<DIV>Was finishing up my daily clearing of instances and had neglected to repair my armor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Zoned into Vault of Flames with 30% durability on my non-heritage items.  Noble Djorn surprised me with Ice Comet and proceeded to kill me 3 times in a row 2 times on Ice Comet and once on resisted root. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So I am now wearing FBSS, Tobrins, GEBS and enchanted bone neck with 10% durability.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And then I proceed to kill Noble Djorn with no problems, except it took a few extra cycles of truss and canni spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That is broken.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I expect a big nerf with spell changes, I hope they manage to fix other stuff while we get nerfed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Goraga</DIV> <DIV>Najena</DIV> <DIV>Illumination</DIV>

Are you saying wizards are too powerful?

i had the same thing happen wile doing the sanctum fear. the only difference was going oop every 2nd pull. i suspect if i had pulled aggro when fighting caster types i would have been dead very quickly as i had very low resists. after the combat changes go live i think it will be a lot different as int will effect out damage and i think agi will have more of an effect. <div></div>

<P>Not in raiding.  Resists on raid mobs are an unfunny joke.</P> <P>In soloing, yes.   A nearly naked wizard should not be able to solo a level 50^^ named.  I expect we will get nerfed badly.</P> <P>Goraga  </P>

<P>I can guarantee you that if we get canned, our friends the Warlocks will as well.  Its very unfortunate. </P> <P>Honestly though... I think the only changes they will make in that effect would be to roots.  How long they hold, what can break them, etc. </P>

Bwahahah i love when ppl are taking the problem the wrong way.... The problem is not that an nearly naked wizard can do pretty well.. it's that gear as so few impact on us. Unlike other classes, we can have as many gear as we want, it don't matters, except for a few ones(mana or health regen) because unlike other classes, characteristic don't have impact on our damage output(fighters type have strenght, scout types have agility), and the mitigation of our armor are so pitifull that no armor at all don't change anything..... It's always a matter of point of view.... <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Try the same thing in a few days when the new combat system will come out, and i doubt you'll have the same result as int and wis will amtter for caster types! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

<P>How little gear matters is half my point.</P> <P>I'm a bit of a pessimist on the upcoming int/wis changes.  Given SOE's track record the average wizard with 200ish int will get increased resists, unless they are willing to start trading hp/power/resists for int alone. </P> <P>So it will probably be a nerf to the majority and the market on treedins and ancient slayers rings will go up while people get their int to the 250 range and start to see their previous dps, then 300+ people will see an actual increase.</P> <P>So int will matter, but only relative to what will be inflated wis scores for mobs.  Add in level and base resists on raid mobs and I am not terribly optimistic until they start thinking about focuses for damage like they did in EQ1.</P> <P>Goraga</P> <P>Illumination</P> <P>Najean</P>

<P>With the combat changes - gear will matter.  While the changes were on test only briefly, I noticied a siginificant change in spell power due to int.  At 34, my Ball of Fire went from 630ish max to 1100ish.  I also parsed a nights worth of fighting at 125 dps.  After the changes were backed out - I reparsed at 75 dps.  My int is 238 i believe.</P> <P> </P>

<P>Ok, I just have to ask:</P> <P>Why would we get nerfed, when other classes can take down the same mobs we can (some more effeciently)?</P> <P>Maybe your point was that because our technique involves us NOT getting hit that our health and ac aren't very important if we succeed in NOT getting hit.  IF you get hit you will die, armor or not and probably in a couple hits.  So, yes, is it sad that armor doesn't matter very much, right now (you won't survive any more/less and it doesn't directly affect anything unless we run out of power, which we usually don't with one mob).  Changes that are to come will increase the usefullness of armor in direct spell damage; hopefully int will also give more power and agility be useful in some way.</P> <P>I seriously doubt we will get nerfed.  Our roots or anything else, as that would mean a LOT of other classes would need to get nerfed as well.</P>

I cannot beleive a designer wants any single character soloing level 50 named.  Whatever class.  I cannot beleive that is intended that the way our spells work can allow us to prevent non-epic level 50+ spell casters from ever casting a spell. <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is of course dependent on resists which can be flighty things, but I can't beleive this is the goal given every other nerf and design decision they have made.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Do I think a nerf will make classes balanced.  Nope, not a chance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've watched a so-so geared paladin and guardian solo Sattar Terror Lord in Feerot, level 47 named with 2 adds.  This mob generally tears me into bloody chunks when I try him as I consistently eventually get one too many root resists while killing the adds.  But then i don't think designers envisioned 50 tanks soloing named mobs either.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't think a nerf is a 'good' thing, but I think it's probably going to happen.  When/if it does happen, it's probably going to hurt the up and coming sorcerors more than the bored 50s, which is a shame.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Goraga</DIV> <DIV>Illumination</DIV> <DIV>Najena</DIV>

Maybe I'm confused, but our roots were already nerfed so that they won't effect epic encounters.  I think that was nerf enough (at least for sorcerors).
