<DIV>I beat Harclave's trial several times on normal (at 32 and 33) and each time I got 37.2% xp to my next level. I tried difficult last night, and made it through without too many problems. However, I still got the exact same amount of xp, and the loot didn't seem any better. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does the loot get better or the experience better on very difficult?  All the mobs were much higher con than on standard, you would think that I would have gotten more xp.  Has anyone else kept track of this? It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.</DIV>

The loot is based on your level I believe, however I have heard of master chests dropping off of mobs for the very difficult setting. I've never experienced this though. It seems to me that I get more exp on the very difficult setting, but then I've never been one to keep a real close eye on my exp bar so I can't say for sure. <div></div>

<P>Taking into account the time and risk involved in playing on the hardest difficulty setting of Harclave, chances are that you're actually netting LESS XP.  </P> <P>Arguably it takes you almost twice as long to take down each mob, that being said, if you can run through the zone on normal with a net of 30% XP, to make very hard beneficial you would have to gain at least 60% XP.</P> <P>As far as Master Loot drops.  *Chuckle*  Good luck on that.  </P>

Well, actually there are chances of master drops in Harclave, as in any other zone, guess it's just that you fight an amount of mobs you'd normally fight with a group, that's why chances for a master are a tiny bit better in there. I know of at least two master drops, one a guildie got, another one I got. Unfortunately I couldn't use the master 1 that was in my chest... <div></div>

<DIV>Hardly a scientific study, but from my experience I get more chest drops in Diff or Very Diff zones.</DIV> <DIV>Still, I have seen both the Spore King and the end mob drop masters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Adara Frostborne</DIV> <DIV>L50 Wizard of Shadowhaven, Najena</DIV>

Definately just doing the normal version then. I really am just trying for the experience for the most part. Need to get that level up there for the expansion! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

<span><blockquote><hr>Phylicus wrote:<p>Taking into account the time and risk involved in playing on the hardest difficulty setting of Harclave, chances are that you're actually netting LESS XP. </p><hr></blockquote>This is absolutely true. I've been experimenting with the 'normal' vs. 'difficult' vs. 'very difficult' setting extenstively and I can tell you without fear of successful contridiction that you absolutely are netting less xp on the whole. Laugh if you like... but... chest drops also seem to go DOWN on the difficult and very difficult levels - and therefor the loot doesn't seem to be as good either. I have only gotten a single master chest in Harclave's (on "normal" level no less). The very first time I went there. It was for a not-so-great conjurer spell. It was selling for a few gold on the broker. I got the impression it wasn't something that the conjurers were hot for - or it would have been selling for a lot more. Sort of the equivalent of our Flamestrike spell. Not something people were going to shell out big plat for to upgrade to. Ah well. On the normal levels I burn through Harclave's in about 45 minutes - net about 15-20% experience at 47. And about 15-20 gold. On the more difficult settings it takes almost 90 minutes - and I net about 10-15% xp on the whole, and about 10-15 gold. In my experience there is no compelling reason to do anything but normal mode. -GB- </span><div></div>

<P>I've experimented with this as well on my alt, Salma.  IMO, Harclaves is THE place to lvl melee characters especially.  With spell interrups, silences, and stuns, it is hard to go through with the wizard in any good ammount of speed.  My Assassin cuts a swathe of death through there.</P> <P>Now... I have worked in all 3 zone difficulties, and never seem to get any more exp even though the mobs are more difficult.  Drops seem to be less, and it takes far longer to get through the zone.</P> <P>This reasoning led me back to Normal difficulty.  </P> <P>With Vitality, I net approximately 50-60% exp in there in a single run.  I'm not sure where everyone is getting the 30% number, but i can easily clear half a lvl bar as long as I have vitality.</P>

thanks for the valuable info i was accually wondering about this cause i've done harclave so many times on the "difficult" level.  the getting 50-60% exp is the level your assassin is btw (i've seen a huge drop going from 25 - 36 dirge and 33 - 40 wizzy) i think imma just go through on normal from now on in <img src="http://onfinite.com/libraries/574563/album/540/405/391.jpg"> <div></div>
