<DIV> <DIV>I know this is a question that has been asked a thousand times, but I just can't decide on a Wizard or Warlock so maybe someone who has a high level Wizard can help me. I have both a Wizard and Warlock on the isle at level 9; I love the power the Warlock shows over the Wizard <U>right now on the isle</U>. I mean come-on, the level 9 Warlock drops a mob of 3 in a single spell, while the Wizard has to throw a spell at each of the 3 in the mob. I do understand that a Warlock has the advanage of AOE spells and can devastate multiple opponents at once, while the Wizard is the master of DD spells. I do like the fun spells that Wizards have and have no idea what they are for Warlocks. I was told that Warlocks have been nerfed to death and can't hold a candle to a Wizard in DPS and the abiliy to solo, so you can see I have only half the story and need your help.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Does a Wizard out DPS Warlocks?</DIV> <DIV>2) Do Wizards solo better than Warlocks?</DIV> <DIV>3) Which is in more of demand for groups and raids?</DIV> <DIV>4) Who has the best utilities?</DIV> <DIV>5) Are you happy with your level 70 Wizard?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am not trying to start a flame war, I just need the facts so I can decide and not fell like I wasted my time on this char. Thanks for any help.</DIV></DIV>
There is no best. ) Does a Wizard out DPS Warlocks? On single mobs wiz rules on muliti mobs warlock owns.<div>2) Do Wizards solo better than Warlocks?Wiz can handle harder sinlge mobs, Warlocks can kill more faster.</div> <div>3) Which is in more of demand for groups and raids?Warlocks are rarer so they are probably more in demand for their aoe/mulit target specialties</div> <div>4) Who has the best utilities? Not sure but both suck</div> <div>5) Are you happy with your level 70 Wizard?</div>ExtremelyDuffus lvl70 WizDuufuss lvl70 PallyEverfrost<div></div>

<DIV>wizards and warlocks are very similar, in equal playing ability hands, they will turn out about the same damage, or like said above, bit better for wizard in single target, little bit more for warlock in aoe, but hell in a large aoe fight on a raid with the right buffs i can push out 3500+ in an aoe fight, so wizards are no punks at AoE, and warlocks can also pump out some really nice single target damage</DIV> <DIV>i love my wizard, but warlocks are pretty cool too i guess</DIV> <DIV>and i would say warlock has a little better utility (at least in a raid) becuase they have a group power pump where we only have a single target pump</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

identical idea(s) from me.I'll add : if you like big booooms, wizard is better and funnier. IMO. If you go max crit all the way of course. If you like to kill 10 000 mobs while wizard has not even ended casting his first AE, get Warlock.<div></div>

Warlocks will tend to have greater issues with controlling their hate over wizards in group and raid situations, primarily because they are AoE based. Tanks, by large, have less of an problem holding single target agro than group agro. <div></div>

If played well, at the high end a wizard will out dps a warlock on both single target and AE encounters. Weather that is right or wrong is up for debate, but its the truth.

<P>Wizzy fun/fluff spells are better.</P> <P>Warlocks are more interesting lore-wise.</P> <P>Wizzy = blue and red, Warlock = green and purple</P> <P>Wizzy = fire and ice, Warlock = poison and disease</P> <P>Wizzy = Direct Damage, Warlock = Area of Effect</P> <P>Wizzy = higher aggro faster, Warlock = lower aggro faster due to long cast times and DoT's</P> <P>Wizzy = usually single aggro, Warlock = Groups aggro due to AoE's</P> <P>Wizzy = cool nick-name, Warlock = no nick-name</P> <P>:smileytongue:</P>

<P>At higher lvls Wizard's out damage Warlocks, but not by much. Wizards solo extremely well. ^^^ heroics with ease and groups are not a problems once you hit 40 because you get a group root. Both are highly desirable for raids. Don't no much about warlock utilities but they suck unless you have M1. I prefer wizards but warloks do very good dps in long fights and they have killer aoe's. IMHO i prefer wizy's. but </P>
<DIV>1) Does a Wizard out DPS Warlocks?</DIV> <DIV> - Yes.. it can be done easily. My fusion can outdps any warlock AE easily. (This also depends on how well you play your class, it's not just depended wether you have fusion or not)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2) Do Wizards solo better than Warlocks?</DIV> <DIV> - depends on player behind the toon, gear etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3) Which is in more of demand for groups and raids?</DIV> <DIV>- Both are useful</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4) Who has the best utilities?</DIV> <DIV>- Raid-Wise.. none.. they both have power dumps, procs etc. (evac and all that don't make sense and i don't consider that as a "tool" as though they made this game ridiculously easy to play that any travel spell is completely being replaced by items)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>5) Are you happy with your level 70 Wizard?</DIV> <DIV>- o yea! <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>T7 raids may be a long way away but:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <UL> <LI>highest dps on raids is virtually always necros, conj, ranger, assassin, swashies or brigand - can't remember a single raid named where our wizzies have been top dps (even with troub in grp)</LI> <LI>on most raid encounters wizzies and warlocks are v close together in dps</LI> <LI>both classes are welcome on raids but neither class is in demand - there are many out there, their dps isn't the highest, utility is low and their paper butts get fried too easily (low hp, cloth armour, lower resists)</LI></UL> <P>All this may change by the time you level to 68+ for T7 raiding....but wizzie soloing is supreme and they are easy to play to get good group dps</P> <P>Used to be a happy wizzie, until i worked out raid healing was more fun</P> <P> </P>

<P>I want to thank everyone who took the time to help me; your information was very helpful. I did make a decision and I chose the Wizard class, there was no one reason why I chose the Wizard. They are so close in everything, so I went on what I think I would like to play for the next 70 levels oh yea, the fun spells of the Wizard did help in that choice (a little) but wasn't the only reason. I know that down the road if the Wizard class don't fit me I can betray to the Warlocks but I don't see that happening.</P> <P> </P> <P> Thanks again for the help. =)</P>

Any of those classes could be the top depending on the player behind the character. If your rangers are top, your dps classes I listed above are NOT doing a good enough job. If your wizards are not up there with them, they are NOT doing a good enough job.Just some things to think about to get your raid force moving more efficiently.

<DIV>/Agree Ishbo</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I consistently parse top 5 with an Assassin, Brigand, Necro/Conj in raids. Having the right gear, spell upgrades, and casting cycle will get you there on a consistent basis.</DIV>

Hmm your right. I should have made it clear I meant in a good, well set up raid <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> A lot of crazy things can happen if the raid is not set up correctly.

Warlocks only really do better then a wizard with the absolute perfect groups etup...its ridiculous how much deagro and crap they need to not die every other pull in raids and still maintain decent dps. Now given wizards do need some of that too but they don't get poundedquite as much

Only the biased [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]heads and clueless think otherwise.Dps classes that do well are assassin, brigand, swashy, conjuror, necromancer and wizard. Warlocks and rangers fall behind those. So in terms of wizards and warlocks, if you knew what you were getting into you would pick wizard no questions asked.</div>

Warlock masters cost infinitely less than wizard masters. So if you have a kinky fetish for master spells, your craving will be satisfied quicker witha warlock. At least that is the case on Nektulos.-Acelia 70th Wizard of Nektulos<div></div>
