I was on here reading other class forums about how other classes like their job or how other classes hate their job. When I first started EQ2 I thought I wanted to be a Ranger got him to 21 and started playing a Mage as an Alt. I took my mage up and by Lv9 I love my mage 1000% more than I ever liked the scout job. And once I chose Mage I knew immediately I wanted to be a Warlock...and I haven't looked back since.

Since then, I have played my Warlock to the best of my abilities (making money to keep up with my Ad1 and Ad3 scrolls and gear) and overall making sure (at least as much as I can) that we are never looked down on for any reason...if things go bad I even stay until the tank is ready to run so that I can root to try to save him/her as well, that has earned me soooo much respect amongst the people I play with. I've even saved groups like this on more than one occasion.

Every group I am in I get major compliments on damage I do and lots of laughs about the aggro I pull (always the highest hitter and top 2 DPS -because I don't always trust the tank enough to go full out - no matter what) and I always make new friends in my groups (with this is get invites soon as I log or at least within 5mins).

Above all else I couldn't imagine playing anything else as my main...I hardly even play my alts because it just doesn't feel the same. I just wanted to know how the rest of you feel about your Warlocks...especially the higher level players. Any feedback about game play and memorable experiences would be excellent.

Thanks all, from a satisfied Warlock.

:smileyvery-happy:

I think any Warlock who has played since the beginning LOVES his Warlock. Those who grinded thru the times when we had problems getting groups cause we sucked love the power we know have. Alot of people jumped ship quick back then but the ones who hung in there know. Me I loved my Warlock since day one. I made Monk as an alt just cause I wanted to tank a little but I'll play my Warlock over my Monk any day. Although I do have fun playing my Monk.

I really like the warlock. I play him whenever I can. I have 2 other characters. The monk when my son and I group and the crusader (going shadowknight). I have to admit there are times I feel like just beating on things and like the crusader. But all in all, still like the warlock best.

I played a tank (paladin) for 70 levels in EQ1, and play a warlock (currently 42) in EQ2. I thought I would try a caster for a change of pace, but have grown to love the class. Fragile yet powerful - exciting, fun, and sometimes frustrating. A good mix.
Message Edited by V4nce on 05-09-2005 07:20 PM

I played since Beta and have played every class/race combo that you can think of except for a mage. One day I decidied to make a little gnome girl and played her as my 25 rangers alt for a change of pace. Chipper is now 33 and the Ranger is still 25 and hasn't been played in 2 weeks hell for that matter none of my alts have been played for a very long time:smileyhappy:

I group with guildies and friends of thier's and another guild whom I have friends in and I always can get a group or if the mood hits I can solo so I guess what I'm saying is I love my warlock so much that I doubt I play my other alts again :smileyvery-happy:

Chipper Bogglecog 33 Warlock

I've played a lot of classes, and although playing a warlock is not that difficult, it is indeed fun to sit back and see those numbers fly by. So far, thank you dark distortion, bring on BBS.

I'd say on a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 10 for me. The only rough patches I can think of were around 20-22. Once I hit 23, well, you know the rest of the story.

I like playing Warlock too. It's fun to play a pure class that works. I tried an assassin, which is currently broken. I tried a conjurer which is currently broken. My highest is a pally which is where I made all my money. He's benched for now as well. I just like the potential to never be wasting time with a warlock. You can solo small stuff efficiently for xp. This is repetetive and draining, but very doable. Whenever you wanna take a break, you just join a group. Sit back, relax, and burn everything down.

BUT, I don't love my warlock and i'm not gonna come write a sappy love letter to him and post it on the boards. Maybe a "What do you like most about playing warlock?" or something would have been more fitting. Come on Sac_Joker you're a master of the dark arts. You wield poison and disease. You can take down Heroic mobs with blinding efficiency. You are the strongest dps'er in the game.

Absolute power is Godly, only the ones without it complain. The ones that do have it come home from burning down an entire zone, jump in a bubble bath, call up a friend, and have a good cry about how awesome our class is.

lol, j/k. At the time I went Warlock coz a friend just made a Wizard and we didn't want our spells to interfere. I must say, I never regretted it and I'm glad that I chose Warlock I've a Paladin on the side, for when I'm in the mood for a another type of gameplay/tactic. I like the change between the 2 classes and it also helped me to understand the relation between dps and tanks in general.

I've tried 5 alts since the beginning, one of each classs plus 2 seperate mages. Out of all of these I find my little ratonga warlock has always been my favorite. I played the warlock to level 29 before we got the 'DPS-boost patch'...and even before that patch he was still my favorite. Why? I'm not sure. I think I liked being rare, I liked the different types of spells we brought to a group, and even then I liked our damage. Just a fun class to play, its not as common, and its got syle

im lovin my Warlock even at level 50. I chose the class cause all I saw were wizards everywhere. I wanted to be different so I chose Warlock and haven't looked back since. I tried making other alts which havent been used in weeks even after a month and a half at being level 50. Even though i know i can do only a max damage of 2106 i still love to see how much damage i will do on a particular target. Even just soloing heroic mobs just for fun and to stretch my limits. I was level 35 before the big nuke boost hit us and i loved the class before. I log in and get jumped with tells asking to help on this instance or that instance just for pure DPS....only person in my guild that can out DPS me is a 50 bruiser with near all fabled gear and adept 3's. but we also have 4 warlocks in guild and on raids so alot of times im not showing complete DPS as he's only bruiser in guild. but even with that i come about 20-40 dps behind him and i just got my 8th adept 3 that will deffinately help on that.

just all in all im really glad i chose warlock and dont really have one complaint about the class.

Ya, I love Warlock too. Started out as a zerker, got up to 27 on him, then created an alt, and have never really played the tank again. The damage is just too good.

i had a level 38Warlock and that was it. no other classes made me as happy. I was addicted to that charector. sadly my girlfriend logged on to my account after we were fighting and erased my War. She is gone and now i have to start all over...so so sad!

I`m really fond of my warlock, becoming a warlock over a wizard was the best choice ingame I made so far. :smileyhappy: I wasn`t sure about my decision for quite some time though, guess till about 25 or so, doubts constantly bothered me if becoming a warlock had been the right decision, even went as far as starting a twin char of my main which I wanted to become a wizzie in case I decided to re-roll... Well, decided to stick with the class and I started to enjoy it, the first time I launched a Dark Distortion was a great event for me. :smileyvery-happy: Nice side-effect - I`m the only active Warlock in my guild so I feel kinda unique. :smileyvery-happy: Hit 43 yesterday, can`t wait to hit 50. :smileyvery-happy:

Yeah, I like that about Warlocks too, there just aren't many of us around. I think there are only 14 or so warlocks higher than me on the server, but if you look at the number of Wizards, and then Templars and Guardians, there are far, far more of them. I like being unique in groups and raids

Have to agree with what Xede said earlier about too many wizards out and about. Yet you may find this silly, but the one thing that sold me being a warlock was the spell Dark Pillaging. Coming from EQ1 I always loved when the necro in group would use MindWrack for more mana/power.

So the selling factors were

1) Too many wizards

2) Dark Pillaging / MindWrack

Since then I've enjoyed being the glass cannon for my guild.

I believe that is a very good indication of the damage output between the two classes. I must admit my SK can take far more damage in the fight than my Warlock in training, but then again how much damage can a corpse do?

I can't hardly wait 'til my Warlock is level 30 so I can snub my SK. I will keep my poor little ogre but he'll soon be just a house pet. I had a 28 Inquisitor and level 20'ish of almost every other class including zerk, assassin, conjuror...obviously searching for my soul roll. Found it in my warlock. I still play the others once in a blue moon, but I love my warlock way more than any other class I've rolled.

Hmmmm,

Let

Hmmmm,

Let me

Hmm, where to begin..

I tried each arch-type (except scout as I have no desire) to figure out which path gave me the best "feel". I have a 20th Ogre Paladin, 24th Dwarven Guardian, 21st Barbarian Templar, 23rd Dark Elf Warden, 24th Dark Elf Warlock, and last but not least a 40th Ogre Conjuror.

I lean twords casters in any game as the fascination level is much higher then that of a melee class. However, I do enjoy swinging a sword and wearing a shiny set of full plate as well. So, I gave them all a try. I mention the race because aesthetics mean a good deal to me. As far as the melee's, they are enjoyable but simply not something I want long term (more of a nice diversion). That said, the next choice was between priest or mage. I played a 65 Troll Shammy in EQ1, so I felt I needed a change of pace. Up until just recently, the Ogre Conjuror was my "main". If your going for a rare combo, Ogre Mages are almost non existant. To take that a step further, I betrayed and went Conjuror. Everwhere I go people are astounded by my Ogre Conjuror (which I like to see). After 40 levels of dealing with the many problems of the Conjuror I decided to try my original choice....Sorcerer.

A friend lured my to EQ2 and made a sorcerer whom later went Warlock himself. I had no interest in the Wizard, but didn't want to make the same race/class as my friend. At the last minute, I made an impulse decision and went Ogre/conjuror. However, recently I made my Dark Elf Warlock and betrayed to Qeynos. I can not state how refreshing wielding raw deadly magic is *chuckles*. My Conjuror is a force to be reckoned with, but it involves directing a pet and stacking countless DoTs (and refreshing those DoTs). In the end game, vs Epic Mobs the Conjuror/Necromancer will do crazy damage. In the everyday hunt, when not soloing the Conjuror has become frustraiting and disappointing. I will not give up on him, but his light has dimmed a bit. I think the warlock could best be described as the tacticle nuke in any war. A big bang that can decide the course of a battle in a few seconds. The Damage I weild is awe inspiring. With Dark Distortion (adept3) my jaw drops at the numbers I see over the heads of my enemies. In addition, I'm not only well adapted to soloing but group friendly as well. I'ts literaly a "blast" being a Warlock...I'd recomend them to anyone. I'll let you know in another 20 levels if I feel the same way...

Mahalito 40th Conjuror (Oasis)

Xtazii 23rd Warlock (Oasis)

I created a warlock when my main (a pally) dinged 50. I wasn't aware then that my Warlock would almost outdamage my lev 50 pally at 23 !

At first it was "only" very good dps. And fun. When Dark distortion came in, it became AMAZING dps. Now my warlock is 24, does 500+ dmg while my lev 50 pally hardly makes 600 on a longer timer, with his super-best shot.

Warlocks aren't even as fragile as I thought ; when mobs break frozen manacles, I generally have time to stun and root again... And anyway, fights rarely last long enough to worry about it

Having tried Bard, Ranger, Illusionist, and Monk (all in duos with my wifes Conjourer, Shaman, Beserker and Ranger) we finally got around to making a Warlock/Wizzie duo. These are, by a very long way, the most fun characters to play. To see a mobs hit points drop by a half with a single nuke, seeing a group of 4 mobs drop together with AoEs, killing mobs without ever getting hit, this is as good as it gets. In the early levels it was so easy it felt like cheating.
Warlock...almost as good as fighters for soloing. 2 roots...huge burst damage..I take groups of 3-5mobs at once and end up in the green at the end of the battle. Warlocks are awesome because of our HUGE power buffs and ENORMOUS burst damage. I do like grouping with wizards though because I still end up with an extra 200 power and their 15 minute cold spell gives around 150-200 health iirc...
