Who knows. The games will be completely different after the expansion but no one really knows what that will be like because SOE is still making major changes that can make or break classes.

Play what sounds more interesting, not what you think does the most damage. If you make a character based on who the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]-kicker of the week is, you'll regret it in the long run.Once you learn the class, you'll be effective enough for reasonable encounters/pulls no matter which direction you go.Wizards are fire/ice mainly and warlocks are poison/disease.

Agreed. Both Wizard and Warlock are extremely powerfu, and there are a lot of changes yet to be made. Pick what you like. Note: (Warlocks only deal poison damage, btw.)

Wizards and Warlocks were powerful. But recently a nerf to intelligence scaling has gone in, and since these two classes are (were) more reliant on that stat for damage than any other classes, the nerf has affected them the worst. It is probable that sorcerers cannot be safely argued to be the kings of DPS anymore. Of course having said that, if SOE really keeps things the way they are, they'll lose all of those sorcerers, and it'll be totally moot.

Just pick the one that suits your play style the best. As mentioned above, Wizards cast (and I assume buff the group against) heat/cold based spells, whereas Warlocks cast (and buff for) primarily poisen-based. Wizards get Evac (anyone who downplays how nice/handy this is, is tied up in Wizard inferority complex issues) and do big-boom, single-target damage. Warlocks get a decent set of AoE spells (and are geared more towards AoE with the coming combat changes).

The bottom line is, both Wizards and Warlocks have enough dps potential to steal agro from the tank. You do that, you're a dead wizard/warlock, so the choice becomes moot .

Skip the inq, go with warlock + wizard instead (ok, I know its not to be changed, just coming with some input here), thats what I do. I box a wizard and a warlock, and a friend plays a Paladin, we kill like there hasnt been killings around for ever. Warlock and wizard is such a good team

My brother-in-law and I both dual box, and our nuker happens to be a wizard. As far a nuking goes, it would probably be about the same with a warlock. However, there's been one major advantage of the wizard: Power transfers. We've recently been fighting some rather large mobs that take quite a while to kill (epics and such). When his healer starts running low on power, my wizard can recharge him whereas a warlock can not. It's saved our butts several times.

Actualy Warlocks get power transfer to any member of there grp as well as a grp power tap that over time taps power from the mobs to the grp. *)

True that Warlocks also have power transfers, but Wizards pwr transfers are more efficient and far more effective. For Utility, it is very hard to beat a wizard. At high end (I am 50), single target DPS Wizard rules, Warlocks are better for AoE, and because they have power taps, they can sustain their DPS far longer than a wizard.

Both have advantages, and again very soon the rules will be changed completely so who knows exactly how it will end up. I am speaking just for how things are now.

Sir Kablammo Suddendeath

50 gnome wizard

Nomads - Blackburrow server
