Previously wizards had better nukes, dots and AoEs -- now that's not the case. I think it's a toss up and this post will just incite more arguing between the two. Gratz on your first post!

well even though id like for thw wizard class to go back up to having the best spells, it most likely wont happen because the complaining that the wizzies r doing right now would only take place with the warlocks. The best u can hope for is that soe makes the 2 counterparts eqal and the same with some spell differences between the two for that particular class.

I wouldn't be surprised if the two subclasses are brought closer in line with each other, but I suspect warlocks would still have slightly higher DPS.

Neither side will ever be happy as long as they are the side with less DPS.

u know soe could settle this whole dispute by making the 2 classes a whole and calling the new hybrid class an archmage. It would consist of all the spells between the 2 and then they would all be the same. man can u imagin the kinda blasting that would take place in that. the archmage class would rule

What ppl think is completely irrelevant, as noone knows how it'll be.

I don't want to have better dps spells than the warlocks, I just want some things to change. Mainly the huge differance in damage. (I've read some posts showing about a 1k differance in damage) I would be perfically fine with doing less damage(to a certain extent) and still have my utilities. If we are also made a purely DPS class, then what's the differance between the two classes?

I feel the DPS of the two classes should be so close that there is a neverending argument as to who does the most, regardless of the scenario. I feel you should be able to take a Wizard and Warlock of equal skill, give them some task like soloing their way through a section of dungeon, and have them average a tie. Having one class utterly dominate with AE spells while the other _in theory_ is slightly better at DD is just not going to work because it inevitably would mean one class is simply more useful more of the time. Same damage, different resists. Anything different and you have a class board FLOODED with posts expressing disgruntlement.

We have a slew of wizard vs warlock posts all the time as it is.

I don't care so long as they make it so I'm not stunned for an entire raid.

You use Ice Comet on raid mobs? o.O

Personally, I see the 'change' as Warlocks being a little nerfed and Wizards getting a little buffed. Both classes will meet somewhere in the middle and be around the same power...

I really hope that that doesn't happen...If warlocks get nerfed, it will be the same situation only the other way around. I want the resists fixed and a little buff for wizzies. Hopefully enough to stop the hugely apperent difference in damage. Maybe something that warlocks do more AOE and wizzies do a fair amount more single target (to make up for only hitting one mob)

The way I see it both classes are really really good in terms of DPS, the ONLY reason wizzies complain is becasue they get blown out of the water by their subclass counterpart warlocks. The way i see it when combat revamp comes wizzies dont need to get buffed(just need resists on raid mobs adjusted) but warlock definitly need to get nerfed.

As a nuke addict I would prefer that SOE not nerf warlocks but just raise wiz DPS to the same level. I think the devs could accomplish that simply by reducing some recast timers ie: Ice comet and Immolation and fixing the raid mob resist issue by evening out cold heat and poison resists of epic encounters. Or how about questable spells that do unresistable damage, as in EQ1 against Giants and Dragons.as an old EQ1 wiz I would love to "reediscover"some lost arts, like a heritage quest for winds of gelid(AoE 1260),can you say AGRO. Or mabie a new line of high dmg DD's that are MAGIC based, and thus not affected by poison, heat or cold resistance.
OK back to reality, most likely they will do as was stated above, nerf warlocks some and buff wiz some to equal them out.and hopefully fix the epic resist problem.
