I have Protoferno ad ad3 and was considering geting the Master, since I use it a lot. However, I'm not really sure what I'm gaining by doing so. What is the benefit of upgrading dumbfire pets? More DPS? Hore HP's? Both? Thanks for any info you might have.<div></div>

It doesn't seem to be that terribly impressive a dumbfire pet a Master, haven't really parsed it that extensivly, but it's more like a minor DoT I guess, constantly ticking away.<div></div>

Personally I use Protoflame from time to time, but reconsider chosing it at master. The dps-gain wont be that great - better save the gold forfusion master etc.<div></div>

<DIV>At master 1 my Protoferno averages 250 DPS on trash mobs with 0 debuffs. I haven't parsed it individually on raids (I will soon), but with how many heat debuffs there are in the game, I'd expect it to do a lot more than that on raids. At least double.</DIV>

<DIV>The 250 DPS number I got was from killing a level 59 Temple Guardian in Mystic Lake. I let him fight for 40 seconds, then parsed the results. Make sure your parser stops 2-3 seconds after combat stops to get the best number possible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It was, I think, 210 DPS the first time was from a green, level 60 Temple Guardian. The 250 was when I tried the grey, level 59 Temple Guardian. Regardless, the DPS of your Protoferno should go up in a perfect raiding situation, where all debuffs are fully on. My Protoferno in a raid seems to hit quite often for 450-500, give or take a little bit, depending on the mob and the debuffs that are on it.</DIV>

<DIV>I only did 2 parses though; I'd be happy to do another 5-10 just to get an average for you.</DIV>

I also noticed he crits a lot more now that I respecc'ed and decided to try out the str line for another 11.7% crit chance.</P> <P>his swings vary greatyly from 150-500(on crits)</P>

<DIV>right after i respeced to master2 in HoS I was seeing hits of 500-700...in the lab its significantly less, 250-500 i'd say, with crits from 5-700. Since it only hits every few seconds, and only for that amount, it probably doesn't do more than 100dps in a perfect 50s fight.</DIV>

And yes many mobs in lab have high heat resistances (firedrakes,) so it does much less damage. My m2 protoferno does 70-150 dps, depends on the targets and debuffs.<BR>

<DIV>It really depends on the encounter and debuffs. I tried it vs. a different level 59 solo mob, with zero debuffs on, and it did 150 DPS after testing it a few times and averaging it. On raids it generally does more though.</DIV>

<DIV>without a doubt worth upgrading to master 1, any damage spell is worth getting master heh, my protoferno at master 1 normally adds about 150+ damage to my parse, depending on if aoes are goin off and whatnot, but definitely worth it</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Yup Yup.. Get it if you can. I love my master Protoferno. A master does more damge per hit and gets resisted less.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I notice the resist of the spells less than a master in the parses so it does make a diffrence</DIV> <DIV>I guess now it is the only agro free dps you have...</DIV>
