<DIV>...everyone says race is purely cosmetic and choose what you like. That's superb in an MMO and such a change from the min/maxing in WoW and other online games.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, is it entirely true? I want to make a Barbarian Wizard for Roleplay purposes but I'm concerned about the VERY low starting INT. Sure, I can get a Character trait to raise it by 5 points but that still leaves me strailing other classes badly. For a class that relies so heavily on its power pool, can this deficit be overcome without overly compromising my characters ability in other areas or will I always be struggling?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Character traits are supposed to be revamped to be in-line with the fae character traits (which are very nice for casters btw), so choosing a barbarian as a wizard may impact you down the line if they make new racial traits designed around the actual race not generic stuff they have now.</P>

The low starting int may hurt the first few levels but at higher levels when your int is a few hundred the small difference in starting int really is not an issue. At lvl 70 per say I would say that a desently equiped wizzy will have 500-700 int mostly based on gear the extra 15 or so int is not a factor at all.

I have a wood elf wizard. there starting Int is low compared to other classes. First few lvls is there a difference. YES BUT AND I STRESS BUT the difference doesn't matter. How? at the lower lvls ...less then 20 you can invite a priest to grp for dps. the numbers are so low and difference. An erudite wizzie grping with u and lets say he as 20 more int then u. Your nuke hits for 50 his hits for 55... not that much of difference. Basically what i am trying to say that in the lvl lower then 20 there will be a difference but the numbers are low it doesn't effect your lvling at all. whether the nuke is 55 or 55 he will die from it anyway. Hope that explained anyone can do it better plz do lol. PS As a wood elf i am still avle to get my Int high and be the top dpser...thats why i am strong believer the person behind the toon matters more then the race and in some cases class.<div></div>

As others have stated, it's only going to hurt you at low levels. I'd say once you hit 25 or 30, it makes very little difference.<div></div>

<DIV>Race does matter! The starting int doesnt matter... but if you play a wizard you need +max mana trait. My wizard is a rat... with high starting int (25) but no max mana trait <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Now at lvl 70 I always see wizards wearing worse gears but having higher max mana than me. The +5% max mana makes a big difference (now about +400 mana) at higher lvls.</DIV>

It doesn't matter at all. It is to say there'll never be a life or death-situation where your choice of race will make the difference. Also, you'll never even know. There is not one other player that has exact the same race + level + skill + gear + racial selections + AA selections,... as you.Choosing your race won't make a difference.<div></div>

Confusing Babble ftw, yes. But I think every race gets the % to power pool (2.5 twice I believe) in lieu of the 5 in combat pwr regen if you so choose. 5% pwr pool > 10 FT no?

go with whom ever you like. by the time you hit high lvls there wont be a single difference.
