I was struggling with my summoner till I figured out the right tactic for the instance to solo those mobs that come with their friends. I'm talking about those groups of 4 linked mobs in Splitpaw. Now with the right tactic they are easy.So since I'm still struggling with my wizard 38, I think I do something wrong. I have no problems with the solo ones. But those that come in groups are doing me bad sometimes. What's your tactic in doing them? What can you advise?

Well... at 38 it is going to be tough... but I know at 50 I just threw Ring of Cold down on them and wiped out one at a time, and if I can out of time on the Ring of Cold, I rooted down the living ones with Truss and Frozen Manacles.

Hmm, what exactly does Ring of Cold?Since I don't believe that I have to first reach lvl50 bevore I can begin to play, I still think it should be possible to do this instance even at lvl38

Well... Ring of Cold is a lvl 41.5 spell. It is an AOE Perma root. Means it isnt broken by spell contact or DOT tick. Very handy spell.

In your case.. You best option may be this:

Root one mob
Stun, then root another mob

this should leave you with 2 mobs left. Pick one mob, and nuke it to death, then move on to the other non rooted mob. Your best bet is to just keep as many away from you at a time as you can. This will leave fewer mobs on you to attack you.

At your lvl, I believe that you have Frozen Manacles and Tether to work with. This is very helpful. Just use those roots in conjunction with your stun, and you should take care of 2 mobs and keep em out of the fight. Just make sure to keep an eye on the root timers so you can re root if the timers run low. You will go through power, but this will keep a few mobs off of you, and let you deal with only the first 2.

if you arent soloing a lot, subj wont be maxed.. A variation on what others are doing open with tether as its your longest casting root (first mob) manacles on 2nd mob (if you've picked your distance well, you should manacled him before he gets to you if freeze works, freeze 3rd mob, otherwise risk blazing int while manacles refreshes, or just tank the last 2 using short- casting spells like ice spike/bott. bof would be nice, but at 5s, i doubt you would land it with 2 mobs hitting you. One final thing: if you are soloing - make sure your armour is yellow/orange, especially chest piece.. put more stats into agi/sta than int, as when you solo you're not going to need the int much if you can't live to use the power. you can always pain med power back

I'm finding this extremely difficult as well. I went into Splitpaw as a level 35 (or maybe 36). Everything in there cons white or yellow to me, and soloing 4 yellow 1-downs has been impossible for me so far. I can sometimes take groups of 3 as long as I don't get stifled or stunned for a while by the 3rd mob, but having even two mobs on me generally means I'm going to get interrupted/stifled enough that I can't kill those two before the roots wear off on the original two mobs. However, I did just hit 37 and now have my [Removed for Content] BoFl. Maybe this way I'll have a chance to kill one of the mobs on me before things get too nasty, then I can just work on cycling my roots. I can't WAIT until I hit 42 and have Ring of Cold. That has to be one of the most [Removed for Content] spells we ever get. What I wish I could do though, is just duo it with a good tank. They stated that the Splitpaw instances were designed for small groups more than soloing, with 2 or 3 chars. As long as the tank can hold the aggro you should be able to burn them down pretty fast.

With a tank - it's easy

Bah! Bakual thats silly, of course it would be easy with a tank, gosh! but everyones talking about soloing it. ^_~ But I tried this with my lv 38 wizzy I have all my nukes and roots at adept 1 or 3 and it is hard, I try to root from the maximum casting range so I can only have 2 mobs hitting me but my armor is a problem right now. So after reading this, Im gonna go ahead and up everything I have. Ive been lagging on that for a while since IM a solo wizzy and I didnt know what effect it had during a fight other than the mitigation and I dont usually fight grouped mobs, and when I fight solo mobs they hardly ever get the chance to hit me. Very useful info. Thanks!

I replied to the post before. It was not a solution for the solo-problem :p
