I haven't really used this spell much at all, because its a 4 second cast time (SLOOW), and does little damage with a mediocre dot and only a 5% chance to stifle.  Am I missing out, or is this spell as lousy as it seems? <div></div>

Oh I sooo use this spell. BUT situationally. See heres the deal. It only works when a mob is hit. I've got heat stroke master 1. Does 75 per tick (not bad), which is more then Heat Convulsions. So for a few less mana, I do more damage with the same chance to stifle.Well, soloing, this spell aint so good. In fact, it's down right usless for soloing. Ah, but in a group, with a scout or monk or bruiser, now it's good. I've had it go off for up to 7 times a cast in the right group. Against casting mobs, it's amazing. Remember, it's not 5% to stifle, but 5% each time the mob is hit.Take the Spirit Sucker in Nek castle. Sucks your power. But with heat stroke, and others beating on it, it doesn't suck as much power from the group. In heroic fights, it's great at stoping mobs from healing themselves or others, as it lasts 25 seconds. Which is how I see it in certain fights, a 25 second stifle.<p>Message Edited by Stavenham on <span class=date_text>06-20-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:44 PM</span>

<DIV>Yup, Stave nailed it.  I used to think it was pretty much useless, but just didn't understand what it can do.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You can hear it going off when the 5% chance to proc. is activated.  </DIV>

Thank you very much for the replies.  I was under the impression that there was just a 5% chance to stifle when the spell went off (or possibly each time the DoT hit).  Does it acutally say that melee hits are what actually causes the chance to stifle, or was that something you just discovered? <div></div>

I know it works for melee hits, can't confirm with magic hits.
