I have been able to solo gourps of solo yellow mobs (3 x double down) (2 x double down, 1 x down) (2x single down, 1 x no arrows). Strategy: RoC(Adept1), nuke single target: Piercing Icicles(Adept3), then (HO, BoFlames (Adept3), Paralyze (Adep1), Flamestrike(Master2), Ice Flame(Adept3)). Mob dead, move to next mob and repeat. Resists are the issue. RoC slow effect is a nice benefit.

I have been able to solo single yellow ^ solo mobs (non-heroic).

Anyone have info on how we do against heroic mobs?

I am 48th with 90% legendary gear & ~250 int.

-Nigella

< I am level 26 with up to date gear and spells. What level of mob should I be able to kill and feel confident about. > As of the combat revamp, I find that the Arrows are far far more important that the level of the mob. As a lvl 37 wizard, I can take on 2-3 lvl 38/39 2-down-arrow mobs, and win more than I lose. I can take on 3-4 lvl 35-36 1-down-arrow, or 2-down-arrow mobs and win every time. However. A single lvl 26 3-up-arrow skeleton wipes the floor with me. You can no longer discuss levels without mentioning arrows.

As Moorgard said in his guide to the new mob power consideration, three things are important

Arrows

Level

Type: (Solo / Heroic / Epic / x2 / x3 / x4)

As I said before I have done solo groups and solo ^ that are yellow. I will look for a blue/white/yellow solo ^^ tonight to test.

I suspect the ^^^ you took on was in fact a heroic, not a solo. However I have been known to be wrong.

-Nigel

Solo'd a White ^^ last night, but it was very different from what I am used to. Lead with RoC, Piercing Icicles, Ice Comet, BoFlames, Paralyze, Flamestryke, Truss... By that time I had to back off a bit while the mob was rooted. He was about 1/2 - 3/4 dead. At this point I again lead of with Piercing Icicles, Wind, BoFlames, Flamestryke, RoC... back off... Flamestryke, BoFlames, Immolation, Flamestryke, Ice Flame.

It was a pretty long battle, but it was doable. The slows from RoC are really helpful, and I'm very happy with Paralyze Adept III now since it actually does some nice damage. Adept III Wind is also nice, and I'm finding that the KD on Ice Comet can come in really handy.

In the end... was it worth it at all? Nope. I could have done better for myself if I just went and found four non up arrow mobs are two single up arrow mobs. The power expended, and length of time it took me to kill that one mob was not conduscive to the exp or loot earned.

Message Edited by SalBluee on 09-15-2005 08:54 AM

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't a ^^ mob consider small group/duo material?

I am a lvl 50 wizard on permafrost. Last night I soloed a blue (not exactly sure what lvl, i think 4 double up arrow heroic named mob along the orc highway. It wasn't too difficult but I think if any of my roots got resisted I would have been toast. Also power consumption is an issue, thankfully I had just gotten my prismatic to help with power regen or I think I would have run out.

As a 50 wizard I managed to solo a yellow ^^ this morning (don't recall level, I'm assuming it was one level above me). I did it similar to the way SalBluee did, turning on icebound gift, leading with icicles and ice comet, paralyze, BoFl as needed, etc. Unfortunately my UI is all screwy and the original UI only shows full %, so I'm not sure how much exp I got. It was definitely a rough fight, and I got hit a few times, almost died. I am thinking a ^^^ of even green or blue con would be next to impossible because of the damage and health they have. I accidentally got aggro from a ^^^ yellow raptor while running through an area (with sow and jboots no less) and he hit me for 700 and 800 very quick, and then had a dot on me that did about 250 per tick. I wasn't locked in combat and he wasn't fast enough to keep up with me, and I still almost died.

< I suspect the ^^^ you took on was in fact a heroic, not a solo. However I have been known to be wrong. > Yup. But I have yet to see a critter with a ^ that doesn't also say Heroic underneath their name. Regardless, I wouuld be well impressed to see a group of lvl 26 charactors take down the lvl 26^^^ I'm talking about. He's the named Skeleton in the Armoury, in lvl 3 in Stormhold. He was Auto-attacking for 150-200 damage. Good luck with that.

Lvl 29 wizard with average gear and poor spells - news ones are still app1, old ones are mostly app3 or 4 - very few adepts, except my Master 2 - Ball of Flame I was soloing in Zek, pulling Talon grunts that were 30 or 31 with one down arrow. Root, ball of flame, dot, dot, BoF - dead grunt. Went through about two dozen of them last night in a short time with very little problem. Pulled a 31 (no arrow) Patrolling Talon Orc who kept breaking root - that was much closer, but I still pulled through. Against a heroic green 21 skeleton it's very close too - so I'm dubious about taking anything bigger until I upgrade my spells. All in all, I'm fairly happy. I can solo whites or yellows fairly easily. Avoid oranges and anything heroic and you'll be fine. Malathos Wizard of Butcherblock

As a level 28 mage 31 sage, i was chain pulling level 34 one down arrow bats in enchanted lands just past the wall. i wouldnt even get below half power. I died when i got stuck in the ledge and it said i couldnt cast and the bat actually killed me that time lol. but that was the worst i had it.

Ok so I have done some more testing (read fighting mobs solo).

As posters above have done, I have soloed white heroic ^^ mobs over and over without a death. Though I have run a few times due to adds are bad series of root resists. I was 48th and used the 2 root method (RoC and Truss) at the time. (Recent ding to 49)

I have had to run every time I try a group of heroics. Simply put, so far I have been unable to keep them all rooted, kill them off one by one, and have enough mana to finish the fight. Perhaps a duo of heroics can be done, but I have not found a pair to test on. I will keep trying and post results.

I almost took on a solo blue ^^^ heroic, but the servers were about to be rebooted. Will have to try that test at some point. I would start with a green solo heroic ^^^ but dont know where to find one.

-Nigella

My wiz was able to solo level 34 one down arrow monsters at level 28, using between 40-50% power. All I used were Frozen Manacles adept 3, Plasma Strike Adept 3, and BoF Master 2. I probably could do higher but I thought 6 levels was pushing it already. Level is much less important now, it's all about the arrows.

lvl 50 wiz and I tried a bouncer in Feerrott last night. He was 40 ^^^ heroic. The problem was roots breaking. RoC, IC, DoT's, BoF, Paralyze, Truss, step back, DoT's, Portal Any ideas on a better technique? Smog
