<DIV>i saw this today on the broker for 9.5gp  the wand states that it casts poison bolt.  is that player activatable?  do you have to be in melee range?  Or perhaps you just have to have melee combat activated and it will occasionally throw one.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>which is it?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

You just use the wand and it casts the spell.  You can drag the wand to your hotbar and activate it from there if you want.  It doesn't take up any mana or anything.  The bad thing about it is that the spell will probably be VERY slow to cast.  So slow I don't even use the disease spell that's on my wand. <div></div>

<DIV>As a woodworker, I can make the wands.   They have a 10 second cast time.   They do decent damage for a mana free click, but considering the warlock mana efficiency and DPS available with our normal spell selection, it provides only limited use for our class.   I only use the click effect of my wand in those situations where I am the only DPS class in the group and I have run out of mana due to multiple adds.  I had been making myself the poison or disease based wands, though I am now using one that does mental based damage to give me an alternative damage type available for those situations where my normal spells are unavailable due to immunities.</DIV>

<P>I recently got a T5 (cedar) crafted wand.</P> <P>I chose mental blast (mental type damage) for those mobs that are poison and disease resistant.</P> <P>The cast time is about 3-4 weeks (or 8-10 seconds, but it feeeeels longer) but...<BR>- it's uninterruptable<BR>- you can cast it while moving<BR>- it doesn't take any mana/power</P> <P>The main perk of the cedar wand is the stats - it's +12 INT and some other bonuses.</P> <P>- RP</P>

the rare wands give very good int bonus Fir is like +8 also they are very good to use when the fight comes close and you have to run you can run in circles at a range till it fires and finish off an enemy.  The thought wand that does mental damage also has this cool effect that is like an energy burst and it gets really big on giants makes um look like christmas trees.

<DIV>I also use the T5 Thought Imbued Wand - cool effect plus its mental dmg is hardly resisted (in fact, I've never noticed a "Resisted"). Use it when u run out of power or in the first seconds of a combat (to avoid drawing too much aggro).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Even if you never use its Imbued Power, the stats are more than good since there are not that many good treasured wands for a mage. Another good thing is you can use a focus in your off hand, which also provides a signifficant int bonus (besides it looks so cool with a wand in one hand and a stein in the other <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just my two cents.</DIV>

<DIV>I use the T5 Cedar magic imbued wand.  The +12 int, coupled with the Stein of Moggok is really nice.  I've used the imbued power a few times, when i feel like being flashy, but otherwise there's no point.  For anyone thinking about buying these wands, heres a little advice.  On my server, it's always cheaper to buy the rare, and the extract, and bring them to the woodworker.  I bought the cedar for 25g, the extract for 3, and the guy charged me 10g to make it.  So rather then paying the 1.5p to buy it off the broker, it cost me 48g.........sounds like a deal to me.</DIV>
