<DIV>Has this always been the case? I had never fought it before. (its the named octopus thing in EF for those that don't know).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One of the Healers got aggro, tank couldnt taunt off, so I used RoC to root it. 2-3 seconds, icon goes away and Undertow is free. Tried RoC a few more times throughout the fight and it always broke in 2-3 secs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Will this spell ever work like its supposed to?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>My guess is he's using a cold heal spell to clear it.  All of our priests have the ability to heal Cold Dots.  My guess is he's doing just that.</DIV>

<DIV>Hmm... i'll go test it out again tonight, but I know I was hunting cats for a while and my RoC held just fine.  Maybe it was just a fluke on your part... I wouldnt put it past this game.</DIV>

OMG wow how weird. I had the same problem with him jsut yesterday! I thought, hey free loot! He resisted RoC then killed me then the second time it broke and he killed me <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

<DIV>I'm just a lvl 24, but I notice my lower level roots have been acting really funny today as well.  I was fighting the same critters I have previously, but with significantly more root  breaks.  I was already thinking about posting about it when I saw this posting.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a solo player, I have to say that I really hope they don't nerf roots.  The only interesting thing in this whole game (for me! I hasten to add) is soloing two or three opponents.  If they nerf roots, and I'm left with no option but to slam at solo creatures, wizard becomes totally bankrupt for me as a solo class.</DIV>

<font color="#ffffff">I just finished testing RoC on cats in EF.  Out of 20 Roots, 17 HELD for the full duration of the spell, 1 was resisted, and 2 broke 3 seconds early.  I'm guessing that what happened with the cats was a fluke.</font><b><font color="#ff0000"> </font></b><div></div>

<DIV>Cold spells (includes ring of cold and frozen manacles) duration is affected by target's cold resistance. Undertow has very high cold resistance, ice comet only hits him for 400 damage. So both ring of cold and frozen manacles only last for a very short duration.</DIV>

<DIV>mmmm - i have soloed Undertow once successfully and failed twice (almost immediately) - i think it was a fluke though when I succeeded as once i RoC'd I couldn't see him but could still hit him.  Ice Comet seemed to hit him fine btw.  I tend to leave him to the kiting classes now.  Anyone else being more successful?</DIV>

I've also never encountered any other mob that could break this "unbreakable" root. (other than the previous bug where it was breaking 9 seconds early on anything). Maybe Undertow has the highest non-epic cold resistance in the game?

<P>Remains of miragul in miragul's menagerie consistently breaks RoC early.  Another very cold resistant mob.</P> <P>Goraga</P>

Which makes me think, we should have two versions of some spells, a heat and cold.I certainly hope that Dessert of Flames offers us more fire based debuffs, and cold based nukes.

<P>Ya, it is just certain mobs and their resistance.  Undertow will always break it early always has so does the leppord and for icespires(mobs) it wont sitck .0000000001 seconds.  However, it is still working the same on the usual mobs that I kill everyday.  Working as intended.</P> <P> </P> <P>ice</P>
