Well here is an official statement from Moorguard.

Source is here http://eq2vault.ign.com/View.php?view=asksoe.Detail&category_select_id=43

From IGN's website and the Ask SoE #37. Here is the official DPS Pyramid on where things are supposed to end up.

Steve "Moorgard" Danuser: Without giving the precise DPS numbers we intend each class to have, I can list how the classes will relate to one another in damage output. There are basically five groupings that classes fall into, from highest amount of damage output to the lowest.

First group:

Wizard/Warlock

Assassin/Ranger

Second group:

Conjurer/Necromancer (using damage pet)

Brigand/Swashbuckler

Third group:

Coercer/Illusionist, Conjurer/Necromancer (using tank pet)

Troubador/Dirge

Bruiser/Monk

Fourth group:

Berserker/Shadowknight

Paladin/Guardian

Fifth group:

Fury/Warden

Defiler/Mystic

Inquisitor/Templar

Keep in mind that these aren't absolutes. A Guardian who concentrates on damage output and upgrades his or her offensive abilities could surpass a Berserker who focuses on defensive capabilities. These are simply the general guidelines we're following where, all things being equal, the classes will be organized.

The thing with class balance, though, is that all things are *never* equal. So much of the damage output of a class depends on how that class is played that it simply isn't possible for anyone to guarantee that a given class will always perform at a certain level under every circumstance. However, the above list should at least give players an idea of the direction our numbers will be taking.

Note Wizards are listed first and thus should have HIGHER DPS than Warlocks !!!

(Calm down, just joking my Warlock brothers !) I still suppport equality in Wizard Warlock DPS.

I would hope that Assassin/Ranger's DPS will wash out to be less than Wizard/Warlocks. If not we should hand them our bathrobes and let them try them for a while. ( Not that I promoting Sorcerer N.U.D.I.T.Y. lol)

Message Edited by Alfgand on 06-24-2005 07:21 AM

Message Edited by Alfgand on 06-24-2005 07:22 AM

Message Edited by Alfgand on 06-24-2005 07:27 AM

Message Edited by Alfgand on 06-24-2005 07:37 AM

Sounds promising and appears to make sense.

I know you know this but Wizard/Warlock should mean they are same level DPS.

This also makes sense.

Hopefully they will not be averaging situational DPS. Say a Wizard has 2x dps in non raid situations and x in raid situation, and warlock has x dps in non raid and 2x in raid situations, giving them a net average of 1.5x dps each. I could see this happening, but we all know that would not be acceptable.

Considering that we are supposed to get a damage bonus from our int, we'll probably be set pretty well vs. the assassins/rangers.

Patch notes: Wizards, Warlocks, Assassins and Rangers now share the top spot for damage over time. In order to fairly balance these classes, Assassins and Rangers can no longer wear armor types heavier than very light armor. Additionally, Wizards and Warlocks can now cast Pathfinding and have significantly increased hitpoints and base mitigation. --- Seriously, though. If Assassins and Rangers are going to be doing the same DPS as Wizards and Warlocks, then am I correct in judging that the ONLY advantage of playing a Wizard / Warlock over those two melee classes is the fact that the damage would be magical in nature? Vs. the disadvantages of armor, hitpoints, mitigation, Scout utility, and upgradeable DPS in the form of a constant inflow of newer, better weaponry? Gosh, thanks, SOE. Putting Vanguard: Saga of Heroes one more notch upwards in importance.

that would suck so badly if they just made wizards great dps on non raid adventures... i would be a dps mule in exp groups and then get the cold shoulder on raids... lets all hope it doesn't come to that

Tech 50 wizard of befallen

It'll be much harder for Assassin's & Ranger's to actually out DPS a Wizard & Warlock, simply because their DPS comes from a variety of sources, Ranged Attacks, Sneak Attacks, and of course, direct melee damage. And they still won't be quite as good as Wizzie's & Warlocks.

Wizards & Warlocks damage is always direct and simple. Nuke or DoT. Don't really do damage any other way really..

I believe the list is also in order, i.e. if you are above someone in a group, then you'll be higher DPS than them.

That comes from the post where that listed the order of DPS for tanks, which matches the order they placed them on in the list.

Good to see that Enchanters are getting a good spot on the list.

Keep in mind. Assasigns/rangers are in Tier I of damagers even without poisons. With it they will apply far more DPS as sourcers and this even after oom.

SoE can enright this situation by giving Sources roots stuns that truly work on every ratget not only "non epic non named non immune"... Or they should reduce Aggro from spells.

Or , this is my dream, i hope this DPS comparision was made for melee autoattack

I agree with the warlock/wizard equality.

As far as im concerned the only difference should be that we do heat and cold and they do poison and disease. It says something similar in the manual.
