<DIV>I took a look and surprisingly I could not find a thread relating to this topic (though it probably does actually exist).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In any case, I managed to ding level 40 warlock a couple days ago and I would like to read opinions on the best choice for the level 40 training options. I have read several posts on the lower level choices, but do not recall seeing anything at all on 40. Input from those with experience is would be valuable as far as helping me with my selection.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance.</DIV>

<DIV>Imho, pick the stun. This has been covered in many other threads...</DIV>

<P>Hermia's viral blast or the stun are your best bets.</P> <P>IMO the stun is definately the way to go. My DPS is fine without Hermia's...but that 10.7 second stun has saved my hide SO many times!</P>

<DIV>I picked HVB</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't even remember what the other choices were.</DIV>

I took the stun initally, but later respec'd and took HVB. I parsed logs and saw that I was using Nox Bolt 20x more often than TNN, so I figure I'd rather get maximum use out of my training, right? Also, Soul Flay is junk, so HVB is kind of the replacement for Nox Bolt instead. As far as I know, Aura of Emptiness isn't broken, so it kind of made sense to take HVB. <div></div>

I'd say it depends on your level of DD spells. I lucked out and got a Master I for noxius bolt in ToN, so I didnt see any reason to get a adept II version even with the additional effects. My Nil Distorstion is adept III right now(still hoping to one day get that master hehe). So for dps I'm doing just fine, but... that stun has personally been the best thing to ever happen to me as far as a class trait. In combo with bony grasp, and having 2 other roots and 1 other stun... i can solo awesome XP. You consider bony grasp last 35s, and recast is around 50s(not exactly sure but that is close). You then figure in a 10s stun, that leaves only 5s + cast time of bony for 2 roots and a stun to cover. I don't know of any normal mob or small group of mobs(not counting named, epics, or mob 15 levels above you) that can last through two bony grasp sessions of nuking. <div></div>

Yeah the training stun is almost 3 seconds longer than any other stun you get no brainer for me adept 3 of noxious bolt is just fine just a tad below its training upgrade and i hear master 1 noxious bolt is actually more damage. Just think 3 more seconds to get away, a tank to get aggro off you, or to even kill a mob what a life saver for you and other party members.

<DIV>If you solo very much get an Adept 3 Noxious Bolt and take the stun. I solo a lot and the extra time on the stun makes a huge difference.</DIV>

<DIV>Basically its a choice between TNN and HVB personally I suggest stun...</DIV> <DIV>Adept 3 NB will perform better then HVB untill up to mid 40s then HBV take lead.. But bear in mind this - NB/HVB is trinary nuke and its contribution in your total DPS aren't very high so +100-150 dmg every 6.5s it grant you max around 20DPS top which is next to nothing while 10.7s stun is great as safety net</DIV>

<P>TNN (the stun) or HVB (same timer/upgrade to Noxious Bolt).</P> <P>TNN: If you solo even half the time you are playing, you should pick this, hands down. I picked up a master Noxious Bolt and it does more damage than HVB, so TNN was my obvious choice (was going to choose it anyway.)</P> <P>HVB: At this point, the only reason I would suggest someone grabbing this is if they can't get an adept III Noxious Bolt (for some unknown reason) or if all they do is raid/group. Well, actually, once new expansion comes out and our levels are extended to 60, it may get resisted less than Noxious Bolt. But, who knows?</P>

As for using it to chain bony grasp, according to the spell, BG lasts 36s with a 45s recast, but it always seems to break with 6-8s left, leaving about 15s to keep them occupied. I believe the stuns poof a few seconds early as well, but I don't watch those as close. A lot of spells are doing that, poofing with 25% or so left, so don't take the numbers as gospel <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. I usually FM, then convert some health to power, wait a few more seconds, throw a second FM in case I get a fizzle or resist on BG, then throw the BG and nuke away.</span><div></div>

<P>Another thing to consider...if they ever do actually get around to fixing our level 40+ spells (....don't get me started....) then you gotta wonder what's going to happen to Soul Flay.</P> <P>Soul Flay is supposed to be an upgrade to Noxious Bolt. If it ever is corrected, I would think it would be better than both HVB or NB. </P> <P>Of course...that means they actually have to fix the spell at some point...which might happen when EQ3 is about to ready to ship. :smileysad:</P>
