Wizard or Warlock?

<DIV> <DIV>I have decided to go the sorcery path and cannot decide on wiz or War. I want to be able to solo more than group and am wondering which deals more damage. I know that Wiz=fire and ice damage and War=disease and something else. I havent fought any high end mobs to know which is resisted more, the Wiz damage types or War damage types. any help from a more experienced player would be very appreciated. <DIV>hhmm I was just advised in the Wizard forums to go Warlock as they get more damaging skills faster and are better/faster solor's.  Yet here in the warlock forums I get "be a wizzard" advice [Removed for Content]. <P>Got a 37 warlock that I love playing....for the time being I have a guildmate who has a 39 wizzy that I consistently outdamage.  It seems that any nuker is a pain to solo with, due to our inability to run and nuke at the same time.  I am sure you will have fun being either one.  I just enjoy the Warlock side because I am the only one in the guild...out of 24 mages lol.</P> <P>Do what you think you will most enjoy, many people complain about their class (forgetting this is just a game), but remember if there was one UBER class then everyone would play it.  Just get the feel of different things and have fun with it.  </P> <P>You will notice that you won't do a whole lot of damage prior to level 23, and getting yourself from 25-30 will take some time...but if you aren't willing to do it for fun, then what is the reason for playing at all.  I am certain you will enjoy either class you pick, I feel as though Warlock was the right way for me to go and I have been happy ever since.</P>

<P>Who are these guys saying Warlocks suck?  For one, i never try to dog a Wizzie cause we ar both from the Sorc category and Are both the best in the game when it comes to DPS...(well one of is right now; not a Wiz either.)  Their replies were short and offered no reference to their bogus opinions.  Since they say Warlocks suck but offer no stats at all, I dont feel bad saying that at lvl36 I was doing the same damage if not more, than two Wiz's combined that were both higher lvl's than me and in the same group. </P> <P>I have wrote other posts on how unfair it is comparing War to Wiz in terms of DMG and how it needs to be revised.  But with jealous butt heads like these guys posting I hope they never change anything and keep us (warlocks) on top of DPS like we currently are...and we are not on top by a little either.  I would say that we can out DPS a Wiz by about 40%.  I am sorry to all other Wiz's out there who are not giving your class a bad name, but these guys are and I will not let them trash talk Warlocks when they are wrong...it is one thing to say something like that and be right, it is totally different when you are entirly wrong.</P> <P>If you want to solo, than go Warlock.  I doubt there is a Wiz out there that can solo Grolven Chiptooth at lvl25...and if any of you low lvl Wiz's get [Removed for Content] at me for writing this, then go solo G' Chipttooth when you hit lvl25 and let me know how you do. I am not a butt head and if you prove me wrong, than i will gladly take my words back...but until that happens, and i dont think it will, I stand firmly by my words that, between the two,  Warlocks are hands down the only smart choice right now with the current patch.</P> <P>The only time that Warlocks are not that good is lvl21-22, and lvl29 (lvl29, not good for Warlock standards, but can still smoke a Wiz). 23 is when you get Dark Distortion, and that spell does the same dmg that a lvl36 Wiz was putting out in a recent group i was in.  I never saw the Wiz break 600dmg.  the Wiz was averaging around 450 dmg when i was averaging around 700 dmg.  DD will start out at 450-500 i think at lvl23.  What do Wiz get around that lvl. dont know, but i know it cant tough DD.  lvl 30 is when you get upgrade to DD and is why we are lacking at lvl29. but at lvl 31, when lvl25 was grey and 26 was green for me, i was soloing lvl27^^ paired skels, even if one was a caster, it was no problem.</P> <P>If you want to solo, go Warlock.  We dont have as great of spells as Wiz when it comes to group buffs but we do have good power regen spells that help the group pretty well.  I was in TOmb of Night when the entire group ran out of water.  Because of my power regen buffs and power boosting buffs, you couldnt even tell we weren't drinking.  I dont know what WIz's have for group buffs but from reading lots of forums and "open minds" who weren't player haters, i learned that Wiz do have better group spells.  Since you want to solo, then this will give you a better picture on what direction to take.</P> <P>I cant say how warlocks do around lvl50 because i am not there yet, from what i have heard (from many sources in cluding a lvl50 Wiz,) is that we simply kick major butt, and are one of the most powerful class's around. </P> <P>I did read on the WIZARD forum page from one lvl50 Wiz was that his major Spells at that lvl were almost all inefective on Epic targets and was pretty much useless in the group...this is not my opinion, this is from the words of a Wiz in a recent post.</P> <P>If you want to find out how badly Wiz's suck, read <EM>their</EM> own words in <EM>their</EM> forums...lots of complaining going on.</P> <P>The only thing that i can warn you on is by the time you get high enough lvl to really go out and do some dmg, the next patch might reverse the roles in these two class's...seems SOE cant fix one thing without screwing up another.</P> <P>Once again, I appologize to all other Wiz out there who are not wrongly trashing us Warlocks.  You cant help the patch and i know some day the roles will be reversed.  That is why i have never trash talked a Wiz until this post.</P>

I watched a wizard repeatedly solo a 50^^ Heroic fire giant while we waited on Mago to spawn outside of Solusek. Wizards cannot be all that sucky. I do think, however, that they need the power cost on some of their spells reduced and there seems to be a valid argument that epic targets are too resistant to thier spells.

They are both good classes, if you want to throw poisons, go warlock, if you want to throw fireballs and have evac, go wizard. <div></div>

awesome reply Molrot thanks alot. I do believe that I will be going Warlock. I really appreciate everyone who replied for taking the time.
