<P>Dang, didn't mean to hit enter... [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] distractions! Anyway, normally I just rely on dropped Adepts or bargains on the broker... just started up a Wizzy and oh Nelly! Not much in the ways of bargains. I went to the artisan forums and lots of folks say its not worth being a sage as far as money making career, but is it maybe a good idea in order to keep yourself in decent adept IIIs? </P> <P>Any thoughts are appreciated... thx!</P>

<P>This is a tough call. My Wizard is a Sage, but that's because I have 2 Priests, 2 Mages and will soon have a 3rd of each (yes, I'm sick). Thus, I get a lot of mileage out of him.</P> <P>Would I make a Sage if I only had 1 character that could benefit from his wares? Probably not. But I don't think crafting is all that fun, exciting or profitable.</P> <P>If it's the only character you plan on playing, it may be worth it for you. Since I have so many alts, I would rather spend more time playing and less time crafting (which is why I only have 2 crafters).</P>

<DIV>Playtime is part of my problem as well, and I guess I should be grateful that I haven't been flamed with 'no one can tell you if it would be rewarding to craft or not...', however as I do not really know the time or gold investment it would take, I guess that is part of my dilemma. </DIV> <DIV>Maybe I will just see how it goes.</DIV>

Being a sage nowadays, isn't too profitable or useful. Master 1 versions of most end game spells are freely available for pretty cheap (largely due to the saturation of the market by the plat sellers).<div></div>

Go with either a woodworker, alchemist or provisioner. Once you cap, you won't need to upgrade spells so your skills become useless. But you can always use totems, potions and food<div></div>

No...but it helps later with a couple of HQs. I have heard that some people have been able to do the combines at around tradeskill level 40.Tradeskilling is SO rediculous now that there are probably at least 50 level 70 sages on your server, and usually there are multiple ones up at any given time. If you are in an established guild, there are going to be level 70 sages. Sage was one of the first tradeskill classes that was truly needed, simply because Master I drops were so rare. Adept III were as good as it got back then. Then Runnyeye and ROV revamp and CT revamp...now Masters are available for most every spell.Leveling any scholar class to 40 is easy, even without using your EXP potions. It might cost about 1pp for those 40 levels, that includes buying your books or finding them. Obviously, having a higher leveler harvest ALT is helpful, but you can usually find cheap wood and soft metal on the brokers. Roots, however, is a problem. Harvest them because the prices are insane.Because tradeskills are so easy, people will only charge a few gold to make you an Adept III. It used to take a lot of time, now it takes 5 minutes max even meeting up with different city members via Sinkig Sands docks. Its far cheaper to harvest or buy a rare and get it made than do it yourself. Though you do get some satisfaction of making the stuff...you will never get rich with tradeskills the way they are currently implemented. Also, there is a HUGE jump in the price of books and fuel at tier 5 I think....thats level 40.

Only level 12 Scholar now, but I will definitley keep with it until the point that I really feel its a waste of time, but I am enjoying it now. I always liked to gather but would always feel I was wasting time I could be questing, but now I am able to help myself out with upgraded spells I never find on the vendor. I am also able to turn those rares into more gold via selling adept IIIs then I was getting out of them by selling them straight. In any case, so far I like it.... who knows what next tier will bring.

I had the same questions and after reading some of the most it has been answered. The other two trade skills I was leaning towards was woodworking (for the totems, and wands-I'm guessing they make wands) or tailor (for the hex dolls). It seems that woodworking would offer the most consumables, while tailoring would keep me decently outfitted and plenty of storage. Can any offer some insight or opinions between these two?<div></div>
I'll give you my take on it, since I've done all 3 crafting classes.First off, sage is easiest to level, followed by tailor, then woodworking a distant 3rd. . .very distant. That said, profitability wise, they all have their perks. I find sage to have the biggest profit per item (my scroll stand is currently sitting at just over 20p sold and he's only a 38 sage) of which I strictly sell only app4s and adp3s out of. Tailor sells well too or did when I played on him. Hex dolls and caster gear were usually the best sellers. Woodworking was iffy and sporadic. Would make good money for a few days, then drop off to nothing, then back again. Totems sell ok and I use them regularly on my wizard, but I find that when I need some, there's usually a couple of what I want on the broker. If you're stricly going on what would offer you the best bang for the buck, sage gets you about 14 or so spells a tier, a tailor would have slots for about 13 slots of your inventory (including bags and cloak), and jeweler would be the next closest with 8 (ranged and 2 ear slots). Woodworker would have 1 (staff) plus totems. If you're wanting the consumables, you might check out the new tinkering class. It's a sub-tradeskill that you choose along with your primary one. Offers a lot of consumables, some very close to what totems offer.Lastly, choose what tradeskill interests you the most. I had a carpenter for a while that I just grew to hate. Not for anything specific, just ended up not liking having to make house stuff. The armorer I have is a pita to level, but I enjoy that the armor my zerker is wearing is stuff I actually made.Hope that helps.<div></div>
