Added to which I was lucky enough to get Borael Adept I as a drop (It was a good night for drops last night :smileyhappy<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway I just wanted everyones advice on how they use it. I gather that I cannot cast any spells once its cast for its duration. So with this in mind I'm guessing that this is were you rely on DoT spells, however they dont really do hugr amounts of damage.....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well any advice would be much appreciated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Krollin</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

boreal/aurora do have their uses but they are VERY situational... certainly no use solo. in total ive used boreal/aurora no more than 20 times... ever! <div></div>

As far as I know, the DoT will break the Mez, so this isn't a viable strategy. It's pretty much just for Mezzing an Add that would normally clear the group. <div></div>
<DIV><FONT color=#ff0033><STRONG>Hail!</STRONG></FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the replies. Just a quick stupid question, what does "add" mean, im assuming its an abbreviation for something!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Krolllin</DIV>

this means that you get an additional mob to fight against i've used the mezzes not that much too, but sometimes quite nice for mezzing one of a grp or an add if it isn't resisted which happens quite often for me (boreal/aurora at adept1) <div></div>

Best use for this spell is if your root breaks early or is resisted and your waiting for your timers to reset you can cast it then stun reroot (that is if you are onyl fight 1 mob solo).

<P>I use it as my get-out-of jail free card.</P> <P> </P> <P>When Im soloing my strategy is generally root and nuke continuously. Boreal is exceptional when they resist that root.</P> <P>I root and if they resist Ill try for a stun, problem is that even after the stun they will wail on you while you wait for your root timers to count down. Boreal fixes that....they resist root, I boreal and give my timers a chance to renew. We start afresh with all my spells being accessible immediately.</P> <P>In groups ill never use it as it leaves you too vulnerable</P>
<P><STRONG><FONT color=#ff0033>Hail!</FONT></STRONG></P> <P>I find that interesting as I thought that it would come into its own when you group. Last night I grouped with a few players and we were taking out the Giants and found it great that i could use Boreal and at least lower the mob count by 1. Of course I cant then assist with the nuking at this point....</P> <P>Im sure I will find some use for it...</P> <P>Thanks everyone</P> <P>K</P>

<DIV>I never use this much. The fact that you can't move or cast pretty much makes it useless save for a few situations. I used it a few times killing the champion in the solo arena. If my stun and roc was down I would use this sometimes instead of rooting to buy time for roc to get back up.</DIV>

I think the most helpful and regular use I've found for Aurora (Boreal's tier 4/5 upgrade) is on the King Zalak raid (at lvl25 you're quite a long way from this though <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ). Its fast cast and recast make it great for stopping the patriarchs reaching Zalak when they slip past the tanks who are on add patrol duty (for those unfamiliar with the Zalak raid, the patriarchs explode with a nasty AoE if they reach the king and they come 3 or 4 at a time). Basically the procedure goes: mezz the add, wait for the tank to grab it then cancel the mezz and go back to nuking. <div></div>
<P>I think of this spell line as just an Ugly way to commit suicide, I have not had their like in my hot bar for a Very long time. Absolutly lame idea on the devs part, stun yourself for 30 sec for the "chance" that 1 mob will be distracted that long, or more likely the chance the mob gets 30 seconds to beat on you while your still stunned.</P> <P>Interesting Idea with the Z patriarchs, but I can think of half a dozon other ways I would prefer to do it than this spell line.</P> <P>Just be glad you didn't waste the money on the adept <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

You don't have to stay stunned if the mob resists or breaks the mezz. Both the effect and the stun can be cancelled by right-clicking the icon in the maintained spells bar at any time. It wasn't like that originally but they changed it quite some time ago and it isn't the same crippling suicide effect that you may remember. As for the Zalak raid, yes there are other ways to do this but with the adds running at the king and casting an AoE when they get close, fast cast time can make all the difference and Aurora has a 1 second cast - faster than stunning or rooting and it stops them attacking and casting during the spell unlike a root. It's like having an interrupt/stifle-stun-root combo all in one and with the Adept I the mobs rarely break/resist it unless they take damage. But that's kind of OT 'cos I'm talking about Aurora and specific situations in high-level raids. As far as Boreal is concerned the only use I found is to mezz an add that's hitting and interrupting you until the tank grabs aggro off you, then cancel it and back to dps. Casting it on adds that are hitting someone else in the group is pretty much always less effective than doing damage. Leave that to the enchanters; they do it so much better. <DIV>Very interesting, I did not know they made it so you could now cancel these, I havent used them in a Very long time. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for correcting me, I will have to dig Aurora out I guess</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a side note, I believe I read someplace that with the combat changes these will be a Stun rather than a Mez, if thats true it would be very cool.</DIV>

Very nice idea for the Zalak raid. My guild did that for the first time the other night (failed), and that would have definitely helped. <div></div>
