<DIV>Hey all! Rather new still to EQ2 (but not EQ or gaming) and I noticed that I've seen some magic users with familiar type pets running around. I have tried to search the net and around here but cannot  find any  information on these pets and their uses. Any info or hints in the right direction would be appreciated!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks! :smileyvery-happy:</DIV>

There are 2 categories of familiar:1. Fluff content spells. These familiar provide no benefits to the owners and are just there for fun. The scrolls for these spells are bought from a merchant in the scribe building in QH or NFP. These scrolls only become visible to you when you level up to the right tier for the spell. There is also another line of "fun" spells available that cover your body in flame/ice etc.Level 20 - T'Lys Minor FamiliarLevel 35 - Al'Cenari's Scaled CompanionLevel 45 - Rune's Tome of Knowledge2. Kingdom of Sky AA line familiar. "Summon Familiar" is the first ability in your KoS AA tree that all sorcerers must get. You can start earning AAs at level 20 provided you own the expansion. Depending on which weapon you summon the familiar with, it will provide different benefits (and a different look).One-handed / dual-wield staff - Summons pet gargoyle - Decreases hate gain by 2.5%Two-handed staff - Summons pet arcane tome - Increases spell critical chance by 2.9%Dagger - Summons pet minor drake familiar - Increases reuse speed of caster by 2.0%<div></div>

The above is speaking as a wizard. There are a multitude of other fun pet spells that people/classes get from items and class specific abilities and such.<div></div>

<DIV>You also get a funny talking pet gazer from the Abomination teeth collection quest. You can have at least 3 pets/familiars running at once too.</DIV>

now you can get familiars for your first Acheivement spell and which one you summon depends on what weapon(s) you have equipped.
