywhere while a good equipped and played melee dps could equal or better us in many situations. From one of the other threads in the warlock forum to me a very useful piece of info to consider:(from Kuvala http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=24&message.id=12994 )-----------------------------------------------------To be brutally honest, with the current state of the classes, you will probably be better off rolling a necro. They are now all-round the best mage class for raid dps, because their damage is mana-efficient, Lich gives maxed-out power regen at all times, and the hate generation is split between pet and necro so it's very rare to pull aggro. For long fights, wizzies just can't keep their power up.From the few hours of raid parsing I have done, basically on single boss mobs (Drayek plus his adds, Misty and Frostbite, Drakotas, whatever), the wizzies pwn dps for the first 30 secs or so, then they gradually drop down the list. At the end of the fight it's necros, bruisers, some scout classes, conjurors who are at the top of the list.

I have both a wizand a warlock and at the moment I prefer my warlock, solo is not a problem, its quite funny watching a grp fall like dominoes in front of you, Wiz is cool, but deffo more of a grp player, I hit a brick wall with my wiz at lvl 30 whereas my warlock keeps going. Try them both is my advice!!! (although tedious going thru sorcerer twice i know). Good luck! I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever class you chose!
