Hey guys, I'm new to EQ2, and I decided to be a Dark Elf Wizard.  A dark elf because I absoloutely love the dark elf books by R.A. Salvatore, and I've never played a game where I could be one.  A Wizard because...well, I'm not sure why I picked Wizard.  I was told that we do the highest, most uberest damage in the game, at least on a single target.  I am currently lvl 7, and I think I will get to leave the starting island soon.  Is there any imporant things I should know, or any deep dark secrets of our class I should be informed of?Thanks in advance! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Gromph7 WizardBefallen<div></div>

If you solo, root everything, all the time, as often as it refreshes, try not to get hit. Get Advanced Combat Tracker (you can find this with google) for yourself, when you start to break the 30s pay attention to your dps, set the parser so it updates every second so you have reliable numbers. Using the Parser find the dps combinations that allow you to burn as hard as you can without taking agro from the group, most healers arent going to work hard to keep you alive if you have taken agro. To Place Specific Emphasis on my first point:If you are soloing root everything all the time as often as it refreshes.Do not use damage over time spells if you are trying to keep something rooted. Make sure that you always keep your debuff up on the target, get yourself an int charm doll, and use that debuff always as well.

The class has its high and low points.  If you enjoy blowing things up, then stick with it until the end. When grouping, don't damage the enemies too quickly or they will attack you.If you like getting levels fast, I wouldn't worry about getting good gear and spells until later.  Save your money and buy adepts after level 10 or something off of the broker.Get an inn room and start selling items for money. If the target has a red outline on their name, they will attack you if you walk too close.Enable your maintained spells window if it isn't already on.  It's very useful, especially when soloing.  I didn't learn about this window until my mid-60's or so.Good luck!<div></div>

<DIV>Best advice of all time, at least on my server (and assuming the same on others)........Farm T1-3 roots, Pick up anything shiny on the ground with a ? or a ! on it, and charge absorbent amounts of prices for it on the broker. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>No, seriously.... there's millions of posts about how we are not top dps in the game, nor does the game state that we are... what IS fun though is blasting a mob with fusion and group members are like "uhh what just happened" or being able to root/nuke named's that con yellow to you and not even getting scraped. You picked a good class, it's a fun class all the way through the game. I guess my best advice would be to keep up with your collection items, keep up with your AA points, and enjoy the game content! </DIV>
