<DIV>Yes, my main is a conjy. I know what you're thinking, and yes, i'm a forum troller cause I like to see what other classes I might like to play. I have no complaints about LU24 (except the change to roots).</DIV> <DIV>Now, here's the purpose of this post, I like the casters and i've been used to soloing with either a monk or a summoner. I'm thinking of making a wizzy or warlock (i'm posting here because the warlock forum seems a bit touchy about everything DPS) and would like to know what to expect in your roots/stuns/stifles/whatnot (whatnot being a scientific term, don't look it up cause I promise it's there, in my brain). </DIV> <DIV>I like fun classes that I can solo with because I have weird hours and would love some input.</DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance for your time. :smileyhappy:</DIV>
expect roots to break and you will die a LOT less. make sure you are at max range when you nuke (especially if you are killing heroics - for groups you can usually tank 1 while you root the others) Stun is an emergency root if the others fail - especially useful pre 41. Make sure you always pull from max range, so you can get some attacks off instead of rooting from the start: Usually (pre 50) I would start off with ball of fire (repl by ice comet later) then stun then root, usually I can forgo root if one more attack will finish the mob. Wizards are a great solo class, I hope you enjoy playing one <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

<DIV>I see a wiz as one of the slowest solo classes.. a conj is more suited to the roll of a solo player than a wiz.</DIV> <DIV>We normaly do not take hits very well. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>we normally gear ourself towards int gear with little regard of ac or agi. Purhaps you would like a fury.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<div></div>Like Bieb said, always be ready for your root to break. Make sure either your stun or stifle is up to give you some breathing room to recast your root.Beyond that, here are a few other solo tips: first, don't try even-con solo encounters of more than two mobs until you get your first group root (in the 40s.) Second, we can kill gray-con group mobs, but I would hold off on higher-con group mobs until you get ice comet (level 50,) earlier than that, and you'll likely run out of power before he runs out of health<div></div>
You can level fast with a wizard solo by just switching between AoEing large groups of greens and taking out singles up to yellow or even light orange. As for heroic mobs make sure they are at least 6 lvls lower then you. I find its easier to level fast killing alot of green or blue solo mobs in groups rather then killing heroics becuase they take to long to kill and they take longer to recover from. The fastest way to level is to get into a good group but a wizard can solo fast and well with a little practice. <div></div>

<DIV>I played my wizard up to level 62 and really didn't understand the concept of rooting...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I now solo triple ups on the breeding grounds: I keep both roots up at max distance..if one root starts expiring I cast the other one(Alt+M shows this). I don't use any dots..only Ice Comet and Ball of Fire(because every time it hits the target..it has a chance of breaking your roots...). Sometimes I die, but the fact that I can solo this stuff is amazing.</DIV><p>Message Edited by mcavellero on <span class=date_text>08-13-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:23 PM</span>

I've done a lot of soloing as a wizard and I definitely wouldn't say it's slow; I find my necromancer solos much more slowly. But it depends on your target and strategy. Once you get Conflagration (and i took it as a Master II training choice) head out to the klicknik groups north of the North Antonica gate and go wild. Cast your damage shield on yourself, pull with your group AoE, then Conflagration. If anything's left standing, repeat. You'll be leaving rings of dead bugs around Antonica faster than they can respawn. </P> <P>As you approach 20 or so, the calthorsis groups along the north east coast are a great place too, and the Splitpaw terraporter instances are good solo territory also any time you can't find soloable groups elsewhere.</P> <P>There are of course those wizards who prefer to solo by rooting, nuking, re-rooting, nuking, etc. heroic ^^^ mobs, but, well, I'm impatient and I just love seeing circles of foes fall at my feet, so that's remained my solo method of choice right into tier 7. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><BR></P>

Wizards solo heroic ^^^ single up mobs very well, as long as they are not casters. Everyone has given good advice so far. I preferred doing heroic mobs while solo as opposed to the solo conetent and wizards do that extremely well once you get your group root. I would also stress that if you intend on relying on your roots to progress through your levels that you invest in an adept III version of each. Additionally, get an int doll for your current tier adn use that on the mob just after rooting. Doing that will save you down time as the mob will take alot more damage from your spells. Do not use dots or *too* much gear that procs damage off hostile spells. In tier3 I spent alot of time with clays in RoV, heroic Bears in EL for t4, and snow leopards in EF for t5, t6 was spiders and raptors(heaven forbid they break roots).-Acelia of Nektulos<div></div>

soloing with a wizard is very fun. Just keep an eye on your roots (expecting them to break is a good strategy, lol) and if they start wiggling their fingers, hit stifle. Enjoy.<div></div>
