<DIV>I just got this spell and I have some questions - </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. It is a pet type spell but doesn't allow me to change its target right? Only the target I select is attacked by the pet?</DIV> <DIV>2. Do I need to use the attack icon on my pet bar when I summon it or does it automatically go into attack mode on the selected target?</DIV> <DIV>3. If a group encounter, if the creature I have targetted when I summon protoflame dies, does the protoflame go onto the next creature in the encounter or allow me to re-target to a different one?</DIV> <DIV>4. It seems to have some decent mitigation and health (at least compared to me!) I know it's not a tank but how does it do against solo heroic or white/yellow non-heroic as far as survivability?</DIV> <DIV>5. I can't tell how often it attacks but seems to do around 150 damage per attack and 450 when it dies (adept III). Is it an efficient damage spell? Should I use it as a DPS?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In general, can someone give me their experience with this spell? When is it good to use? When bad? Good for soloing or better in groups? Cast at the start of every battle or only in certain situations?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks!</DIV>

When dealing with protoflame and forge of ro, think of them as a DoT, not a pet.  That is really all they are.<div></div>

Most of your questions you can anwser your se;f by casting the spell a few times <span>:smileyindifferent:</span> <div></div>

some mobs have allies that <i>taunt</i>. For example in Lyceum, there is one beholder named with tons of little ones in 2 waves. On the second wave, they taunt, and if you kill them, they heal named. No pets are allowed ;I bet <u>protoferno will also change target </u>? I dare not testing - better loose a few DPS than healing a named <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> but if you are really sure of the result, please tell me.<div></div>

can only add thing to the posts abowe, It can aggro more then one target... nothing you controll, but i know the goblins in pillars of flame often trys to kill it as a army <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I don't think that protoflame/ferno can be taunted off, but the worry is the pbaoe if it is killed - specifically on no pet encounters like the one in lyceum or Venekor in HoS.If you cast protoferno on a group, such as the groups of gnolls in SS, they will all attack it, but it will only attack the one that you had targeted, once that target is dead, proto will die too and you get proto's aggro.I find protoferno most useful on long fights - raids, names - and solo - especially green and greys.  It can take a lot of hits from greens and greys and so long as you let it build a little aggro, you can nuke away without the worry of interrupts which can be a headache.  This is also what I do with Forge of Ro - use it as an aggro magnet then nuke away.Just my 2cp!ScarllettEverfrost<div></div>
