Is it still there? According to this list at ogaming no, it's been nerfed http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/list/abilities_wizard.php this list: http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/classes/index.vm?classId=23 might get updated in 2007 if we are lucky. What about raid resists on ice comet? and enfeeblement was nerfed for pvp...don't tell me otherwise... mckenzie

Surging Tempest right?

Ogaming doesn't display it, but I did get this loot item, Ancient teachings of Surging Tempest. Level 58 sage recipe.

So I'm guessing it's still there.

By the way, anyone figure out yet what these Ancient teaching scrolls are anywho? I thought they might of been adept III's, but after getting an advanced scroll with a full list of Adept III abilties, I'm not too sure now. I was thinking possibly master 3 or 4? But they've been dropping like water on regular chests, on regular heroic mobs.

Surging Tempest is our new magic nuke at level 58. It was only put at level 50 during test/beta so everyone could use it right away to test it out. The "special" recipe drops are indeed for adept 3's of the best skill/spell for each class and each scroll only has 1 skill/spell. I believe their are 3 such recipes for each class, all the other standard adept 3s will be grouped on advanced recipe drops. I have obtained several as well off regular heroic mobs.

Aye, these scrolls are special spells that each class gets at lvl 52, 55, and 58. They are spells that you do not learn by lvling up and must have a sage who has the ability to make it that's what the scrolls are for.

I've got a lvl 55 scroll called Ancient Teachings of: Frozen Winds that I was wondering if it was for wizards or not. Sounds like it might be one of our spells but I haven't been able to confirm that anyplace. I wish it told you on examining the scroll what class it was for.

It's not a nuke anymore though, at the end of beta Surging Tempest got turned into a dot.

Wow, I must have missed that in the notes about it being a dot. So what replaces Ice Comet?

Yes but a nuke is 100% better than a dot any day because its controlable and timeable damage so you know right away when/if a root breaks, on dots they have the nasty habit of breaking right in the middle of a 4 sec cast or right after you targeted the other mob to refresh a root...if you play on the edge of your abilities as a soloer, you really dont want to be using any dots and that includes the fiery surge that adds minimal damage to your fire nukes and the dot in it seems to speed up the root break considerably. I often have 3 or 4 mobs rooted at once, so DOTs are a no no in my book.

Well, Surging Tempest is a pretty big DoT type spell, at app1 it did about 400-500 a tick and it knocks the target down each tick like Ice Comet and slows the target, but it all so drains ur mana each tick. Imo the spell is nice because at adept 3 it will prob do some nice dmg and you can cast other spells while it nukes away on its own.

Oh a knockdown per tick and a slow, well now were talking. That has some interesting uses, cant wait to try it out.
