<DIV>Hi All... I am really disappointed with my Wizard. Masters of Fire and Ice huh? Hpmh!! We can't solo.... Our spells are OFTEN Resisted; Our roots break at the drop of a dime; Not to mention the fact that if we get hit by a mob above or on our Lvl we're basically beaten to death within seconds. I mean what's next? When is someone going to fix these issues? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then at LVL 20 when ShadowKnights get a horse we get a STUPID, and I mean STUPID pet cat.. that is basically useless unless it's attacked..... We should atleast be able to manage flight or Levitation.... I'm really contemplating deleting my Wizard, and canceling my subscription.... I'm really upset that Wizards are so powerful, yet so pitifully weak.... What's the use of being able to do all this damage if you can't survive to cast a Freak'n spell..... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll tell ya one thing, the DEV'S have their work cut out for them..... Because this is true sad.... In closing, more power to the Wizards, well the little we can muster in our current weakened state..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is anyone else disappointed??? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Osirys </DIV> <DIV>LVL 23 Dark ELF Wizard</DIV> <DIV>Innothule</DIV>

Actually, I love my wizard. I know that I can't tank, or absorb much dmg. I know that soloing is more challenging than hacking and slashing styles of other dps classes.  (agility is a good thing) I know that there are times when I'm not even the best dps in the game.. But I love my wizard. I can drop dmg, I mean serious dmg.   Sure upgraded spells and equipment help, but that's true for all classes.  I can stun, root (with varying degrees of effectiveness grant you...just wait til ring of cold), debuff, drop dots, throw out AoE (more effective at lower levels, still fun for the oohs and ahs when you drop 4 mobs at once).  I've got some utility, procing buffs, attack enhancements, evac at 38 etc.  Yep pallies and sks get horses at 20....everyone else gets a fluff spell.  I'm ok with it.  If you are willing to cancel your subscription based on the lack of perceived power of a wizzy, then do so.  I hope you find a more enjoyable game out there.  If you are unhappy with the wizzy, roll another toon.  Try something else for awhile.  I would say it gets better, but I'm the wrong person to ask.  I've enjoyed my wizzy the whole time, even when I'm not the most powerful cat on the block.  Sure I'll be a bit envious when I see an assassin dropping mobs like crazy soloing, a monk drop a mob with a single touch, a guardian absorbing blow after blow like it was nothing, or the healing classes being scooped up in groups like nobody's business.  But I enjoy my wizzy. Good luck to you, in whatever you decide to do. Gnomar 43 Wizard Befallen Server <div></div>

You need to learn how to manage aggro better. And don't think for a second you aren't going to get aggro and die.. EVERY single Wizard/Warlock at some point over nuked or the tank didn't taunt enough, got aggro and DIED. Every single one. It's going to happen and will always happen. If you don't like that idea then I'm sorry but the Wizard of EQ2 isn't the right class for you. Try a Monk. Great DPS and can't take the beatings. Plus they are fun to play. <div></div>

<DIV>I love my cat too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So what if SKs and Pallys get a 10% speed increase horse... Just be glad you aren't a Templar, all they can do is make someone lower level than them /bow, thats it! There are a lot worse fluff spells than that cat.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not going to get into the real wizard stuff, enough people have. I love being a wizard... even if I'm sometimes slightly jealous of the perceived dmg output of warlocks. Not that it matters for me, I'll never see the difference playing with the same 3 people I always play with.</DIV>

I love my wizard too. Yeah we might not solo that well alone that is why I grouped with a Warden. She can heal me and I can protect her. We work well together. I solo somedays by myself too. I have died a lot but I know I would die a lot with any character because that is just the way I am lol. I did not know we could get a cat. Now I'm going to have to get one.

Anyway, if you cant solo then blame your tactics, not the class. I managed fine alone at your level. I can only laugh at your complaint that you die in a few seconds... These are not issues, its how its supposed to be. So I think you'd like a fighter more. The horse that crusaders get gives only a 10% boost and the cat is better than what some other classes get. These spells arent supposed to be usefull, just fun.</span><div></div>

<DIV>OMG, why do I keep on reading that wizzies cant solo? I think we are extremely well at soloing; I regularly solo green^^ or sometimes even blue^^. It's just a matter of tactics.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know that at some levels soling is harder because of the lack of good roots. But even then, Frozen Manacles can keep a mob in one place fine.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please stop this whining.</DIV>

<DIV>maybe they can't solo.. because they don't know how to play a wizzy?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm about to ding lvl 33, Ive solo'd all the way with no trouble what so ever, Im at the moment solo'ing lvl 37's occasional 38(red) 6 lvls above me max, and rarely a resist.</DIV>

Not sure how it is at higher lvls, but I am lvl 31 now and have been able to solo at all my levels soo far and I can forsee myself being able to solo at least till 35.  So not sure why people are saying that wizzies can't solo. <div></div>

<P>Hey..thanks for all the feedback....Constructive or otherwise. .... This weekend I had a chance to talk to some higher lvl wizards and I learned that we actually become Very powerful when we LVL...... I was a little bummed out about not really being able to venture out on my own the way I'd really like to. </P> <P>After a little contructive thought, i even came up with a use for our Fun spell "The Cat". Let's say you enter a zone, and you venture in but you have friends coming and it's one of those places where the map isn't really useful. You can order your familiar to stay at the beginning of the zone until your friends get there, then order it to follow you which will lead your pals right to you.</P> <P>I'm gonna stick it out with my Wizard..... Even at lvl 23 I feel like i've already put to much work into him.... So i'm not gonna adandon him now..... I do enjoy being a Wizard, just wish we didn't die so fast..... </P> <P>Osirys - Dark Elf Wizard</P> <P>Innothule</P> <P> </P>

<P>The reason we die so fast is because we kill stuff so fast <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> it's a kinda trade off. The key to solo'ing is to keep all your skills maxed out. Subjugation can easily lag behind if you are grouping alot and this means that when you go back to solo'ing you'll get a lot of resists until you skill up again.</P> <P>The cat is actually useful, it occasionally will tank for you, but you can't plan when or where it will do it. I remember being jumped by some basilisks around the Oracle station one time about level 21 or so, and I was losing, the cat drew aggro and tanked the mobs while i ran away. The cat died. For this reason you will often see me take the bird to the oracle tower as opposed to the steppes station and run to Thundering Steppes the long way, one shotting basilisks as I go. Revenge is a dish best served cold <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>On the other hand we were once killing ^^ wasps in EL and one of the deputies ran past (^^ mob, but non aggro). He stopped, slaughtered my cat, then moved on to the conjurors pet, killed that too then ran off on his business.</P> <P>I keep meaning to take a trip back to visit him too <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P>

<DIV>Hi there</DIV> <DIV><BR>I too love my wiz. Just learned the other day how effective root is on epic mobs (Vall Cents in Zek). While I root boss, group kill his crew. I switch in on killin crew too, however focusing to reroot. This is very applicable outdoors, maybe harder in caves. I meet puller some out of group base, root and keep him there. Have a stun always ready makes me able to reroot before he reach group. I agree this is not as easy as mezzing, but it is just as good if u can apply it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In Runnyeye citadell, on this named lvl 38 Horgus, I was happy to see my dps rule totally. The group had 2 monks as dps as well, but since mob had strong resistance to them, I did 8k on the mob, double of any other in group. Later with another group including an Illusionist, I only did 5.8k and kill was much faster - so mages rule this one <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've heard about raid mobs resists wiz too much, turning us into batteries for healers, however im sure this is a useful intended function as well. It may not give you a hard on but if gaming does you have a problem anyway lol</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>After reading a lot of "my wiz cant solo" posts, I learned that he truly CAN. However you have to learn what your spell does. Freeze and Blazing Int stop mobs from getting at you. Frozen Manacles is very safe it seems, almost never resisted. Dont risk a root break if you dont have a stun ready. I solo oranges with fear, but it is doable. Also, learn to run backwards, learn about distance - how far can u back up? Learn to se how mob moves indicate root break, so you stun him again before he reach to you. I found it difficult to solo in about lvl 25, maybe bad techniques, but at 33 it easy and prob faster than any other class solo. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Creative cat job thinking btw<BR></DIV>

<DIV>I was having some doubts about my wizard at lvl 23-24 too.  But, I wasn't as easy to give up on him.  I'm lvl 27 now (stiil a noob) and I must say, I enjoy my wizard.  Very powerful taking out mobs, lower lvl when soling, higher lvl when grouped.  I like dealing group damage that, as mentioned above, can drop 4 mobs at a time.  Yes, we get beat down, foot stomped on head and all that, but wen we deliver, watch out!  Yes, we are masters of fire and ice and at your current lvl, you've only scratched the surface.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I wasn't able to group, when I wanted, and soloing was becoming a little boring, I created another character.  It took some of the bordem away and now I'm able to compare between the two chars.  I created a guardian, lvl 22 now, and it's fun too.  Before you complete give up, maybe you should create a paladin char, keep the wiz, do more quests.  Have you completed all the quests in the cities yet?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is one thing I did notice; as my wizard, it's always nice to have a tank when grouped, even small 2 man groups.  When I play my guardian, and I have a wizard behind me, whoa, what a powerful back up.  Me and a friend went hutning, just to lvl, I used my 21 guardian (at the time) and he was  a lvl 20 wizard.  We were in TS, near the first crater with all the knolls, we cleaned house!  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well, there's my two cents worth.  Just don't give up so easily, create another char, and have fun with the game, heck, you get four or is it  six?  Have fun!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>mehdoy</DIV>

What's the normal Hlth and Power stats of a Wizard at lvl 23? my health is 758 and my Power is 853. Is that the norm?

Sounds about right for a 23rd Weezard. I am a 44 Weezard and I love it.  I have a few Adept III's and I can blow stuff to itty bitty pieces.  : ) Regards, Izzy <div></div>

<P>I have to tell you, I have never thought twice about not being a Wizard.  I've loved it from the start, when I was but a wee Sorceror not too many lvls below the original poster.</P> <P>Controlling the elements was what I wanted to do from the beginning, and getting farther and farther into a mastery over fire and ice was what I was looking for.</P> <P>Sure we cant wear vanguard armor.  We can wield most of those cool weapons out there either.  Our power comes from ourselves, and it just takes time to come to grips with this aspect of your character.  Take some time to lvl up your Wizard some more and you'll see what i'm talking about.  At lvl 23, you're only BARELY a Wizard, and have yet to even gain the best of your abilities.</P> <P>Just give it time.  You'll figure out how to solo with your roots and stuns.</P>

44 wiz, havin a blast. Have never *not* had a blast (well, except for the root problems a while back, but those have been fixed). I love all the different spells I can cast.  My guildmates group with me and tell me to "go crazy". I do. Things die. Fast.  Its fun. =) <div></div>

<DIV>It is a fun class and powerful - just requires work by the development team. I have had alot of fun playing the class. It is just the raid encouter situation and some broken spells and mana efficiency and casting times that need to be take care of.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Groups will be happy with a wiz always.</DIV>

<P>I love my wizard when I am in groups with my guild. I feel powerful (but am annoyed when a mob dies just as my spell is cast, lol). </P> <P>I don't feel however that I am a master of elemental power. To me, a wizard is more than ice and fire. We are masters of the elemental planes. Calling forth the power of the earth, wind, fire and water. Of the 4 basic elements we get 2. It would be really cool, if we could become the AoE damagers. Specializing in phenomenal effects: earthquakes, walls of fire for crowd control, debuffs of wind to slow enemy movement or blow them back (I know from first hand exp demons in game can do this, lol). I like all our fire and cold spells, but if they added some new ones, it would go a far way into amking us what I think we should be.</P> <P>But saying that, the way it is implemented is still very fun. I love the ice animations, and the buffs are very useful. But I wish Wizards were more large area damagers, with warlocks being the single damagers (they should be specializing in curses, poisons, blights, diseases, but they are well done in this game as are).</P> <P>I do think wizard is a difficult class to play, we do not have alot of wiggle room for mistakes in battle, but we are effective. And there really is nothing quite like hearing from your group, wow that was much easier with you here.</P>
