<DIV>I picked up a fist of the tyrant master 1 this morning which means I can now self buff to the INT cap.  At this point it seems like there's really no point in upgrading any of my gear (other than in combat power regen items).  Maybe getting resist gear sets for specific raid mobs.  My equipment is far from the best available, i've got 2 T5 fabled and the rest treasured or legendary.  Obviously I have many spells to upgrade but as far as gear goes is there any point to trying for better stuff?</DIV>

<DIV>It all depends on your play style. In a raid setting you can hit max int very easy. I would personally reccomend looking into Wisdom to up your resists further if you plan to partake in the raid scene.</DIV>

do we have any actual data on how much difference WIS makes to a wizard.  let's say I could bump WIS by 75 points.  Is that even going to let me live 1 spell longer if a raid mob decides to cast on me?

The main group of friends I hang with is me (wizard), a ranger, and a mystic. The mystic is always a bit lower level as he doesn't have as much time, so it is very important we protect the little rat (he really is a rat). So my job is to overnuke. The ranger pulls the mobs. The mobs rip through her hp faster than the mystic can heal, so once she looks rugged I start overnuking and take the agro, and then the poor mystic struggles even more to keep me alive. When I'm about half down I slow down so that the ranger can take it back again. It's a lot like watching table tennis actually... Anyways, because of the fact that we don't have a tank, my job is basically to function as the 'off-tank'. This means that my mitigation and avoidance is very important. So I always first aim for upping my int, but after that agi is what I am for. We are not raiders though (obviously, since there are just 3 of us), so it would be different if you like the raid situation. But if you like casual duos are treos, agi is VERY important. I personally think that agi is actually more important than wis in these situations, we already have some decent mitigations against most spell effects, our real problem is when someone tries to poke at us with sticks. In a full group situation this never comes up, since our tank should keep it from happening. But if you prefer a non-full group, you need to be well rounded. And mock our little treo if you want, but we can cut through content that higher level full groups can't handle. Epics and names aren't really a problem for us. Partially because we are all well rounded, we have excellent gear, and keep our spells upgraded to adept (every single one of my spells is adept1 or higher). We are trained to work together, and can read each other's body language, therefore we can cut through mobs faster, know exactly when to stun or mez, when to hit escape, when to hit the agro-reduction spells, and most importantly: we know what we can handle, and the pace that we can handle. And I do believe that a big part of being a well rounded group is not being the BEST at your particular thing, but being VERY GOOD at your thing, and doing other things too. I am not the best nuker on my server, I do not have all master nukes, I am not int capped, but I have 35% avoidance (better than many tanks and scouts). I take half the damage that another mage of my level would take that isn't paying attention to agi. That means that when I am soloing that heroic group of mobs I can handle another added group. Sure it may take me longer to kill that mob (by a couple seconds maybe) but I can lost a LOT longer than other wizards. <div></div>
