Could somone please let me know how well warlocks solo compared to other classes? Also, does this ability highten at a certain level, or are they pretty stable in their ability (or inability?) to solo?

The reason im asking is that I'm trying to decide between playing a Warlock and a Ranger. And, given my very limited play schedule, soloing will be a big part of my character's career. Additionally, which class has an easier time finding groups? When I do want to group, I wont have much time to spend LFG.

Please let me know if there's any other major factors I should be considering. Any input if very much appreciated.

Ok, here are my experiences. I have a 47 Warlock and a 31 Ranger. I solo quite a bit with both. My Warlock is by far a better soloer than the Ranger. One of the worst parts about a ranger is that most of their attacks require you to be behind or flanking the target. This is quite difficult when you are facing them and no one is there to turn them around. There are a few Rnger tricks to get behind them, but I never found that they were very reliable. That being said, I love soloing with my Warlock. I think you will find that it gets easier to solo with after level 23. Then you get Dark Distortion, which is our first big nuke. The one thing to remember about soloing any mage class is to get VERY good at timing your roots and stuns, because if you get hit, you will really feel it compared to the other classes. At high levels, I have been 1 shot killed by a solo encounter.

As a Warlock I can usually find a group in no time at all. With my Ranger, It can and has taken awhile.

Hope this helps your decision,

Yerej 47 Warlock/Oasis

Idau 31 Ranger/Oasis

Message Edited by Yer on 06-15-2005 12:15 PM

Message Edited by Yer on 06-15-2005 12:16 PM

I have a Necromancer (22) and a Warlock (29). I have found that I can solo easily with both but the Warlock Damage is far moe superior and Frozen Manacles, Freeze at AD III and Flash Freeze at AD I really make it easier. I start with a root and then trigger HO First then I cycle through Dark Distortion (app IV) and Ice Spike AD III and end with Freeze the Re-root and repeat until Dead.

If its a really Hard Target I also hit with Steal Breath Adept I to debuff and do damage over time.

Warlock is a cool class and I can tell you for groups you will get picked up fast. My Necro can never find a group LOL.

I have a 36 (86% to 37 :smileyvery-happy Warlock and I can solo very well. The levels between becoming a warlock and getting dark distortion at 23 are kind of tough, but after that it gets much easier. I am 36 now....just a few percent from 37 and Nil Distortion :smileyvery-happy: and I can solo orange solo mobs in EL all day long if they are not casters. Scouts are tough too. My routine is this

Pull with nuke=BSS, Root, Curse of Null, Steal Breath, HO, Noxious Bolt, Stun, Reroot, Finish HO with BSS. Repeat as need. Get Ice Flame at 35, it does good damage and slows the mob if they break root.

I have solo'd my warlock through 35 and 36. No groups, did duo a couple times though.

He is also good at getting groups.
