I took some time with a spreadsheet, my own level 50 wizard's adept III damage spells, and the screenshots of the new combat systems affect on the spells kindly provided by Redorin a few days ago.   You don't need to play on test to know that DPS will fall the day the spells go live. My own adept III Ball of Flames does  633-949 damage, (average 791) with a 2 second cast time and 6 seconds reset.   That's an average DPS contribution of 396.   I really liked the new Intelligenced improved Ball of Flames damage of 896-1345.  Wow...looked like life was good.   Then I noticed its 3 second fire time...and the bothersome 9 seconds to reset.    The longer cast time actually means a DPS contribution of 374, lower than we have now.   So I looked at the other four tier 5 damage spells I have.   Yep...ALL are lower  DPS. Immolation is now:  466, soon to be 327  (just plain nerfed) Piercing Icicles is now:  475 soon to be 420  (less total damage by half, but only 1 second to cast) Flamestrike is now 374, soon to be 197  (its DoT component is gone) Ice Comet now 1106, soon to be 1080  (longer cast time) Up until  now we could use the above spells to piece together a non stop sequence working around the various fire times and reset times.  It produced a decent DPS.    Now it will take longer to produce the same damage as before, hence overall lower DPS when the parser reads it  (and will take longer to kill the same HP critter than before, since that's what DPS is all about) SOE must know this.  It's not rocket science.  Why is our DPS being lowered? If we are now near the top of the DPS food chain, where have the rest fallen to? <div></div>

DPS is down, mob hitpoints are up.. it takes a lot longer to kill stuff now.
