Yes, it's agreed that warlocks rock for damage. But, really, come on! We used to be relatively rare class, but now word got around about how good we are everyone and their mother made a warlock. It's getting to be ridiculous. Every time I go LFG, out of 5-6 people looking 3 are warlocks. We're fast becoming the most common class rather than a rare one. /who all wizard used to product 2x as many people as /who all warlock, now it's nearly even. Anyone else miss the days when we were a rare breed?

Hmm, maybe it's still early for Antonia Bayle, but I've been on a few x18 and x24 raids with my illusionist and not seen a warlock in any of them...

Yeah, I sort of know what you mean. I've been seeing a lof of warlocks popping up lately. I had originally planned to be a Wizard, but the choice to beome a Warlock was literally a split second click. Influenced mostly by the ratio of Wizards to Warlocks. I like playing something that you won't find everywhere. The ratio now is getting much closer to evening out though. Sure, it makes me a little sad, but I don't really mind. Share the love, I suppose.

The numbers have definitely been increasing on Crushbone. Wizards are still heavily more prevalent though, and even in the 20-30s range, wizards still are about 3 to 1.

My guess is that after revamp, folks will go back to their mains and that'll make Warlocks one of the rarest classes in the higher levels.

I think warlocks aren't quite as rare on Permafros tas they used to be on but I don't think the wizard-warlock ratio is even yet. I've rolled a wizard alt, still on the isle but I'll try to get him to wizard in reasonable time, I just accepted that I like the burst dps of warlocks and supposedly wizard best and as my warlock main is already 50 I'd like to see the other side of the coin myself, after the combat revamp wizard and warlocks are supposed to be equal anyway so it'll be nice to be flexible and able to choose which to play - not that I believe I'll get that wizard alt to 50 anytime soon, took me all the time from launch to get my main to 50 and that happened only about 2 weeks ago....

Someone posted some stats of level 50 toons on Najena in this thread If you see a level 50 toon the chances of it being a xxxx areI guess this doesnt show up the newly rolled ones though, but the "reached 50" stat is about the same for us, so from that I guess you could imply there isnt a lot of lower level ones.

Every non-warlock's favorite alt character is a warlock. And given how fast we level you will see a lot of level 50 warlocks now. Most are no where nearly as good as some of us "old skool" warlocks though...we have had time to acquire more masters, better equipped, have a much greater knowledge of the class' limitations, etc etc.

I am on Crushbone and there are a lot more wizards than warlocks, at least 2 or 3 to 1. The most common class to me seems to be Wizard and Paladin.

All Hail the Mighty Sorengard,

You know I have noticed a few more warlocks running around, but its not become that bad. The day I go LFG and can't find a grp, thats when it has gotten bad. Also at least on my server I will always be the first Iksar Warlock to 50 and will most likely be the first to 60 so I will always have that no matter how many Warlocks there are. And also all of us who rolled Warlocks as our first toon ever on EQ2 and still play them will always have the knowledge that even before it became known how uber we were, we just wanted to be different and choose a class that little was known about, and very few played, there fore we where the ones that have shaped the class and developed its tactics. And thats something that no matter how many Warlocks there our we can be proud of, because of us and the way we played our upstart class everyone wants to be a Warlock.

Sorengard Morsus

Iksar Warlock of the 50th Season

Blackburrow Server

Message Edited by Sorengard on 07-31-2005 04:36 AM

We are definately the flavor of the week for casters and have been for sometime. If you want to raid being a wizard would depress you to the point of deleting your character they just flat out suck [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] on almost every raid from a primary role of dmg dealer. Enchanter? god if you like cast 1 spell the majority of the night on somebody have at it. Summoners well i love the necro in guild cuz of his debuffs and stuff conj are awesome for the mit buffs on tank and can do HO's that add even more helps on some of the raid mobs. Most choose a caster for couple reasons but right now in game if you want a stand alone character with a ton of dps without anybody's help Warlock is by far the best. Although properly buffs Berzerkers and Bruiser compete with us i have never seen anything else come close in raiding. I suppose in Grouping for single targets a Wizard competes but i am a raider and know most Wizards that i raid with say Re-vamp will either make them quit or keep playing. So yeah in conclusion we just rock at our primary role and its out and everybody is making one because of it. Hopefully Revamp brings everybody else to par with us in enjoyment. Actually right now i play a Templar way more than my Warlock on raids because its more needed and on Raiding Warlock is gettign boring.

Yep, and I'm one of them. I shelved my 45 Wizard a couple of months ago, and now have a 29 warlock, and climbing. I now see the difference for myself. Unless something drastic happens with the combat revamp, I won't be going back to the Wiz. I'm trying to stay optimistic about the revamp, but with Sony's past record, it's tough.

I think the main reason is that the wizards class is seriously under powered between the two, but Sony won't even look at it. If you go through the Wizard forum, you will see all sorts of people who are rerolling a Warlock. I have a friend who went Warlock when I went Wizzie. He hits harder, faster, and the mob comes after me. Unless Sony actually makes a change to the Wizards (NOT nerfing the Warlocks) then I may even reroll mine. I would hate doing all the tradeskill grinding again... but it may be worth it not to be a second class citizen. Expect to see a lot more Warlocks in the coming weeks. Soon, it will be one of the only caster classes.

Having recently started EQ II i remember checking out the newbie forum and seeing poeople post about the warlock class bein solo friendly. Very little other info was mentioned about other classes. My theory is that some poeple who checked out the forums ended up taking the class for that reason. If more poeple posted experiences with other classes the trend may change :smileyhappy:

I just think it's funny that the only reason people choose Warlock is because of the DPS, what about having fun? We're not playing a shoot'em-up are we? I've several classes myself, I like playing every one of them, but all require their own techniques and approaches to bring down a mob. It's so dead wrong to compare Warlocks with Wizards, sometimes I think people expect those classes to be twins. Btw, what about the 3-4k in a single nuke that Wizards have? Warlocks can hit 2k in one nuke at the most.

Ahhh yes, i made a Warlock cuz i was told they was rare to see, and i find that still true. What ever class i play i always notice more of them LFG when i am lol... But thats just me... but most peeps that got tired of there main will ditch there new TooN's When the Exp. comes out. Lets face it id Rather LvL my Main. Idk if any one has posted this Yet but if u wana now About the # of TooN's on Your server check out
http://eq2.mmorpgstats.com

Looks like from the word on the combat changes we seem to have had our dmg reduced, mana costs increase, single target dmg replace with "situational" AOE, Snares pffft. In this revamp it seems sqaure aim was made at the warlock class for some NERF bat action. The question for alot of warlocks when the revamp goes live, reroll or quit altogether ? This revamp will certainly be one way to reduce the numbers out there.

I would say quit altogether makes a lot more sense. If you reroll, who's to say everything won't be "rebalanced" yet again a few months down the line? SOE is making it ridiculously difficult to plan for the long term.
