If the damage numbers are true and we are getting our butts kicked in DPS by Warlocks and Mobs are owning us, wizards won't play. This revamp seems to have gotten out of hand. I am tired this better be worth it but I feel my Ice Comet will still suck, a bottom number on Ice Comet of 2400 is WRONG! Unacceptable! Plain and Simple.

Whats bottom number on Ice comet in live at Adept 3? 2800 or something right? The upper number on live is 3500 or so....the upper number on beta is 5600? Whats up with all the complaining anyway?

OUR DPS IS HIGHER! I have played Beta and that is what its like...good god people stop the whining.

actually bog is right..the number is no where near 5600max anymore and the adept3 is 2400min or near that. Both patches in the last 2 days said we got an increase but it was a decrease....maybe they modified it the wrong way?

ice

If you read this post (http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=23&message.id=15141), you'll see that wizards and warlocks alike are seeing a 12-16% decrease in DPS. Also, with these spells able to hit for much lower numbers than normal, our power efficiency, which as wizards was never good to begin with, is even weaker now. There was a much better analysis of the actual numbers posted somewhere else, but I can't find it at the moment...

Don't be daft. That would be like 'having an informed opinion' and crazy things like that..... It's much much easier to bleat and moan than it is to actually think.

I'd pay good money for a /ignore command for the forums, to block out all the whining. EB Games sell anything like that? Listen to Redorin! He's played beta, he knows whats up!

< There appear to be way too many conflicting posts from wizards, from warlocks on wizards and from everyone else. > Yup. < That is mostly why you have people you call whiners. > Nope. Whiners don't appear because of conflicting posts. Whiners appear when they read a SINGLE negative post, that (frequently) is incorrect. Then regardless of the positive posts to the contrary write post after post saying how bad the Dev team is, how stupid they are, how the game is going to suck, and how the company has 'screwed' them. < t is concern for a game they enjoy > Typically baseless. < many people are worried that this game will be a complete disaster. > Really? All the servers are going just going to turn off all by themselves? Or perhaps all the servers and *all* the backups will mysteriously get wiped? Anything short of that is not a 'complete disaster'. Go get some perspective. < Please post your findings after you play the updated live game and tell us what you think please. > Now, that is a constructive statement. It's what I plan to do, and check out how I play. Char is currently logged in the 3rd lvl of Stormhold (lvl 37 Wizard) and having an easy time against lv 28^^. That strikes me as a good place to start testing.

Why can't you respond nicely......no need to be hypersensitive as I was not directing anything to you personally.

Message Edited by Lady Uaelrea on 09-13-2005 09:23 AM

< Why can't you respond nicely > Oddly, I *do* consider my above post to be 'nice'. By the by, 'hypersensitive' is where you consider a fairly neutral statement to be an attack.

The fact that you are directing me and insinuating I have no perspective does not sit well with anyone. < Thanks for clarifying you did not mean to apply that statement in a denegrating way. > Ah, my bad. "Go get perspective" *was* meant in a denegrating way. Hurricane Katrina = Complete Disaster. Pompeii = Complete Disaster. A 7+ rated Earthquake = Complete Disaster The EQ2 Revamp = minor software change. If anyone considers the EQ2 Revamp to be on par with Hurricane Katrina, then they *seriously* need to go get some perspective. There's far far too much use of hyperbole on these boards.

I normally do not post at all in the forum simply because I have nothing constructive to say, and this just so happens to be one of those non-constructive comments.

I have on occasion tried to come to the forums to gather as much information on what to expect in the expansion and combat changes only to be disgusted by the amount of conflicting information, [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]ing and moaning, and simple outright malice toward other classes.

I have been playing a wizard for quite a while now (EQ & EQII) and believe it or not I have been enjoying it. I truly believe that you are free to express your opinion by saying that if the changes remain in effect as they are now that you personally will not be playing a wizard. That is a valid statement but please note that you are not speaking for me.

We might be seeking different goals in our game play and therefore may have diffrent needs to make the game fun. I for one do not compare myself to what type of damage output a warlock is making or by that matter a wizard of greater skill. What buffs do you have on?

I just rearranged my spells after looking over them and have some impressions. FWIW I'm level 50.

I think the spell lineup makes more sense this way. It weeded out several spells from my spell bar, but realistically I was overloaded with several similar spells, and many were used rarely in my rotation.

Overall, I think I can generate more DPS with this lineup. I'm now clearly a DD caster with clearer ways to reduce mitigation on a mob. Personally, I think damage isn't going to be the issue, power control will be. My adept 3 Ice comet does up to 4600 damage now and I haven't even chosen all my Int specialization items, which will likely make it go higher. I have at least 4 spells now that will do over 1000 damage at a crack, and while 1 or 2 have a longer reset timer, the rest don't.

The buff spells look odd now. Only 20-30 seconds? I'm only going to use this if my nukes aren't hitting from resists, as at least it gives me something to do. But the one buff spell which now has an unlimited timer that you can cast on a tank, and it gives 10% chance for YOU to get a power boost when the person is hit, makes up for it. Anything that increases power in-combat is a key component I think.

Permafrost keeps crashing or I'd have more to post. But I think it's going to open lots of possibilities for Wizards. And we are now clearly DD nukers.
