Sony will be changing up the resist factors for all raid mobs coming in the next couple months. With that they noted that no class would not be able to do some sort of dmg. Their thinking is that if a mob is resistant to Fire then it wouldnt be resistant to ice, or Resistant to Poison but not to Disease.. etc etc.. Therein lies the problem. Warlocks are only blessed with 1 type of dmg, Poison. Period. Thats the end of our dmg story. If the mob resists poison completely then we are screwed. This change will work nicely for wizards and its a long time coming but there needs to be something addressed with Warlocks. We need some Disease based dmg spells. As of right now there is no dmg spell we have that isnt poison besides, Ice flame and the Flashfreeze line.

I think the DoT's should be disease and the single target nukes should be poison or vice versa. Maybe Sony will make it to where other types of dmg are completely resisted and poison is only dropped is effectiveness on certain mobs and not completely immune. Either way I hope sony takes this into acct.

Peace.

Yeah I read that some where also I seriously hope they take a look at our spells before they do this we cannot be effective on a Poison immune mob the only Ice flame and the Flashfreeze spell line.

Maybe we could get a radiating spell, like Wicked Gift or Netheros Realm, that converts poison damage to disease damage. Come up against a poison reistant/immunte mob, slap this on, and blammo! no more resists.

BTW, Word of Force (Splitpaw spell) is also magic based, so its another to add that we could cast against poison resistant/immune mobs.
Toksick Spill
54 Warlock
Disciples of Evil, Crushbone

Word of Force, last time I checked it did 200 some odd points and shared a timer with Soul Flay. Well with a % chance for another 200. I'll have to recheck it tonight when I get home. I'm not ok with stellar 400 points a shot on a raid mob.

Every mage class in the game has access to word of force. I didnt mention it because there is no need to mention such a terribly low dmg spell with relation to a raid mob. Pre-combat changes I was chaining Ice spike, Word of force, Freezing Whorl, and the Distortion lines (over 60% resisted) on Venekor. This should never be the case on a raid mob. This is the point. If the only spell I have to dmg a raid mob is 200 dmg then Im gonna bring my GRD or Necro.

netherous also supplies a small amout of non-poison dmg... although his poison spells still get resisted... his melee works... and mages can melee also now... its pitiful but some dmg is better than none... just find a proc'ing weapon

and now that i'm thinking about it get an imbued wand also

still its all pitiful dmg on a poison immune mob...

Yea I wont be melee'ing a raid mob that has a random AoE that will surely kill me in one shot. But yea, those imbued nuke sticks will be nice for such a situation.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the post about changing resists. I was hoping it meant that nothing would be immune to poison since it's are only real damage type :smileysurprised:

The mobs that are invulnerable to a certain magic type also will nuke/proc with that magic type. Classes that cast one type of damage spell, ie Poison or disease, Should also have the far and away best group/raid resist buff for that type. So when we get into a situation where we cant nuke the mob we are still the needed because of our ability to protect the raid with our buffs.

The devs were quoted that no class should be unable to do dmg to any raid mob. Dmg meaning not using low lvl BS spells to do weaksauce dmg. That theory is silly anyway. A toon there solely for buffs is stupid.

This has been on the boards for a year now. I did feedback in beta originally, live, beta again and live...they are very aware of the problem and it just is not a priority.

Maybe if they actually implement these changes they are talking about it will become a priority. Then, maybe not.

It was rather embarrassing in old world raid mobs to cast our T2 spells....

That was the reason for my original post Splatterpunk. They are going to change them. It was discussed at the round table discussions at the Summit. Expect these changes very soon. Most with LU14. We shall see how they work the poison dmg.
Message Edited by Kalel22 on 10-04-2005 04:12 PM

Personally find it funny that while warlocks are listed as poison/disease based the only spells that we have that are not poison based are ice based something that we have no ablity to debuff.

Well we do have freezing whorl which reduces cold/heat resistance but it's minimal.

But yes I agree we need some disease line spells since we debuff it greatly and are listed as using both disease/poison.

Arioch

Mistmoore

..... Inc nerf to Aria of Exaltation. I noticed this too. That spell is uber just for spell dmg component. idk if it should be procing off ANY cast on the mob though. Maelstrom isnt supposed to proc on anything but your dmg, so thats a bug too.

Easy solution to this, make the Soul Flay lines Disease based, and Keep the distortion line poison based. DN line Disease based and Dev, NA line poison. Simple aint it? Solves the 2 damage lines problem.

Btw Aria also procs off wicked gift which procs multiple times on the mob. so if you have a 5 member group pulled. Wicked Gift will proc 5 times when you cast Abysmal Fury. So 6 procs of it whenever you cast Wicked gift : ).
