Ice Comet graphic, huge let down

<DIV>Well I just got ice comet. Oddly enough I have never seen it in use because by the time I was around level 50 wizards I was in raids which I had to turn off all my graphics. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I dinged 50, went after some gray mob and got ready to see some spectacular image, and I was met with my wizard tossing a frosty rock under-hand at a mob. What? In EQ1, a 6 year old game, Ice Comet called a huge comet from the sky to land on my enemy. Now I'm pitching frosty softballs at dragons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"But Ball of flames and Ball of Fire look like it just with fire, and you're not complaining about their graphic!"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Keywords here are BALL and COMET. Comet is bigger than a ball. The spell graphic is fitting for the name. A ball is something you can hold in your hand. A comet should destroy a good portion of the zone your in. Of course having it do that would be insane.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can't we get the graphic a little update? Would be great to see it in the expansion/combat revamp. Maybe make the rock about 3 times big and come from the sky.</DIV>

would be neat =P To make it come out of the sky and hit one target for like the 3k damage or whatever... then hit the ground and explode, and do minor damage to everything in the area...and stun them for a few seconds =P <div></div>

I gotta agree with this one, be nice to see a new graphic much more suited to our BIG BANG level 50 spell.

I agree. EQ 1 Ice Comet graphic is far superior to the EQ 2 version. <div></div>

<P>Actually surprised to see this many people agreeing with my gripe.</P> <P>I figured the graphic would at least look exactly like EQ1's graphic but just with better particle effects. Makes me think they were putting together some huge graphic for it but had to scrap it near release and just give it the generic "ball" spell effect.</P>

If SOE kept the big flashy graphic of an actual "Ice Comet" slamming into your enemy, people like me who are always asking for our ports back would use it to support our arguement.</P> <P>Hows that for a crazy theory?<BR></P>

<P>Well I don't doubt they might use that as an argument but I doubt that its the reason why it doesn't look like the old one.</P> <P>The only thing that makes them similar is that they have ice on them and they do a lot of damage. In no sense does this spell effect resemble a comet. Its just wrong on so many levels.</P>

<DIV>I played a wizard for 4 years in the original everquest, and Ice Comet used to look just the same as all the other ice spells for the longest time.<BR>It wasnt until they did their changing to the particle system that it got that flashy comet crashing look, and by then I never used it.  Point is, if history repeats itself, wait about 2 and  a half years and it may change.</DIV>

Use the immolation graphics at least, only with ice-color. Immolation looks like fire dropping from the sky.

I saw a wizard casting this in Lavastorm and thought it looked pretty cool. But hey, I play a warlock, whose effects are all green gobs of gas.  Well, except for Bony Grasp, now THAT is one cool looking spell... <div></div>

<P>I didnt saw Ice comet yet, but if its like I imagine from the description you made of it, I agree 100% with you. A comet is something big comning from the sky and with the particle system we got in this game It shouldnt be difficult to do for the devs.</P> <P> </P>

Agreed. Our "comet" looks noting like a celestial colaps. Rather, is apears as if i were throwing an ICEE at the mob, and with the resists they way that are, i might as well be. <div></div>
