First to update i think is immolation then ball of flames. Icy coil is also a good canditate, however this will be

replaced by piercing icicles later on.

It is good spell with good damage and a temp slow down, but one has to be fairly close to cast. I have not regretted upgrading this one at all!

Immolation(39) and Ball of Flames(37) - Essential

Ice Flame(35) - Useful if you can afford it, does have nice damage, but it is on a 60 second refresh and also it has a much shorter range than the others, so you will cast it a lot less than the others over the course of a few fights.

All these three are used all the way to level 50

Icy Coil - tier 3, so if you can get it cheap might be worth it, but as stated earlier it gets updated at 41 to Piercing Icicles, so you are unlikely to use IC past 41.

piercing icicles and icy coil are on seperate timers, they do good damage and their debuffs stack.... why would you "replace" icy coil with piercing icicles?

You definitely will NOT be replacing Icy Coil with Piercing Icicles. You will be using them in conjunction with each on every single pull. I also use Ice Flame on every single pull. It has a 30 second recast so it's another definite upgrade, but only after you have Immolation and Ball of Flames at Adept3.

I assumed that as it's a single target Debuff/Dot shares the same Icon and comes 12 levels later it was a straight replacement. I swapped it straight out on my hotbar, I'd better go put it back oops and thanks.

Aye, Icy coild + Percing Icycles makes a LARGE difference in your DPS, especially when you follow these two up by Immolation then BoFl. You'll see your Immo ticks rise from 300ish (no defuffs) up to 500ish (both debuffs) when you use both of these in conjunction. Heck, save your wrist and do like I did...make a macro that throws Icy coil and then Percing Icycles. =)

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. The previous post touched on something I find rather interesting; do the high dps wizards out there stack their older dots with the upgraded ones to increase dps or is it not worth the cast time?

About 1/3 of the spells I use are grey con. Go back and figure out which spells are on the same timer, which spells have good pwr/dmg ratio, and a certain root that works against epic targets.
