I am a new mage, just starting out, working my way to Wizard.

My experience is mostly from UO (circa AOS) and SWG(current), so if anyone can answer my questions equating them to terms in those games, great.

I am now a level 11 Sorceress, or so it says on my screen when I target myself.

1) I noticed that when I went from lvl10 to lvl11, my spell damage min-max didn't change....although I did get a couple of new spells. I am not sure how I am going to take on harder mobs without my spells doing more damage. Do I upgrade my spells somehow ? I have seen talk of apprentice I, adept I, etc, but I don't know how it applies. Do I need to find these upgrades or do I buy them ? If so where and where?

2) Can I buy spells ? I want to be able to heal my damage. How do I do that ?

3) If I can buy spells, am I limited to spells within the discipline I have chosen or can I use spells from enchanter and conjurer ?

4) I seem to have very little storage between my house vault (2 slots), my inventory, and my bank. Is that just a "feature" of the game or will I get more of I buy DoF ?

5) I keep seeing the term "tradeskills" and I see I am 99 something in tradeskills but I have no idea how I got it. I get the basic idea that tradeskills are some kind of crafter but aside from that I have no idea. Do some of the tradeskills complement the adventure classes ? How do you pick the tradeskill and how do you grind/train/level up those skills ?

6) how do I find Basil ? I need it for a quest some npc gave me but I can't find any and the quest is not deletable.

that's it for now, I am sure that the answers to these questions will breed more.

whoever takes the time to answer me, thanks in advance,

Icicle on Mistmoore

1 ususally ur new spells r better in dmg or ur migitation and stats work with lv to take on harder things. 2 Yes, go to a merchent in quenos harber scribe shop, they sell app2 spells there for upgrade if u want app4 made u have to find a sage to make them for u costs usually arounf 40s for lv 10 to 19 spells 3 No u cant only use spells that r classified to ur class. no other spells r useable. 4 U have have to buy bags or boxes to put in ur vault and inventory slots. Id recomend spending about a gold each on bags with 10 slots u can get in Enchanted lands but ud never survive the trip there. better to go to a person in town and buy the 6 slot ones. Also for ur vault id recomend a box that is made by crafters that holds arounf 10 slots or more. U can usually buy those cheap on broker. 5 U figure out what u want to make, go to quenos harbor and choose the profession. Then u basicly make tons of stuff to get experience to lv so u can start making things in that trade. 6 Go to oakmist forest and harvest natural herb gaurdens, thats where the cooking ingrediance like basil r. I hope u have enjoyed the wizard free automated help service please watch ur stepp as u stepp off the escalator. thank u and have a ns day:smileyvery-happy:

lol.

1) Scribe-type Merchants in the outlying districts (Longshadow Alley, etc.) will sell Apprentice II versions of your spells up until level 20. After that, you need to go into the main city zones (like East Freeport) and find the scribes there. You can check a broker, a special merchant in each main city zone and inside tradeskill instances, for items that players are selling, including spell upgrades. Spell levels are Apprentice I-IV, then Adept I-IV, then Master I-IV. Your normal baseline will probably be App4/Adept1 for awhile.

2) You generally cannot buy new spells, only upgrades to the ones you have. Exceptions occur at level 20 and every 5 or 10 levels thereafter, where you can get a "fluff" spell that has a nice visual effect but doesn't actually do anything; there is also a bonus spell available for defeating each of the two adventure packs.. At level 20 wizards get to summon a cat to follow them around that doesn't fight. Also spells after level 50 have to be bought (see #1), you don't receive them automatically.

3) You can only use upgrades for spells that you currently have.

4) Backpacks and Strong boxes and other bags are container-type items, you can put them in your inventory, your bank, and your vault to store additional items. You receive some small bags as quest rewards, other containers can be bought at some local merchants or on the broker.

5) There are four crafting societies in every outlying district. You will only be able to join one at the beginning, the general wholesaler society. There should be an NPC standing outside each one, and only one will let you join. Once you're inside, one of the NPC's should give you a walkthrough for the first few levels of crafting. For more crafting information, read up in the General Tradeskill forums.

6) Basil is a harvested component found in tier1 food-type nodes, such as shrubs or natural gardens. You can find them in the "newbie" zones, such as Sunken City or the Graveyard.

You might also want to check out the FAQ forum and the Newbie forum, lots of helpful information there as well. Good luck!
