Well the Fan Faire is over with, and all in all it was rather fun. Yet this isn't about that..more or less the questions we wanted ask about. Majority of eveything was summarized into the up and coming combat/spells change. Everything we have is going to change. The way spells work, combat, everything. Here's some examples. When going from an App 1 spell to Adept 1 spell the power cost increases. That's going away. One set number for power expenditure. Spells will no longer scale as you level. Once you reach said level, the spell will have max damage for its type. Some of our spell graphics are being looked into as well. Personally I suggested something like the Chill Bones Necro's had in EQ1 turning mobs into Skele's, or something along the lines of a Fleshrot with the mobs skin melting away. The idea of quoting Dark Wing duck after casting Nil Distortion got a chuckle - Suck gas evil doer. Raiding was brought up for changes to HO's. Where the entire raid force will have access to a raid specific HO chain cycle. This whole thing is due to come out before the expansion Desert of Flames does. Which btw I had a chance to see, and OMG the Terrorantula is HUGE. No no..bigger than that...I'm talking you have to be at a Woushi distance to see its fully body. Last tidbit thing I added directly to the person in charge is about the Brokers. If you do a search from orange to orange you get gear wearble at current level. If you do a search from orange to red...you get everything. Whether you can wear it or not. It was agreed upon of annoyance and appears to be changed in the future as well. To a more class specific...maybe mage specific, but its better than staring at all the Heavy Armor pieces. <div></div>

Thanks for the info =) I really wish they would make a hybrid of the new and old system though... I enjoyed seeing my spells grow to maturity. At the same time I am anxious to see change since all my spells after bony grasp... have well.. just sucked(with the exception of chaotic maelstorm). It's promising to hear that some of our animations are getting looked at. I'd complain about just seeing gas and small ball shape projectiles all my life, but I figured there are more important things to be fixed atm. <div></div>

The spell scaling may be bad for us. If Nil Distortion is stuck as a level 37 spell forever, that may be a huge nerf to it's damage at level 50 compared to now. Whereas wizzies will get the full power of Ice Comet at 50.</P> <P>But I'm very happy about the spell graphics thing. There are so many cool animation possibilities for our spells, and we just get green gas clouds and little black puffballs. </P></BLOCKQUOTE><BR>
So does this mean that we will be seeing max damage at the level of the spell or are they going to average it? For example, with an adept 3 nil distortion at 37, will warlocks be able to hit for 2k, or will it be more towards the starting 1200? I guess with you saying max damage than we can assume it will be the 2k. I hope it doesn't end up as a nerf. /em Crossing fingers.

It would still be a considerable nerf though. I guess the only positive you could take from it is ND should get upgraded at 51 and PRAY they finally address Soul Flop....errr....Flay. Side note: Can you imagine what the market demand and node competition will be like initially for the T6 rare to actually MAKE that ND upgrade?..../em shudder.... Get your 'lock levelled now.....</span><div></div><p>Message Edited by GLScooby on <span class=date_text>06-13-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:34 PM</span>
I really dislike the idea of dps staying the same for X amount of levels after you get a spell. That's how it was in EQ1 and it pretty much sucked. The sliding scale is good. Regarding Nil Distortion do you really think you're going to get a 2k nuke at level 37? Soul Flay may balance this once it's fixed though. We'll just have to wait and see. <div></div>

Here's what I mean: This is just an example, numbers are no where accurate, Let's say Nil Distortion App 1 does 800 damage at Lvl 37 and it scaled to 1500 damage by Lvl 44. Once the change goes through, that same App 1 spell will hit for max 1500 damage. Now the App 1 is upgraded to an Adept 1 version. Power cost for casting remains the same, yet instead of doing 1500 damage at Lvl 37, you'll be doing 2k damage max. That damage of 2k max will stay the same from Lvl 37 thru 60 (desert of flames) or until the next expansion comes out and raises the level limit. Believe me I raised the B.S. flag on spells such as Soul Flay, Deter, and why our only good single target root spell is gray as gray can be - Frozen Manacles.</span><div></div>

<DIV>You folks are glossing over the fact that they clearly stated that new spells were being added to every caster class to fill in the gaps where spells had been used for many levels. For the few months after this patch comes out it will be good to be a sage, I'd suggest stockpilling some of the rare stones now, you are going to want new adept III's and the prices are going to suck.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Duotron</DIV>
The one thing that was forgotten was that INT and WIS will also have a purpose after the Combat balance. The higher level MOBS will have more of each, Therfore your spells will not do 2k damage on a red or a ^^. As they become blue a green to you then those MAX damage hits will start again. Just don't expect to hit a yellow or orange for the same damage you are now.
