<DIV>First, I'll state the obvious, we all know that the wizard class could use some help. We've read the posts and many of us, although we may not post all the time, nod our head in agreement. Personally, I'm playing my 37 wizard and having fun. I try to keep up to date on our issues, but don't let it interfere with my gameplay (since above all, this is a game).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So with that said, I was wondering if we could begin to put our heads together and come up with a constructive thread. Maybe provide consolidated suggestions on what spells to get in Adept III. What items you've found along the way that you'd like to share with us. Maybe even discussion on specific techniques you use while fighting. It was here I read that, sorry I forget who posted, that they still have Incinerate on their toolbar for the debuff. I thought that was great advice, since I'd taken it off levels ago. Or others discussing the benefit of getting an adept III - Frozen Manacles. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What can I add to start this off. First, I'm working on getting this badboy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><IMG src="http://eq2images.station.sony.com/itemicons/23775580617701.jpg"></DIV> <DIV>Here's the spolier: <A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=quest&message.id=61034" target=_blank><FONT color=#5493b4 size=2>http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=quest&message.id=61034</FONT></A><FONT size=2> </FONT></DIV> <P>Next, since I'm a fledling alchemist I like tinkering with potions; I'm only a lvl 29 alchemist so I've been using:</P> <P><IMG src="http://www.eq2alchemy.com/potion/T3wi.jpg"></P> <P>The Elixir of Brilliance is actually a bit different then the pic. It's now a +11 Int and +11 Wis buff that lasts for 30 minutes. I'm sure you can pick some up off the broker for a few silver. I always carry some of the Str/Sta buff potions for the tanks I group with. I'm not just a wizard...but also an alchemist trying to push the benefit of that class as well.</P> <P>Again, I know our end game problems...but let's focus some of our energy on something positive and let SOE worry about tweaking our class.</P> <P>Good gaming!</P> <P>Oumania<BR>37 Erudite Wizard<BR>Qeynos Tool & Die Company<BR>Blackburrow</P> <DIV><BR></DIV><p>Message Edited by Oumana on <span class=date_text>06-07-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:07 PM</span>

<DIV>Just wait till you hit 50.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Warlocks will double your dps, and use 1/2 the power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Most level 50 epic mobs are either HIGHLY resistant or immune to cold/fire.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One of our coolest spells (Protoflame) is absolutely worthless.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Your not needed in raids because troubs and others can buff better then us, and others will take the DPS role.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I will admit, wizards, like warlocks are great for soloing even with the problems wizzies have.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Our utility isnt that great.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We are, and will always be (or so i think) highly inferior to warlocks when it comes to DPS which was our main role.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a 50 wizzy and rerolled warlock. I could care less about soloing at level 50, i want to be useful in raids (besides just a mana pump). I also wanted to be somewhat in line with warlocks when it comes to mana consumption, but that was impossible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You can wait 3 months or more for balance changes or you can reroll (that is if you plan on participating in end-game content). Good luck with that wizzy, lol.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Hello,</P> <P> </P> <P>I am so tired of reading everything that is wrong with our class..... day in day out. I play four hours every night. I play because its fun. I play in the company for friends I like. I enjoy playing my toon and makes me forget my RL problems.</P> <P>LIfe is not fair, some times cards are luckys, sometimes they are not. We have to play the hands we are dealt. The incessant complaining and cry baby attitude is what turns me off these boards.</P> <P>So wizards can nuke less than warlocks.... In the long run... so long as you play and have fun, does it really matter? I am not one of those who get very clinical about their killling, their stats, or parse DPS each time to see if they are really the highest... I play in a small family guild, with about 70 members. I am always in demand. </P> <P>So play... have fun... You are going about it the right way. I have never regretted my choice, instead I just learn to play my class better. </P> <P> </P> <P>Nimrodel</P> <P>L44 Wizard</P> <P>Ascended Heroes</P> <P> </P>

I enjoy my wizard even with the massive shortcomings of the class. I would enjoy him even more if we had our dps match a warlock's. <div></div>

An earlier post in this thread said it all, really. The class isn't un-fun to play. I's just that it would be.. a non-trivial bonus if the class happened not to be broken. Then, for example, my guild might include me on raids because of the utility of the class rather than by some nebulous grandfather priority. And maybe they would recruit other Wizards, too! (They surely do not at this time, although they definitely pick up Warlocks.)

<DIV>How about we attempt to have just <STRONG>one</STRONG> post in our forum that isn't all about wiz v warlock plsssss. Can we have some useful suggestions of tips and tricks to help all our colleagues instead of rants in all threads (and 'yes' before anyone flames - i am a 50 wiz and know/agree about the end-game issues)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>some suggestions...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <P>I assume we all know about casting frozen manacles 10secs before end of RoC then cancelling RoC before it finishes so the DoT doesn't break the root whilst you wait for RoC to recharge? </P> <P>RoC last long enough to let you use Vitalic Harvest (power stun) for one root cyccle but never tried with Truss as the timing looks too tight incase of a resist</P> <P>Dolls are fun but i assume they are only useful at the start pf a fight as they set maximum power - once you are below max i tend to get potions and manastones into my slots so i can use them instead. Anybody know differently?</P> <P>I try to practice soloing groups to see if i can keep them all rooted until they are dead - i find i need to be systematic moving from L to R so that I have any chance of remembering which root is about to wear off</P> <P>Get a big phat horse if you can - lets you run/sprint away really quickly and keep out of aggro range of pursuing mobs</P> <P>I've got an imbued wand - anyone ever tried to kite anything? when I do i find i still take too much damage for it to be worthwhile</P> <P>If i come across a lonely named i tried to ambush any type of healer including pallies so that i van have unlimited mana (still no GEBs or mana regen items other thanm potions <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )</P> <DIV> </DIV>

<span><blockquote><hr>cloudyspam wrote: RoC last long enough to let you use Vitalic Harvest (power stun) for one root cyccle but never tried with Truss as the timing looks too tight incase of a resist<hr></blockquote>i use truss and vitalic harvest all the time when fighting ^^s. ive got both at adept 1 and truss has never broken early. i usually finsh fights with 1/3 power and i have no other power regen items. the primary effect breaks 1/2 way through casting RoC but the secondary effect kicks in so theres no problem. <span><blockquote><hr>cloudyspam wrote: I've got an imbued wand - anyone ever tried to kite anything? when I do i find i still take too much damage for it to be worthwhile<hr></blockquote>i read in some other post about kiting with wands. this guy worked out that it takes 7-8 mins to kill a mob with 12000 hp (45^^ish). not really worth it imo.</span></span><div></div>

NO! do wizards need some extra look and a fix or two? yes.</P> <DIV>-Zorander</DIV> <DIV>lv 50 sage</DIV> <DIV>lv 50 wizard</DIV> <DIV>Unrest</DIV>

Here's a tip for when in a group. Make a Hot Key that does two things, announces your are casting ring of cold, and then casts is. This is better then trying to evac. Hot Key/g Casting Ring of Cold to Root the mobs! Once rooted move back to safe range!/useability Ring of ColdThen tell your group about it, it works best with people you group with alot.If your fighting a tough foe, it's great to give your group a chance to break, heal, power heal, whatever, gain some strength back and increase your chance of success.

<P>Here's how to have fun as a wizard pre-50,...don't group with a warlock or you will forever kick yourself on the grounds of "why didn't my mouse slip and click warlock instead of wizard."</P> <P>Of course in raiding...become what you were made to be...a mana battery...woot! /sarcasm off</P> <P>This wizard/warlock issue is one of the greatest balancing travesties in the game. Almost every other sublclass does exceptionally similar damage and has very similar roles, except for sorcerer-types.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

<span><blockquote><hr>Glenolas wrote:How do I cancel the Ring of Cold dot ?
